Anyone break away from the draft to watch?

I was too caught up with the draft, but I flipped over to catch the ending. I'll watch it tonight on Hulu.

WOW me and Buster the Debbie Downers for this thread.

I use too watch thought when it was funny, then got sick of it.

To me and this applies especially to movie comedies, especially any Will F. stuff. It is just like porn once you get past the funny parts/sex the plot is awful. Nothing worst then having to sit through the last 20 minutes of a Will F type comedy so they can wrap up the story line, ZZZzzzzzz...

Great show, some really strange office comedy that parallels with some of the crap I have to deal with at work.
Dwight cracks me up.

I enjoyed it. They really tried to make the audience empathize with Michael over the past year or so, and I think episode wrapped that up fairly nicely.

I also think that they didn't want you to like Deangelo, as they didn't want people to be disappointed when the character's run ran out, and Will Farrell left the show.

I'm not that upset about Michael no longer being on the show. I've felt for a while that Nard Dog and Dwight were the funnier characters.

MTK 04-30-2011 04:17 PM

Re: Goodbye Michael Scott

Thanks for throwing the thread a life line cpayne. Yeah Deangelo definitely won't be the long term replacement. They're clearly setting up his exit and one of the special guests they have lined up will get the gig.

Well, the show's been on thin ice ever since Jim and Pam actually hooked up. It had some good story lines after that (Michael Scott Paper Company) but just lost the old zing.

Still it was a nice ending for Michael. Not a particularly funny episode, but okay.

Wrongo. In it's heyday that show was an absolute scream, and one of the most successful as a result.

By far my favorite show on tv. The ending wasnt really what i was expecting for a Michael Scott finale.

I was really suprised when they brought Will Ferrell on the show being that his comedy isn't the same dry humor that the office provides. I am counting down until the Will Ferrell audition has passed because he adds nothing to the show. If i wanted to watch trip and fall comedy I would just watch SNL.

This whole season they've tried to show that Michael is finally starting to mature a little bit and this episode wrapped that up nicely.
It still had Michael being Michael, like when he gave Kevin the picture and told him that he can lose weight. That had me cracking up.

Overall, I really liked it.

I pretty much agree. I was entertained by his opening scene in the first episode he was in (including the shout-out to the movie Old School), but I think Michael's character could have been closed out without Ferrell or any other short-term replacement. Overall, I thought the final Michael episode may not have been remarkably funny, but it was classy. I liked it.

Big fan of The Office over the years. It's obviously lost some of it's luster in the last year or two but it's still good. Will Ferrell has just been horrible unfortunately.

Will Ferrell on the Office would be like George Carlin on the 3 Stooges. doesn't work slap stick vs. dry humor.

Loved when he pulled off the mic and you could still read his lips... "That's what she said."

Wonder if the show will be brought back next year. Because the show would go with Michael Scott. If Michael goes, so does the show! Despite his second in command, would take over. But still, Michael was the heart of the show. And even Will Ferrell as big as he is, wouldn't or couldn't replace Michael Scott!

My only hope is that they have him back as a guest next season because I don't think the show can or should end without us seeing Michael and Holly's wedding.

If Ricky Gervais is the new boss (loved his cameo earlier in the season), this show can be even funnier... the UK Office is still my fave.

Re: Goodbye Michael Scott

Tonight had better be great! You'd have to think that the writer's would realize their first few post-Michael episodes need to be really strong so that people don't just assume the show is going to suck without him. I have faith that they'll get it right.

It's just not the same without Michael right now. It's going to take some time to get used to and they need to get someone in there worth watching. DeAngelo isn't cutting it and he's clearly on the way out anyway.

Hey Art Monk I agree with you on that. I forgot how good James Spader was, that was pretty damn good. I wish they showed Jim Carey's interview though ! That accent was pretty funny. I died when Dwight came in as a burn victim, I mean I was in tears !

I've read a few things that say that could be the case, or Spader.

I'm gonna say Andy gets it, and there will be a couple of new cast members to take his position and Gabe's spot due to his transfer.
