What you want or getting for Xmas!!????!!!
I thought this might be a fun thread to start then after Xmas we can come back to it to see if Santa filled our Xmas wishes.
I didn't ask for anything and don't expect anything; which I don't care I just like seeing my son happy on Xmas morning. Surprisingly though my MIL always gets me something that I enjoy; last year it was a good book. |
Re: What you want or getting for Xmas!!????!!!
Nothing that I really want, but my wife always does a great job at surprising me. I'll just casually mention things that I like throughout the year and boom, it's under the tree.
Sometimes I'll get something where I'm like wow, I mentioned this back in June how the heck did she remember?? She's great like that. |
Re: What you want or getting for Xmas!!????!!!
I never get anything anyways so....... but the fiancee did just get me an Xbox360
|
Re: What you want or getting for Xmas!!????!!!
I don't want anything in particular though I would happily accept anything...especially a tree planted in my name.
|
Re: What you want or getting for Xmas!!????!!!
Getting myself a new C/A system and stove...instead of a new car. Eff spending money and gaining debt.

I can dig that! I never ask for anything that I can provide for myself, so help somebody else out and I'll gladly except some of the credit. |
Re: What you want or getting for Xmas!!????!!!
After shedding a good portion of my sizable gut I need new clothes. Also, might as well ask for a video game or two while I'm at it.

Re: What you want or getting for Xmas!!????!!!
My birthday is this friday, the 17th, this year my wife combined my birthday gift and Christmas gift and got me a Bose home theater system the Lifestyle T20. I found all of this out yesterday when I came home and it was on my front porch. I spent last night hooking everything up, and tonight I can't wait to play COD...
Oh, I have to give her props on this, I would like to think that I have the best wife... |

If you get more video games, you'll be back into your old chothes in no time. :oink: (Perhaps that was the wrong smiley...nothing personal, I swear!) My wife and I are getting a new LCD TV for each other as our big gift, then we're spending most on our son. I've been modifying a Power Wheels truck for him...almost done. Converting a plan F-150 into Blue Thunder, the monster truck. He's obsessed with Monster Jam. Paint is done, decals and some new parts are next. Will wait until he gets used to it to boost the power. :D Might add some LED lights on later, maybe a stereo and speakers. Should look like this when done: |
Re: What you want or getting for Xmas!!????!!!
I got my wife a IRobot vacuum (roomba) for the carpets and an IRobot mop (scooba) for the hardwood floor. I hear they don't do the best job in the world but good enough to hold you off from vacuuming and mopping the old fashioned way for a good week or two. Right now with a puppy and two young kids at home the floors are constantly a wreck, she vacuums/sweeps/mops at least once a day.
And I want to see the dog react to the robot. That's got to be hilarious. I put in a request for a sound dock for my IPod. This Sony one has wireless speakers, which definitely appeals. Sounded pretty good to me in the store. |

You should get the greatest Christmas morning freak out reaction, makes it all worth it. |

Re: What you want or getting for Xmas!!????!!!
Dogs hate regular vacuums, I hope that robot vac is durable!
:D That's a thoughtful gift, really is, but I hope it doesn't backfire on you. You know women and appliances for gifts...might want to pick up a $25 spa gift card as protection. |

Made me laugh. So I figure this qualifies. But you're right, I got a few Pandora charms for the kids to give to her, that should cover all bases. |

Thanks. You're definitely right. Also, it's something no one else around here will have because Dad (I mean Santa) made it just for him. They only made a few of these a few years ago and you never see them for sale...even the decals took me months to locate but I found a set. We wanted to get him a reward for learning the potty...timing works well for Christmas. By the way, here's the birthday cake I made him...was huge, it was a big pasta pan, not a cake pan. He has a milk allergy so bakery cakes are out. This cake was cooler anyways: Anyways...back to the topic. :cheeky-sm |
Re: What you want or getting for Xmas!!????!!!
what was supposed to be 6 days has turned into 6 weeks and counting of staying at my parents home.
i just want to wake up christmas morning in my new house. i dont care if the furniture isnt delivered or set up yet, i dont care if the direct tv isnt set up yet, i dont care if we have a christmas tree or not. i will sit on a freakin box, drinking tap water from a plastic cup christmas morning as happy as i can be . . . just as long as it is in my new house and not my parents. i love my parents but no grown man should have to spend 6 weeks at their parents house. ohh and my lady is probably getting me some PS3 games like red dead and assasin creed. are these games worth getting? im not a huge video game guy but i like playing a few hours a week. ps - its always cool to read about what you guys do for your kids and wives. it makes my very near entrance into the "married with kids" stage of my life seem not so . .whats the right word.... so scary? idk, every time my lady starts talking marriage and kids (which is alot nowadays) i start giggling like a 10 yr old and get real red in the face. |

