Draft Day Trade Offer!!!
We can post new threads! Yea! Check if already posted. Checked! This can't be posted already, it's all in my mind!
If the following Draft Day Trade offer was made, would you take it for the #10 spot in the first round? Keep in mind without a new CBA, and with the current Lock-Out, or strike, or whatever you call it, we can only trade picks! Not Live current players! If not this offer, suggest a better one! I don't think the Patriots give up #17, but that is just me. Round 1, #28, Round 2, #33, and Round 3, #74 from the Patriots. |

Not what you would expect but...

Re: Draft Day Trade Offer!!!
I'd prefer not to trade so far down in the first. If anything, I'd move down in the 2nd round
|
Re: Draft Day Trade Offer!!!
Yes, I would take that trade. We need many people more than we need one impact player. Besides, we would then have enough picks to package a move back up from #28 if we wanted to.

Re: Draft Day Trade Offer!!!
I agree w Lotus, this team needs so much talent its sad
|
Re: Draft Day Trade Offer!!!
We can satisfy all our needs, through free agency. There should be at some point the biggest free agent class ever. We need a quarterback.

Vinny??? :cheeky-sm I'm with SS, I'd rather keep 10 (especially if Jones or Gabbert is available) and trade back, maybe twice in the 2nd round to get more picks. |

100% agree with you....except I have Carolina taking him and Buffalo taking Newton. In any event I don't want us gunning for the #2 spot cause that means they are either throwing away a ton of draft picks this yr or adding picks from next yrs draft. I'd rather look like the Patriots with a ton of first day draft picks vs. the old Skins with nothing but 1 pick. I wonder what the chances are that a behind the scene's agreement is made that someone like Buffalo takes the QB we want and we take a player they want and later when the CBA is reached the two teams trade players and we throw in McNabb or another player? |

I read that the Pats are shopping pick #28 but if there is somebody that they really want who is available at #10, then they may give up #17 to get him. |
Re: Draft Day Trade Offer!!!
No team is trading up to draft Blaine freakin Gabbert.
Not the Redskins. Not anyone. |

I don't think that it should be "QB or bust" in the first round, but moving back 18 spots would probably mean missing out on the 3 top rated passers in this draft. That said, I wouldn't mind moving down there and grabbing Phil Taylor because I think he could be a great NT and that would probably mean as much to this team as any other position going forward. If that scenario played out I'd like to take Dalton at 33 and still have another top choice in round 2. I don't think I'd take the trade, but I can see some scenarios where it could easily play out in our favor. In spite of that, I don't think there's anyway the Patriots try to move UP in the draft, though, so that probably makes this discussion meaningless. |

Nevertheless, I think the Pats might just make an exception this time to get Julio Jones. Their playoff loss to the Jets showed that they need a deep threat to help out the offense and they won't have Tom Brady forever so they need to give him the weapons he needs now. As I wrote above, I would certainly insist on the 17th pick as part of the deal if they were to call about moving up to #10. |
Re: Draft Day Trade Offer!!!
The people mentioning the #17 pick are correct. I had forgotten about that one. So I change my vote to "yes" only as long as the #17 pick were included.

Amen. I hope this is the last time, at least for a while, that our record earns us a shot at a top ten talent. |

Re: Draft Day Trade Offer!!!
You know, I think this dog made the right choice. If we're taking a WR at #10, I'd want it to be Julio Jones. If Gabbert falls that far, we should take him.

We'd have the 28th pick, two early 2nds and a 3rd. What's not to like about that? |
Re: Draft Day Trade Offer!!!
We might then end of w/ some combination of Ponder, Mark Ingram/Ryan Williams Vt, Phil Taylor and a 3rd to fill in. I could live w/ that for just the first 3 rounds.
I'm the guy that was sure Brady Quinn would be good though. |

Re: Draft Day Trade Offer!!!
Here's a rather unusual scenario that seems plausible (to me at least): The Eagles are in desperate need of someone to play opposite Asante Samuel and we desperately need to trade down to fill as many holes as possible (I really don't think there is any upside to taking a QB at #10 given our other problems and we can't trade up w/o additional picks). Maybe the Eagles are actually our best trade down fit?
If Amukamara is still around at #10 (I'm assuming Peterson is long gone) this would be an appealing scenario for the Eagles. Many pundits talk about them trading with the Vikings and picking at #12 but what are the chances that one of the two CBs they'd be interested in are around after Houston at #11 which has a similar need? Shanahan was willing to deal with them last season and the Eagles made out very well in the end so why not again? I think the Eagles would see Amukamara as a good value at #10 and we'd get the additional 2nd rd (#55) pick we need + something more. Adversity might make for strange bedfellows... |
