Breakout Redskin for 2011-Offense
What non-rookie Redskin on Offense will have a breakout year in 2011? And why?

John Beck (or whomever Mike/Kyle pick to be undercenter) Kyle runs a pass happy offense that's seem fairly QB friendly. Kyle had a top 10 passing offense on a team with: o poor pass protection o limited WRs weapons o an inconsistent/inaccurate QB that barely knew the offense and wasn't running it right(McNabb) o a journeyman QB with limited physical talent (Grossman) can put up big If QBs in Kyle's system can good numbers under last years conditions then this year with better pass protection and a deeper WR corps an accurate QB that executes the offense as designed should be able to put up some decent numbers. |
Re: Breakout Redskin for 2011-Offense
I don't see Austin, beck, Kelly, or Williams having an impact on defense
If we're back to offense from the thread title I will say either Hankerson as a rookie or Davis if used correctly |
Re: Breakout Redskin for 2011-Offense
Malcolm Kelly will break, tear, pull, or sprain something. But seriously, it has to be Beck. He's done little in his career to this point and seemingly he's been handed the starting position.

Re: Breakout Redskin for 2011-Offense
The rookie WR from The U.

I second that. Or Roy Helu. I don't really see vets on the roster capable of "breaking out." We are a pretty bland offensive team talent-wise. A less sexy pick who I do believe will eventually be one of the finest players at his position in the league is Trent Williams. I definitely picked "other" in this poll. |
Re: Breakout Redskin for 2011-Offense
other. if i can't pick armstrong, i'm betting the field.
|
Re: Breakout Redskin for 2011-Offense
I went with Kelly, I don't think he wants to go home.
|
Re: Breakout Redskin for 2011-Offense
John beck.. Yes I'm a believer in MS and KS
|
Re: Breakout Redskin for 2011-Offense
Kelly will make the biggest impact if he can stay healthy. But that is a big if.
So I chose Austin since he looked so good in last year's preseason. |
Re: Breakout Redskin for 2011-Offense
John Beck. Liked him out of college think he has more than we've seen.
|
Re: Breakout Redskin for 2011-Offense
Anthony Armstrong if our qb play is any hood. The guy has the speed, desire and the ability to go get the ball. He is going to join the 1000 yard club.
|
Re: Breakout Redskin for 2011-Offense
Didn't AA already have his breakout last year? Unless he goes for 1500 yards and 10 TDs I think he's already arrived.
I'll go with John "serious as hell" Beck. |
Re: Breakout Redskin for 2011-Offense
Why can't it be a rookie? Because I'd put my money on Roy Helu Jr., he's the perfect kind of back for Shanny's system, and I think he'll split carries with Torain, with maybe Torain being used heavily in late game run down the clock situations.
But since this poll won't allow rookies, I'll say Beck. Unless he's one of those guys who is a leader but doesn't have the talent to back it up, he'll definitely show he's better than that horrible time he spent starting for Miami back in the day. |
Re: Breakout Redskin for 2011-Offense
I voted other. I think that Darrel Young has the potential to come up big. I know Sellers is the starting Fullback, but I believe that the Shanahans are going to go to the youth movement early and this guy stands to make a name for himself both in the running game and the passing game.

Re: Breakout Redskin for 2011-Offense
I think Beck has a good chance in this system with Kyle as his OC. If he proves himself to be a starter, that would be considered a breakout year for him. I've always thought Kelly could be a huge factor if he could stay healthy and was used correctly. I just haven't seen that happen yet. Hopefully it will this year but I'm voting for Beck.

Re: Breakout Redskin for 2011-Offense
Evan Royster or Leonard Hankerson.
I'm telling you all this Hankerson could be the next Ochiocinco/Houshmanzadeh Receiver; lower pick higher production big physical and deceptively fast receiver with great hands. |

I'll go with John "serious as hell" Beck.
He had a great year for a #2 but I am of the of the opinion that he can do much much better. I don't get why everyone thinks highly of Beck. I don't believe he is going to get that much paying time let alone have a good season. |
Re: Breakout Redskin for 2011-Offense
I think Trent Williams will break out to be even better next year.

