|
Re: Galloway waived, austin signed
Didn't see that coming lol. Finally we get the young guys in
|
Re: Galloway waived, austin signed
This should have happened 10 weeks ago
|
Re: Galloway waived Austin promoted to roster
But.....it's happened now .. Austin has more reps under his system and more time to study that damn playbook .. i'm excited about Moss, Cooley, Davis and now Banks/Austin ... Keiland Williams is playing solid and James Davis will open some eyes .. we HAVE DEPTH !

Re: Galloway waived Austin promoted to roster
Joey Galloway, I'm happy that you made a slight impact last week, but this coaching staff just made one of the best decisions OF ALL TIME!

Re: Galloway waived Austin promoted to roster
Is there a youth movement on the horizon. Got 2 luv it.
|
Re: Galloway waived Austin promoted to roster
WHAT TOOK THEM SO LONG? Galloway should've never been on the team in the first place and Austin should've been playing since day one. Now they need to go ahead and send the ax down on Roydell Williams.
|
Re: Galloway waived Austin promoted to roster
Next up Casey Rabach.
|
Re: Galloway waived Austin promoted to roster
Good riddance, I don't see how anyone who drops so many passes can continue to start. So who's going to get the PT now? Brandon Banks I hope.
|
Re: Galloway waived Austin promoted to roster
Not surprising, he hasn't been much of a contributor. I don't see him getting a lot more opportunities due to his age, injury history and lack of production. He should be grateful for the time he got here, it probably wouldn't have been available anywhere else.
|
This is a good development, but let's realize that Galloway added a strong veteran presence and guidance for the younger players. This would appear to be how a professionally run football team trains and develops young talent. I can certainly see why this confuses many people.
|
Re: Galloway waived Austin promoted to roster
I liked Austin in the preseason and hoped that he would make the roster opening day. I look forward to seeing what he can do on the real field.
|
Re: Galloway waived Austin promoted to roster
Very happy to see this, no no, EXTREMELY happy.

We may all eventually like the look of this youth movement. I'm glad to see some of our young players getting an opportunity, even if their chances come out of necessity. |
Re: Galloway waived Austin promoted to roster
Great now who do I start at WR on my fantasy team this weekend, this is bullshit!

Yeah, I know we couch potato coaches really don't know a lot but I think almost all of us fans called for this 7 to 9 weeks ago. What I despise most is HC's living off of players "PAST" performances and not admitting possibly having made a mistake and making a change early in the season. |
Re: Galloway waived Austin promoted to roster
On another note... This does open up a PS spot so who gets picked up for that? Any OL from the UFL worth anything or WR's they could put there to try out?

Re: Galloway waived Austin promoted to roster
They signed an OL to the practice squad the other day. Can't remember his name.

Yes they did. I think he took the spot left by RB Davis. So with Austin moving up there is another spot available. Right? |
Re: Galloway waived Austin promoted to roster
Does anyone know what the teams average age is now after this move?
|
Re: Galloway waived Austin promoted to roster
About time though you would think with Moss hurting Galloway getting waived would have waited.
|
Re: Galloway waived Austin promoted to roster
I guess someone high up in the organization reads this message board -- getting the youngsters some playing time, I love it.

That is true but if you are a vet you also need to lead by example and the only example Galloway was setting was how to not be a decent NFL wideout. Young guys definitely look up to the older players and basically when an old guy doesn't do anything right, justifying his roster spot by saying he's providing guidance to the younger guys doesn't really matter. |
Re: Galloway waived Austin promoted to roster
Ok someone might have to help me here(if I have something wrong), Chad Simpson(RB) injured his foot before last weeks game and needs surgery, Clinton Portis(RB) reinjured his vagina and has been put on IR. So the team knows it needs 2 RB's so they signed James Davis(RB) from the PS and signed a FA Andre Brown(RB) to the active roster.
The team then went out and signed an OL Jacob Bender to the PS. Which I assume he takes James Davis's spot on the PS. They then signed DB Victor (Macho) Harris to the active roster. The team then goes out and signs RB Kestahn Moore to the PS. Now they sign T.Austin to the active roster from the PS which would mean there is a PS spot available. So I went to the team site and looked at it's supposedly updated roster and Austin is on the active roster, but so is Portis. As the PS looks right now on the team site: 1. Selvish Capers OT 2. Eric Cook C/G 3. Rob Jackson DE 4. Taurus Johnson WR 5. Sha'reff Rashad S Now add: 6. Jacob Bender OL 7. Kestahn Moore RB 8. ? Wonder who they will pick up? or what position. |
Re: Galloway waived Austin promoted to roster
I like this move because we all know Galloway will not return next season. I did like Austin in preseason and he is a California kid same area that Desean Jackson is from. He is built simiular to D.Jack. I would like to see Austin and Banks get some wide out screens and wr reverses. This will add to our team speed on offense. GL Austin make your chance count. Bro.

Re: Galloway waived Austin promoted to roster
Man.. All this YOUTH!!!
Is this really the redskins? lol I think we dropped our average age of the teama few years. |
Re: Galloway waived Austin promoted to roster
Got this info from Extreme...
Joey had 12 catches in 10 games Mcnabb has 12 INT's and 5 were to Galloway. That's 41.6% I think T.Austin will be a big surprise, if he can get some action. He was our preseason stud at WR. We are so much younger now, with this move alone. I really like having Moss Armstrong Banks Austin good speed and play making ability here. Now,if we can find Roydell's replacement? I like this going forward... |
Hate to play devil's advocate, but what happens if everyone thinks Austin is a lot better than he really is? I hope he's great, but I feel like its pretty easy to get excited over a young guy like Austin..

Sent from my Android device using Tapatalk[/quote] It would be pretty difficult to contribute less than Galloway. Plus, JG isn't in the long term plans, might as well get some game experience for Austin and see if he is for real for the next 6 games. No question this is a good move, whether it pans out or not. |
Re: Galloway waived Austin promoted to roster
Wow. Finally.
I felt like Joey gave up on running routes several times. It will be good just to see what other people can do. |
