What the deal with all the tornado's this year? Feel bad for these people. Our disaster claims unit has been working overtime for the past month.

Re: Devastating Tornado in Joplin, Missouri
How horrible. It's been like a perfect storm this season with the tornado activity in that part of the country.

Re: Devastating Tornado in Joplin, Missouri
That tornado was a mile wide. A mile! That's totally crazy. I feel so bad for all these people. The midwest has been devastated this spring.

Interesting in 1st downs link is that Worcester MA has the highest death toll. I grew up in NE and never did I fear a tornado.

Re: Devastating Tornado in Joplin, Missouri
So sad..
They said this morning that we were on pace to break the record of the deadliest ever year for tornadoes in the United States...the previous record is held in 1925, where 695 people were killed in what was called the great Tri-State-Tornado. We have 455 deaths so far this year, and tornado season has i think 2 more months to go :( |

It was amazing that the doppler radar hadn't even showed a precipitation mass moving across the area. That intense storm was appeared from nothing to the west of Joplin and caused all that devestation. I don't know how you can even warn people of something that severe that just crops up out of nowhere. |
Re: Devastating Tornado in Joplin, Missouri
Was in a shelter for about an hour everything ok in Norman , F4 hit a few towns just south of us and Some of OKC was hit by a different tornado.

Re: Devastating Tornado in Joplin, Missouri
Daughter and family are stationed at Ft Leonard Wood MO about 2 hours north east of Joplin ,we were texting all night to around 2 am our time Sunday night /Monday morning all are well but I'm starting to wonder about the mid west. Two weeks ago a gunman rushed the base and ended up across the street from my grandson's school?!?!

Re: Devastating Tornado in Joplin, Missouri
We got hit yesterday with some winds up to 70mph. I think there was one flash of lighting and it fried 3 computers and all the phones in our office. So now I can't do shit but sit here and hope they get them up in the next day or so.

Guy I've done some work with online lives there. He's been raising a ton of money and helping out a lot down there. The pics he shared made it look like a post-war zone.
