NFL Draft Day 2: Predictions
What are your predictions for Round 2? Who do you want to see us take? Would you like to trade down? Trade up?
Also a reminder, going into day 2 we have picks 41 and 49. GTripp's Best Available, following day 1: 16. Da’Quan Bowers, DE, Clemson 20. Justin Houston, OLB, Georgia 22. Leonard Hankerson, WR, Miami 23. Brandon Harris, CB, Miami 24. Ryan Mallett, QB, Arkansas 25. Bruce Carter, OLB, North Carolina 26. Kyle Rudolph, TE, Notre Dame 29. Torrey Smith, WR, Maryland 30. Rodney Hudson, G, Florida State 31. Jerrel Jernigan, WR, Troy |
Re: NFL Draft Day 2: Predictions
Personally I think if we want Dalton we can get him. 4 QB's in the top 12 helps us out a lot if we want to take a QB like Dalton.
Buffalo - I really think for better or worse they're not taking a QB opting to see what Fitz can do. Cinncinatti - Taking a QB this early means admitting that Carson Palmer is not coming back. Broncos - Apparently the strategy was to take Von Miller early and take advantage of a deep DT class in the second. I'm guessing Austin or Paea goes here. Cardinals - They seem dedicated to getting a veteran. Either Bulger or Kolb. I say they won't be able to protect either one when we play them. PS: Fair warning. Ricky Stanzi is a hick. Re: NFL Draft Day 2: Predictions
Dalton or Mallet ... hopefully a trade back for a 3rd.... OL DL / WR RB
|
Re: NFL Draft Day 2: Predictions
I'll go Mallett at 41
Bowers at 49 |
Re: NFL Draft Day 2: Predictions
41. Dalton/Mallet
49. Greg Little (very underrated) WR UNC |
Re: NFL Draft Day 2: Predictions
Opps...my bad... carry on...lol
|
Re: NFL Draft Day 2: Predictions
Not a prediction but my hope:
41. Paea 49. Wisniewski Adding three good "blue collar" linemen in the first two rounds would be a dream come true for me. That's the way to build a team! |
Re: NFL Draft Day 2: Predictions
No GB picked OT from MSU
I'll change anyway and go 41. Bowers 49. Mallett |
Re: NFL Draft Day 2: Predictions
16. Da’Quan Bowers, DE, Clemson
You do realize he was picked with the last pick of the 1st round by Green Bay. Scratch him off your list.
No he wasn't. Packers took Derek Sherrod at #32. Seems to me that stuffing the run up the middle has to be a big priority. Not sure if the remaining D-linemen are suited for a NT in the 3-4 though. Still, we have so many needs, I don't think I'll be disappointed in any position they decide to take. |
Re: NFL Draft Day 2: Predictions
I'm predicting one trade down and with our remaining second round pick a Wide Receiver, because lets face it. Anthony Armstrong + Malcolm Kelly doesn't cut it.
|
Re: NFL Draft Day 2: Predictions
I think at this point a QB pick would be a waste of a pick. I think Shanny had a hard on for Locker and Ponder and they are off the board so why waste a 2nd rounder on a clip board holder, rather address other needs.

I'd have to concur. The track record for 2nd round QBs hasn't been stellar lately. There are way too many other pressing issues right now. |
Re: NFL Draft Day 2: Predictions
QB
OL or QB WR or OL OL |
Re: NFL Draft Day 2: Predictions
I'd like to see:
#41 Kaepernick Colin Kaepernick - 2011 Draft Tracker - SI.com #49 Powe Jerrell Powe - 2011 Draft Tracker - SI.com |
Re: NFL Draft Day 2: Predictions
41: Dalton
49: Paea |

I had turned the TV off right after NE got yet another 1st round pick for next year...lol |

Barring that, Kaepernick. |
Re: NFL Draft Day 2: Predictions
San Fransisco is the only one i think that might take Dalton. So i think we get him though with the 41 and trade down with the 49
|
Re: NFL Draft Day 2: Predictions
^^ Yeah, I can see us moving down in the 2nd and picking up a couple of 3rds or at least a 3rd and a 4th
|
Re: NFL Draft Day 2: Predictions
Sorry for posting twice in a row but if Dalton is there we can trade down because no teams after us in the second round want a quarter back. I don't think Miami picks.
|
Re: NFL Draft Day 2: Predictions
after the 2nd we don't pick again until the 5th? Is that right?
|
Re: NFL Draft Day 2: Predictions
41: Dalton
49: Paea
i second that. |
Re: NFL Draft Day 2: Predictions
I would scratch Bowers off the board completely. The fact that he's fallen this far already says a lot.

i disagree. it would be a steal to get him in the 2nd round, for any team really. 2 months ago he was projected #1 overall. now people are worried about an injury and a workout. he will end up being very good in this league, i think people are overreacting and forgetting about his college body of work and his physical abilities. he could be a good 3-4 defensive end. plus, in the second round it'd be worth a shot i think. |

These guys have to go through medical examinations with doctors, and my guess is the report wasn't good at all which is exactly why he's fallen so much. Probably why his agent was publicly lobbying for him too. He had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee in January.
|

Two words for you: Malcolm Kelly. |
Re: NFL Draft Day 2: Predictions
I'd be thrilled with bowers , Adrian Peterson had medical concerns also..
|
Re: NFL Draft Day 2: Predictions
Several teams have scratched him off their boards. His knee is obviously a big concern with a lot of teams.
|
Re: NFL Draft Day 2: Predictions
I think Bowers was the man we wanted at the 16 spot but to be safe we went with Kerrigan.
Bowers is a good kid and a great talent but I understand playing the safe card. |
Re: NFL Draft Day 2: Predictions
I have a group of guys on my board that I hope we take a look at.
Andy Dalton QB Ricky Stanzi QB Ryan Mallet QB Marvin Austin DT Ryan Williams RB Torry Smith WR Leonard Hankerson WR Stephen Paea DT Stefen Wisniewski C Although I like the listed qb's, I would rather us not pick up a Quarterback until later in the draft. We should build the talent base for the rest of the team first. We have too many wholes to draft any qb and give them true success. |

Not with a knee. He had broken his collarbone. Knee injuries make a huge difference. |
Re: NFL Draft Day 2: Predictions
Stephen Paea DT
Stefen Wisniewski C I'd love to have both of those guys. Not sure about you guys, but I'm about sick and tired seeing Rabach get his shit pushed in on a regular basis. |

True but he's worth a 2Nd |
Re: NFL Draft Day 2: Predictions
Any interest in hankerson? I think he was the all time touchdown leader (receiving) at Miami.
|
Re: NFL Draft Day 2: Predictions
3 Ryans
16 Kerrigan 41 Williams 49 Mallett |
Re: NFL Draft Day 2: Predictions
3 Ryans
16 Kerrigan 41 Williams 49 Mallett
I like it but Shanny wouldn't take a RB that early. |
Re: NFL Draft Day 2: Predictions
I'm guessing we trade up for Mallet. How far is the question...
|
Re: NFL Draft Day 2: Predictions
I'd stay put and take BPA at #41, look to trade back with #49.