Been wanting the pro drums kit for Rock Band 3... Wife never wants to buy me stuff I actually ask for. :(

I was looking at prices, looks like $400+ for the one designed specifically for pets. And this after I spent $500 on a friggin' dyson when we got married. I always end up getting myself whatever I want throughout the year, so at Xmas time, there's not too much to ask for that's at all realistic. Lowe's gift cards are always a safe bet. I'll probably treat myself to a weekend up at Camelback once we get some decent snow. |
Re: What you want or getting for Xmas!!????!!!
I've got a roomba, does a decent job, pretty much like Schneed says it gets you by until you can do a normal vacuum, definitely doesn't replace it though.

Buster as much as I disagree with you politically, that's some great stuff you are doing for your kid. You are a good person bud.

Re: What you want or getting for Xmas!!????!!!
My wife and I decided when our 2nd daughter was born that we'd get each other one meaningful gift each year and focus the rest of Christmas on the girls. We tend to get things as we need them, so we don't need much and it's much more fun buying gifts for the kids.

Re: What you want or getting for Xmas!!????!!!
Bose is seriously overrated for the price, there are less expensive options that sound just as good, if not better
|
Re: What you want or getting for Xmas!!????!!!
My wife and I decided this year that rather than spend a bunch of money buying gifts to exchange, we're going to jointly spend the money on some upgrades to our place. A new TV stand, dining room table, and bedroom set are going to be our X-mas gifts to each other.
She and her twin sister have their birthday on the 23rd (Thursday), so I've got some stuff lined up for them. The wife wants a gift card to Victoria's Secret and a pair of running shoes (easy enough) and my sis-in-law is a total tech geek, so she's easy to please with a quick trip to Best Buy. All I asked for is a few Blu-Rays and a new beard-trimmer (love sporting the scruff during winter). I bought two new TV's and a new car this year, so I'm more focused on giving this holiday season. |

Could be the case, but I have Bose in my car and home, and I think it sounds pretty great. That iPod sound dock is the size of a piece of notebook paper, and it really pumps out some serious music. Anyway, I didn't pay for it, so it's whatever. Works just fine. As far as my car, I pay a few bucks a month extra for the Bose premium audio package, and it thumps. Real nice, clean solid lows, mids, and highs. I test drove the Altima without the Bose, and believe me, the upgrade is well worth the $8/month increase in payment. |
Re: What you want or getting for Xmas!!????!!!
Don't get me wrong I think the Sounddock sounds great, it's just a little overpriced and you can get more bang for your buck elsewhere. But if someone bought me one, I wouldn't complain.
|
Re: What you want or getting for Xmas!!????!!!
Best Buy has the Bose one and a few others. I tested them by closing my eyes and having my wife push the buttons to start them up. A few of them (priced at like $75) are crappy. But once I got up to the Bose, the Sony one I linked, and another one, I couldn't tell the difference.
Maybe Bose is right with their research creating amazing sound, but if it really is better my ear isn't capable of telling the difference. I guess some people can, but not me. So I figured go with the Sony, it's cheaper. |

I got my whip hooked up for the first time ever through a car audio joint earlier this year. Even if that upgrade is no more than $500, you can get a decent amp and a couple pairs of two-ways that would cost around that with installation. I'd guarantee it'd sound much better than Bose. After you pay your car off and you're interested in that kind of stuff, start looking into brands like Rockford Fosgate, Boston, Infinity and JL. |
Re: What you want or getting for Xmas!!????!!!
Bose are good but I rather have Polk any day when it comes to home theater.
Back in the day when I worked in Marriott sales , Bose was one of my clients. they built their own mountain to place their headquarters on top in Framingham Mass. It is so sick! They have all these different demo rooms set up and stuff. About Bose - Directions to Bose |
Re: What you want or getting for Xmas!!????!!!
continuing with the Bose theme....
Bose does highs very well, their mid-range bass is ok and their sub bass is god awful. I am sorry you can't ask a 5 inch sub and try to create mid bass and sub bass all at the same time and expect it to sound good, it is impossible. |
Re: What you want or getting for Xmas!!????!!!
You guys are all eltectronics while I'm off a bit.
Chain saw clothes for work fishing gear I just got the new HD TV and a ping pong table I've asked for several wood working tools so I'm not sure what I'll get. The wife is easy as I have her tell me what she wants over the year and I keep good notes and I also let her pick out a couple hundred $ worth of clothes. |