Kind of what happened to AA last year And I'll go with Terence Austin, who I didn't entirely agree with drafting but from what I saw of him think he can be a complete WR |
Re: Breakout Redskin for 2011-Offense
Keiland Williams. I think there's a 40-60 chance against that he's the lead back this year. And if he's the lead back, I expect 1,100 yards and 7 TDs. That would qualify as a breakout for a second year back.
|
Re: Breakout Redskin for 2011-Offense
Should be a Internet law against using "breakout", Redskins, and offense in the same sentence.....lol
My vote is Kelly. |

I'm even on the verge of saying something like 24 Td's if he plays all 16. |

40-60%? How'd you come up with that? On a side note, it speaks volumes about the state of the Redskins offensively if we're considering 1100 yards and 7TDs "breakout." When Torain was healthy he was our best weapon out of the backfield. Averaging 4.5 yards a carry. I don't see Williams passing him for any reason. I'm excited to see what Helu can bring to the table. |
Re: Breakout Redskin for 2011-Offense
"with maybe Torain being used heavily in late game run down the clock situations."
So, he'll be used in one or two games this year????? lol....... All joking aside, I am hoping its malcolm kelly having the breadkout year, just because of the high draft pick we used............. but as a realist, I think that Jammal Brown is going to return to form this year, especially with an entire offseason to completely heal, and we will have bookend tackles for at least 5 years to come......... |

I'll go with John "serious as hell" Beck.
Well, he went from a warm body on the practice squad to a middle of the road NFL receiver. 44 catches. I suppose relatively speaking that's breaking out. He's proven he's worthy of a roster spot for sure. I do agree with what Saden that he's got the tools to do more. I'm sticking with my Trent Williams pick. |

Do you think Williams/Helu will finish 1-2 in carries because Torain gets hurt? If not, why do you see them supplanting him on the depth chart? |
Do you think Williams/Helu will finish 1-2 in carries because Torain gets hurt? If not, why do you see them supplanting him on the depth chart?
He could win the lead back spot, but with Williams being good in situations and on special teams, he's seemingly going to have to beat out Helu for a spot on the roster.
Maybe Helu plays teams and we'll end up going Torain-Helu-Williams on the active roster with Royster off the practice squad. But without the ability to cover kicks, Torain doesn't have an obvious spot beyond "featured RB", where he simply wouldn't appear to be the best option. |
Re: Breakout Redskin for 2011-Offense
Torain should be the guy for sure this season.. If he stays healthy look out
|
Re: Breakout Redskin for 2011-Offense
Other. I'm going with Graham Gano. I don't see Beck handling Red Zone duties all that effectively in his first year with Kyle's offense. If he struggles then KW, MK and the rest would also have stat compiling problems. Except for Gano who we know can pound it out from 50+ yards.
|
Re: Breakout Redskin for 2011-Offense
I think Hankerson should have been listed but...
I voted for BECK. I wanna see an accurate QB behind center. As long as he doesn't turn the ball over and just gets the ball in Santana (who should be resigned), Hankerson, Cooley, Davis, Keiland, Armstrongs hands well be better off. Let the playmakers do they're thing. Problem is... we need somebody explosive to better the QBs we keep throwing in this system. Sign D Williams or somethin we need somebody. |
Re: Breakout Redskin for 2011-Offense
I went other. Rex is going to be the starter this season and go to the pro bowl.
I went other. Rex is going to be the starter this season and go to the pro bowl.
As long as he keeps his head above the level of most other team's backups, he should at least be in line as an injury replacement.

But can he make a 27 yarder consistently? |
Re: Breakout Redskin for 2011-Offense
Definatley Kelly. I think he might be able to do it this year. Hate if you want but i think he will play more than ten games and do very well.
|
Re: Breakout Redskin for 2011-Offense
I think we will resign Devin Thomas and he and Kelly will be the greatest one - two receiver combo in the league.
hahahahahahaha |
