Prospects for McNabb in Minny
Ray Didinger has covered the NFL for more than 35 years for newspapers and as a producer at NFL Films. He is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a writer.
Here is his assessment of Donovan McNabb's prospects in Minnesota... Didinger: Don't expect McNabb revival with Vikings |
Re: Prospects for McNabb in Minny
Why do we need a new thread about a player who is no longer here?
|
Re: Prospects for McNabb in Minny
We already have a current McNabb thread too.
|
Re: Prospects for McNabb in Minny
I'd rather read about John Beck's prospects here in Washington. No offense but nobody is going to give much of a crap about McNabb's prospects in Minny, most of us have already moved on.

Re: Prospects for McNabb in Minny
His prospects include heading out to the Mall of America.

Re: Prospects for McNabb in Minny
Awwww...
I wanted a Jason Campbell thread. :spank: |

Nope. I could ask you the same when you created the Saunders/Campbell thread. |

It was quite clear that Campbell was a mere afterthought and that how Saunders evaluates his QB is what was important. But of course, the heuristic addicted human mind does not care for such things. It sees a noun, and it jumps to conclusions. |

I was asked about a Campbell thread, and I showed the most recent one. Chill out dude, I'm just joking around. |

You should start a John Friesz thread. |
Re: Prospects for McNabb in Minny
I like McNabb and wish him well in Minn. I believe the offensive system there is more similar than dissimilar to Reid's so maybe he'll feel more comfortable right off the bat?

Waiting to see someone sign up with the name Friesz Fan. |
Re: Prospects for McNabb in Minny
I genuinely like Donovan McNabb as a person, even though i never felt that he was going to be the solution here.
I feel sorry for him right now because everybody knows that he's done except him. The article about his bleak prospects in Minnesota kind of made me sad, because they are really kind of kicking a guy while he is down. The Doug Pederson reference is also a very sad thing, as now McNabb will get to know what it was like for Pederson when he started half of McNabb's rookie season. He will now know what it is like to be viewed as nothing more than a stop-gap. Ironically enough Pederson is now the QB coach in Philly. I just dont see McNabb going the way of other washed-out ex-star QB's and settling into the backup role. I believe we may be seeing his last season in the league. |
Re: Prospects for McNabb in Minny
honestly I will never think of McNabb as a redskin

Just a guess here - - but I think he would prefer never to think of his season as a Redskin too. |

Re: Prospects for McNabb in Minny
I'm trying to undertand how a guy that played here for all of 1 season get's so much sympathy. I mean what the hell is going on here ? He didn't even play that great, but we can give him all the time in the world but a coach runs out his welcome after the preseason. I mean damn.

I'll think of his time as a Redskin much as I'll think of Jason Taylor's time as a Redskin: nonexistent in the annals of Redskins history. Or better yet, that 2nd round pick that never saw a return on its' investment. I will admit I'm still curious to know if that tidbit I read about Kyle Shanahan warning his dad not to trade for him is true. But then again we'll probably never know. |

I'll be honest with you it's only because i get the impression that Donovan is a nice guy in real life, he always seems so cheerful and friendly, and it is good guys like him that you sort of have to feel bad for when their career is ending. It doesnt really have anything to do with him being a skin for one season, it's just like "dang, he was such a good guy, it's a shame his career has to end like this". let me paraphrase what Ken Shamrock said about people hanging on too long, he is talking about fighting, but you can easily apply his words to any professional sport. It's probably the greatest thing i've ever heard when talking about someone's career going on when they are past their best. He said when somebody is a champion in the sport, how are they supposed to know when it's over, when the injuries don't heal and the losing streak doesnt end. How are you supposed to know when to give up when your whole career has been about working through the injuries and not giving up! Donovan has had to deal with injuries and stuff his whole career, and now that he is at the end, he, like many others, will have a hard time admitting that is is coming to an end.. |

That is not "proof" but there are enough of these "anonymous sources" that I believe that Kyle Shanahan was against the trade from the time it was first proposed. Just my opinion... |
Re: Prospects for McNabb in Minny
Wow, look at how depressed he looks. What did we do to him?

I do tend to believe that, it's just a shame knowing that we probably gave up a 2nd round pick for a guy our offensive coordinator didn't want. Oh well. You live and you learn, hopefully. |
