NFL Top 100
There's an interesting list of top 100 players in the NFL being put together by the NFL Network with the help of NFL players. McNabb is at 100. I wonder which other Redskin is going to make it into the Top 100. Is Cooley the only prospect? Who is in your top 10 players? Who will be #1?
I'm very impressed with what Josh Freeman did last year. He looks like the old McNabb. NFL Videos: Top 100 Players of 2011 |
Re: NFL Top 100
London Fletcher should probably be between 70-80.
Cooley should probably be around 60-70. Other than that you'd have to say that player is the top two or three players at his position. I don't think we have someone like that beyond these guys. |
Re: NFL Top 100
I heard one guy on NFL network say he thought Landry might slip in. That would be awesome but i doubt it since we have already gone through 81

Re: NFL Top 100
Do any of you guys know where the redskins rank in these top 100?
I'm sure Fletcher, Orakpo, DHall, and Cooley have to be in it somewhere |

I'm sure Fletcher, Orakpo, DHall, and Cooley have to be in it somewhere
D. Hall is a good candidate but I don't know if I could say that he's one of the top 5 or 6 cornerbacks in the league. That Hall of Fame game he had vs. the Bears might help him out in this poll though. |
Re: NFL Top 100
Nah, Fletcher might be the only one in it. I just have a feeling NFLN will be slighting us by putting McNabb in and not 3 or 4 players that deserve it.

Re: NFL Top 100
fletcher and hall should be on the list, also Orakpo

Re: NFL Top 100
The NFLN has already said that McNabb is the Redskins lone representative. If you can catch the 100-91 reaction show they let that tid bit out.

How can the NFLN slight us if it is voted on by only the players? NFL Network series ranks the 100 best players of 2011 | NFL.com |

Re: NFL Top 100
I still hold out hope for London "dot com" Fletcher with his two recent pro bowls to make the list, but is he better than Lance Briggs or Woodley? Also is number #92, Mr. Capital One, gonna make a list voted by his peers?

Ummm National Football League Noobs? Yeah, thats what I meant to say. |
Re: NFL Top 100
I'm pretty sure they said McNabb was the only Redskins that made it.
Being that they all work Sundays how much football can they actually watch? Fletch deserves to be on there somewhere especially if Jasin freakin Babin made the cut. |
Re: NFL Top 100
I searched for this on google and couldnt find anything. Does anyone have a positional breakdown of who made the top 100 (or team breakdown)? I know nfln has mentioned some of the positions, like they said there are only 6 safeties.

Re: NFL Top 100
If it is true that D.M is the lone Skin on the list then I am surprised that Orakpo, Fletcher or Landry did not make it, but I can understand not having Cooley or Hall on the list.

Re: NFL Top 100
Chris Cooley was on NFLN last night, and they said that McNabb was the only skin on the top 100...
I completely disagree, Orakpo should have been on their, as should either Fletcher or Landry. NFL Videos: Cooley: McNabb won't return |

Yet when they talked about McNabb all they really pointed to was what he did in the years leading up to 2009. Barely acknowledging how bad he was in 2010. Yes he had an average line at best, and yes he didn't have a bunch of pro bowl receivers, however there still should be a floor for someone as good as they claimed McNabb to be. A truly elite QB worthy of the top 100 would have at least thrown for more TD's then Int's and wouldn't have thrown bounce passes on third down during plays where he was protected. Someone could easily salvage McNabb's career but I'm pretty sure that if Brady, Manning, or Rodgers played for this team they still would have posted respectable numbers. |
Re: NFL Top 100
It is the top 100 players in the NFL. Not the top 100 in the 2010 season. McNabb has done more in his entire career on the NFL football field than any other current Redskin, regardless of how bad his 2010 season.

Yeah I think a lot of people are confused. This is going to be a yearly list of the top 100 players in the league, it's not just based on the previous season.
The Top 100: Players of 2011 is a new annual series airing every offseason on NFL Network that gives current players the opportunity to vote for the top 100 playmakers today, counting down from 100 to 1. With 10 players featured in each episode, each player on the list is saluted by an individual close to the subject, from a coach to a rival on the field. It's the Top 100 Players of 2011. Meaning, going into the 2011 season, who were the top players in the NFL in 2010. Pretty much every other player on the list was judged on their 2010 season, which is why guys like Josh Freeman and Mike Williams and Arian Foster will get on the list. Those were the criteria the players had; who did the players think were the top 100 players IN 2010. Much as I respect the guy, he was no a top player in 2011. It's even sillier when you consider that guys like Matt Schaub and Eli Manning were left off the list, despite playing better, posting better stats, and in Eli's case, having a friggin' Super Bowl ring. It's a huge slight that a guy like Brian Orakpo, who's gone to two straight Pro Bowls wasn't on the list by McNabb was. Same thing with London Fletcher (who, by the way, also has a Super Bowl ring, which McNabb does not have) and Landry, who was on his way to the Pro Bowl before he got hurt. For frak's sake, VONTA LEACH IS ON THE LIST! All he does is lead block! Mike friggin' Sellers had a better stastical season than him! But the only Redskin on the list is McNabb? That's ridiculous, bad season or no. Oh well. One more reason for Rak to be pissed off and rip some heads off next season... |
Re: NFL Top 100
I think Defensewins is right. It's the top 100 players that are active today. Which can be vague, but it's not limited to 2010

Maybe I have to reserve judgement on Rak and Fletch seeing as I tend to see things through burgundy colored glasses at times. However putting McNabb on the list and leaving off Schuab? That's just turrible. Then again part of me thinks they do stuff like that on purpose. As getting a bunch of people to say "that sounds about right" doesn't create as much buzz as "they left who off the list!?!?!?!" |

Re: NFL Top 100
Well it is voted on obviously by the players. I think there has to be some bias in there because of friendships and whatnot, but if a guy like Vonta Leach is voted up as high as he is on there, he must be doing something right. He did have a breakout season of sorts last year, what with blocking for the NFL's leading rusher.
I'm not sweating seeing any Redskins other McNabb on the list. I think it will honestly just make them more eager to prove themselves this season so that guys like Orakpo and Landry will be on it next season. I thought Landry himself was having a major breakout season before he got injured last year. As far as McNabb goes though, if it was ranking the top 100 players of 2010 there's no way he'd be on the list. But some players voted like they were ranking the top 100 players of 2010 and others voted based on lifetime accomplishments. |
Re: NFL Top 100
Fletcher should be in the top 10, I'd have to think he should be one of the most-respected players in the league and he DOES have the stats on top of that too.
No respect. |
Re: NFL Top 100
My top 10 right now
1. Brady 2. Manning 3. Troy Pa 4. Rodgers 5. D Ware 6. Ed Reed 7. Andre Johnson 8. Chris Johnson 9. Adrian Peterson 10. Drew brees |

Combination of the Redskins not being great and there being a collective pity party around the league for the Redskins "wronging" McNabb. |
Re: NFL Top 100
Random thought here.
The list hasn't included Julius Peppers yet. Either he isn't on there...which would be some BS Or, He's in the top 10 best NFL players...which is also some BS |

He's by far the best player on the team, I know we suck but come on people give 98 his due. And as far as JPeppers I think top 10 for him is a stretch, dware is better than JP IMO. |
Its like this list is the best players currently playing in the NFL as of 2010 AND those who had a breakout season in 2011.
