I'm setting up a Warpath Madden League for XBoxers on easports.com. I'd like to have at least 8 teams, though right now it looks like we've only got 7 Xbox users. We'll see how many players we can get by New Year's and go from there.

Here are the parameters I'd like to have for this league:

*At least 8 teams
*At least a 16-round regular season
*3-day rounds
*Fairplay rules
*Ranked games
*Unique teams (no Redskins v Redskins matchups!)
*All-pro difficulty level
*4-minute quarters

I was thinking we could select teams based on a randomly determined draft order. Basically, I'd put all the names in a hat and draw them for draft order. I think we'd have to do the draft here, and it would basically be on the honor system that everyone would have to select the team they drafted when they actually join the league.

Alright, fellas, the Warpath Madden League for XBox is officially formed, and we are ready to begin the inaugural season as soon as everybody picks their teams.

Krills, I still need your gamertag so I can add you to the invite list!

Unfortunately, we only had 7 people throw their names in the hat, so we'll be fielding a 7-team league this go-round. Hopefully, we'll get a couple more seasons under our belts before Madden 2006 comes out next August, and we should get a better turn out for those seasons.

We'll have a 14-round season, wherein everybody plays each other twice, followed by a 2-round playoff. The 3 teams with the best overall record make the playoffs; the team with the best overall record gets an automatic bid to the championship game.

Rounds will have a 3-day limit, and there will be no byes, so we're looking at a 42-day regular season.

Games will be ranked, with 4-minute quarters, All-Pro difficulty, fatigue, injuries and fairplay rules.

Since everyone here is a Redskins fan, I've decided to draw names at random to determine the team selection order. Here is the order:

1. Kingerock
2. Dr. Drayne
3. Krills
4. sactre77
5. FL SKINS
6. FRPLG

Unfortunately, the league formation process requires me to pick a team before it will create the league, so I picked the Lions. Hope that's okay.

Kingerock, please start the team draft by posting a reply to this thread with your team selection. The remaining players will post their selections in order.

Once you have made your team selection here, I will add you to the league invite list and you may login to the league page.

Let's get this thing rolling! I'd like to start the season this week.

Couple things:

- If we play each team twice that will only be a 12 game schedule.

- for picking teams I was thinking maybe we should get rid of some teams that we've all played a thousand times (Eagles, Pats, Vikes, Falcons...). I'm tired of playing these teams and it would be fun if we all had "average" teams (like the Lions). Anyways doesnt really matter just a suggestion.

You're right. :embarrass I'll modify it so we play a 12-game schedule, plus the playoffs.

As far as the limited team options, I agree with you to a certain extent. I'm sick of playing against the Eagles, Vikes, Falcons, Pats and Colts, too. But at the same time, I've seen just about all the tricks that people do with those teams, and I've figured out how to beat all of them, so if someone wants to use those teams, I welcome the challenge.

If anyone wants to second the motion regarding limited team options, we can put up a poll, I guess. I'm okay with a vote.

Ya Joe doesn't really matter. I'm used to playing those teams too so it wouldn't be the end of the world.

I strongly considered the suggestion offered by Crazy Canuck, that we should exclude the Eagles, Vikes, Falcons and Pats. I'm sick of playing against all those teams. But I feel like if someone thinks they need to use one of those teams to be competitive, then they're probably not much of a gamer anyway, so it doesn't matter.;)

Pick whoever you want, as long as it's not a team that someone's already picked.

might we want to send some PMs to the others to let them know this is happening? It has been a while since we started this discussion and I am guessing some of them have forgotten and not checked the thread in weeks.

Yeah, FRPLG, I've been PM'ing everybody since the team selections started, reminding them to make their picks, but for some reason, it hasn't helped. I also posted a reminder in the Locker Room, hoping folks would see it there, so I don't know why we've had such a poor response.

Bengals (Crazy Canuck) vs. Titans (aehs77)
Lions (joecrisp) vs. Saints (FRPLG)

Rounds last 72 hours, so you should have until 9:00 AM Wednesday morning to complete your first-round matchups.

There are 15 rounds in all, so we should all play each other 5 times.

The two teams with the best overall record advance to the championship game.

To play your league matchup, schedule a time to play with your opponent. At the appointed time, start up Madden Live, go to Game Modes-->Online Events-->My Events-->TheWarpath.Season. Enter the league room from there and challenge your opponent.
In order for the game to count for the league standings, you must issue the challenge from the league room on Madden Live.

What's the best way to set up a time to play?

The best way to set up a time is through easports.com's challenge system. If you and your prospective opponent have both setup your calendars on your member profiles, you can simply click on your opponent's name from one of the league webpages, and it will take you to their profile page. On that page, there is a 'Challenge User' button, that will allow you to setup a time based on the playing schedules that you've both slotted on your calendars.

I strongly recommend that everyone use this feature, since it makes it much easier to find a time to play your league games.

Otherwise, you're probably best off using the private messaging service on the Warpath to contact your opponent and set up a time that way.

Looks like round one ends tomorrow at 6am, so I guess we gotta play tonight. I'm available all night tonight after 7pm.
