Mike Singletary Fired

Now, i'm not one to say.. "Hey, lets get this guy out of here after one year", but would you think it would be an upgrade to have him as our defensive cordinator next year?

He has the attitude of a practice and play kinda guy like Shanny. I think they would work well together though.

Good guy great player.. I think he's a good defensive Coordinator somewhere

Will they hire Harbaugh or go after Gruden? Stay tuned.

Also has frank gore played his last game in SF?

I say they hire harbaugh and Gruden sits out 1 more year.

Re: Mike Singletary Fired

hard to say

I think that he's had too much of a taste to co-exist with a Shanny but who knows.. DC is definitely known for some guys that become almost as big as the HC

Re: Mike Singletary Fired

Singletary was completely over his head as a head coach. He went right from position coach (LB) to HC. Needs some time as a coordinator. Not sure he's as much of an X's and O's guy as he is a motivational speaker.

Re: Mike Singletary Fired

Just goes to show how short the leash is for coaches in this day and age. Not quite 3 full seasons for Singletary; 5-4 after taking over for Nolan, 8-8 in his second year, and 5-9 this year. He's been set up nicely with some good players, but clearly management in San Fran has their eye on someone else...

Absolutely!!!!!!!!!! All we have heard all year is how you have to evaluate the talent we have. That is what the offseason is for and Preseason. I give him credit for shining the light on Torrain. He reminds me of Gibbs when he came back to coach the skins, the game had truly passed him.

He was out of the league for one year and the game has passes him by? Plus, its not like he's calling the plays.

to get rid of Shanny now would be effing retarded. Thats the problem with this piss poor franchise Danny Boy has run into the ground, too much change and not enough patience. Who the f*ck thought this team was a playoff team coming into this year? your effing retarded too

From this moment on, I am turning over a new leaf.

Yup and let's go back to RFK and wear the Gold Pants with the Burgundy tops and the Helmet with the Spear on it but only during games that start at 1:00 and the date is completely divisible but 5 because that's how many letters are in the name Cooke !

Oh yeah and Dan Snyder has to sell the team and sell it to John Kent Cooke for 6 dollars but then donate that money to The Washington Post !

i think andy reid went from position coach to head coach. some guys can do it and i though mike s. was going to be a great hc. i think his old school ways kind of did him in. all that getting in the players faces and berating them doesn't work in todays nfl. also i remember reading that his practices were a mess. very unorganized and messy. john gruden will be their next head coach.

He has been only out of coaching 1 year, unlike Gibbs who was out 12 years.

Re: Mike Singletary Fired

I truly understand where everyone is coming from, because there is no stability here. But Honestly Do you all think Shanahan will be here for over 3 years??? No.. With the talent this team has, we will continue to be an under .500 team for the next couple of years. And if you think Danny Boy is just gonna sit and let that happen. Whew, yall have something coming. As the stadium continues to have more and more empty seats due to the losing season. Danny Boy will make a splash move to get people back in the seats.

Re: Mike Singletary Fired

Diehard I understand where you are coming from but I believe you are contradicting yourself. It seems that you were saying that Shanahan should watch his backe because he hasn't done much besides sign Torrain and that you feel that the game has passed him by.

Then you say that Dan Snyder will not sit and let the team play sub .500 ball. So which is it ? Or are you one of those fans that really needs and wants that splash so that you can care again, but just can't admit it ?

Shanahan signed a 5 year deal, I expect he will be here for at least that long. I don't think he came back for a quick hitter.

Ok, Since Snyder has owned the team, when has he let a coach continue to keep the skins under .500? Shanahan is not going to be the savior all redskins fans are looking for. Reasons I say he must go, What goes thru his mind thinking he can have Grossman. That was definitely a Kyle move. There are so many things that he has done here in one year that it explains why he was fired in Denver. As far as being a fan, all this drama that has occured in the past 3 years, I am completely tired of all the big splash crap that has been going on in this organization.

Shanahan better be here for the entire 5 years. I really cant take any more "change" we need some consistency more than anything else.

Gibbs was under .500 for his 2nd stint here, and DS would have let him continue on and heck he wanted to sign him on for an extension.

So were you fine with Zorn as the HC ? Say Snyder went out and found some young guy and we are at 6-9 with that coach, would you be here calling for his head ? Only masking it with Snyders name ? Dude, we were OUT OF THE PLAYOFFS when they made the move to Grossman. WHAT IF they are saving McNabb for next year. Seeing what they have in Grossman as a #2 ? Who knows. It is Mikes first year here, give him the patience that you have wanted for all of the 3 years that you have suffered. So what who's move it was, we as fans bitched and moaned about Coaches being able to make decisions because we say that Snyder is doing it all so let the coaches do their job. So I guess you didn't like that McNabb splash either ? You should be happy with a lesser known, lesser hyped QB in Grossman shouldn't you ? Less of a splash wouldn't you think ?

Re: Mike Singletary Fired

Tough situations for Singletary to inherit but he made a good run lack of QB play really hurt but that team is underachieving they are young and likely to make it a run for the division nest year b/c Hasselback isnt getting any younger and the cards are dismantling just leaves Stl.

Hiring a position coach directly to head coach will always be a disaster, Zorn was doomed since day one, Singletary Doomed since day one. Even though he is a great motivator. They never ran an offense or defense. Even with any chance of playoff hopes, John Beck should have been getting majority of the snaps, not Grossman. That is why he got the contract extension. I am aware that Shanahan is doing everything possible to find his next Elway. But it is not Grossman. Stupid moves create a bigger splash at the end of the day.

Re: Mike Singletary Fired

Do they really ? So say they dump McNabb and draft a QB is that a splash or building for the future ? Appreciate the losses, the wins will mean much more. I don't think Mike S. or our next HC Kyle S. will be going anywhere anytime soon and I'm completely fine with that. I've got nothing but time honestly. I'll see a winner here again. And why should Beck who has the extension see more than Grossman ? If I dump McNabb then I have Grossman until my new guy is ready, or I know I'll keep Grossman as my #2. And Beck is here, so I can wait on him.

Singletary's personality did him in IMO, besides the coaches that are out there. Gruden, Cowher, Harbaugh at Stanford. You think the 49ers aren't lookinf for a splash to get things energized on the West Coast ? Probably not because they don't have Snyder running the team correct ?

Who would you rather help mold a young QB, Mcnabb or Grossman?? And to answer your Grossman question, We know what Grossman can do, its nothing different from what he has done through his whole career. Atleast by seeing what Beck can do against a Team like the Giants who are still fighting for a playoff spot can really see where he is at.

MonkFan4Life 12-27-2010 01:05 PM

Re: Mike Singletary Fired

I would rather my coach do it which would be happening. I really don't see McNabb leaving so you have my answer to the grooming questiong but Grossman knows the system so I think he could provide a little help. Could he tell me how to be elite ? Probably not, but he sure as hell can tell me where the hot read is. You have to undertand the system, Rex looks like he does. If McNabb returns then he should have a better undertanding of the system Kyle is running as well as everyone else on this teams offense.

As far as putting Beck up against the Giants ? It all depends on who the coaches throw out there, I don't give two shits who plays. I want to see a win since we won't have a chance to get AJ. Green.

Ive only watched a couple san fran games since Mike Singletary took over, but every game i saw i was like damn Singletary sucks as a coach. He had a lot of sportscenter clips and each time he said something he left me with the impression he was in way over his head with coaching pro players. He is the type of guy that sounds like he could do good as a college coach.

Plus, it was really getting old watching him feud with one of his players. I personally lost a little respect for Singletary when he immediately put Crabtree in the starting lineup his rookie season after a lengthy holdout.

Whenever I say him on TV I thought he looked like a high school coach. Between all the yelling and feuding with the players and the big wooden cross he just didnt seem like a professional coach to me. I think that act might fly in high school or a small college but that's about it.
