Carlos Rogers Drops His Heart in San Francisco
Significantly less than he was looking for.
Instead of getting Nnamdi money, he's signed a one year deal with the Niners. Probably worth around $4 million. |
Re: Carlos Rogers Drops His Heart in San Francisco
Kinda wish we could have kept him regardless of dropping picks, which started when he dropped that pick 6 in the playoffs in Seattle years ago... he was a good cover corner and I think the d will show his absence.
|
Re: Carlos Rogers Drops His Heart in San Francisco
Carlos was probably surprised to find the market for his services was not what he thought it would be. One year deal....um
|
Re: Carlos Rogers Drops His Heart in San Francisco
I'm surprised that he could not get more than a one year deal. I know the drops are not a great thing for a CB to have but he is an above average cover corner.
|
Re: Carlos Rogers Drops His Heart in San Francisco
I hope this brings him back down to earth. He thought he was an elite corner and thought he deserved to be paid like it. Fact remains, he is a good cover corner, aggressive tackler, but when it comes to elite you have to be a playmaker. He just wasn't a playmaker. I'd take him back in a second. I always thought he could cover anyone, wasn't really concerned about the picks, although it was frustrating.

Re: Carlos Rogers Drops His Heart in San Francisco
A shame we couldn't keep him. I hope Josh Wilson is a capable replacement.
|
Re: Carlos Rogers Drops His Heart in San Francisco
Yeah especially for that price tag, one year 4 million. Wonder if he ust wanted out of here no matter what?
|
Re: Carlos Rogers Drops His Heart in San Francisco
Doubt we'll miss him much.
|
Re: Carlos Rogers Drops His Heart in San Francisco
^ not buying that
|
Re: Carlos Rogers Drops His Heart in San Francisco
If he was so valuable we could have kept him fairly easily. It was time for everyone to move on.
He's not as bad as his detractors say, but certainly not as good as his supporters think either. |

Or as good as "he" thinks he is.... |
Re: Carlos Rogers Drops His Heart in San Francisco
Certainly not has good as he thinks. The market spoke, and he's in SF on a one year deal. Nuff said.
|
Re: Carlos Rogers Drops His Heart in San Francisco
Sad to lose him this way. Josh Wilson is not a capable replacement. It's going to be amusing to see teams go to work on him.
|
Re: Carlos Rogers Drops His Heart in San Francisco
Rogers to Wilson will be a fairly even trade off. Wilson has more speed and better ball skills but is small, Los is bigger and more physical, but doesn't make many plays.
|
Re: Carlos Rogers Drops His Heart in San Francisco
Damn Los, how big is that bruise on the ego?
|
Re: Carlos Rogers Drops His Heart in San Francisco
Sad to see. Smootsmack pointed out a couple months ago that his agent was the same one that Dockery had when he left. Both guys wanted to stay but had an agent that thought they could get big $. Dock did, Los not so much. He should be here, would've been better for both sides, but it sounds like bridges were burned & both sides had to move on.
He likely lost his last chance at a good deal several months back w/the Skins. Testing the market is always a risk. |
Re: Carlos Rogers Drops His Heart in San Francisco
Watch him have a pro bowl year with the niners, would not surprise me. I wish we would have kept him.
|
Re: Carlos Rogers Drops His Heart in San Francisco
If Rogers caught a few more balls that were thrown his way he'd be making Hall money. His ego got put in check but I really don't think Wilson is any better. He got burned several times last year.
|
Re: Carlos Rogers Drops His Heart in San Francisco
Everyone knows my position on this. Not happy to see him go, but it seemed like he really didn't want to be a Redskin. Regardless of how you feel about his skills, if his heart and mind are not fully committed to us it is best he moves on.

Re: Carlos Rogers Drops His Heart in San Francisco
IMO he was A bust for where he was picked

I'll miss Los and his coverage abilities. I won't miss his hands. Good luck Los and have some dungeness crab for me.

I don't see him coming back a la Smoot in 07.

Re: Carlos Rogers Drops His Heart in San Francisco
Rodgers was a solid if unspectacular corner. Hopefully, Wilson makes the transition well and was not a product/beneficiary of the many other playmakers on the Ravens squad.
Regardless of his skills, and I think he was the best corner on the roster, I am glad he is gone - I get the feeling he was a mini-Haynesworth in some ways. Certainly seemed fairly divalicious at times and a bit of a pouter. I am pretty sure, just based on what he signed for and where, he just wanted to be outta here. |

It would shock me. He's not a pro bowl corner. Never was, never will be. We saw his ceiling and it was not a top 10 corner. |

Re: Carlos Rogers Drops His Heart in San Francisco
Here's my take on Rogers. He's a very good coverage corner and he can help just about any team. While people probably get on him too much on the dropped picks, I think is because our has always been in desperate need of a playmaker. Yet, I think that if he was better at holding on to picks, he could probably have gotten the money that he wanted from the Redskins or any other team.

The way i feel. I also think he was the best corner on the team and we are going to miss him. Wish we could of kept him |

We have a playmaker now. He just can't cover and loses his jock trying to tackle Jake Delhomme. :) |

I am telling you, if we can combine Rogers and Hall we'd have the perfect CB. LOL. |
Re: Carlos Rogers Drops His Heart in San Francisco
Blah.. So don't care about his departure. Team needs to wipe the stank off of the last few years and he was part of what created the smell in the first place. Niners D will blow this year.
|
Re: Carlos Rogers Drops His Heart in San Francisco
There isn't anything new I can add to this thread, so I'm just going to agree with everyone else. Sounds like he wanted out of here, I'dve been fine with him coming back, but if the best he can do is 1 year for 4 mil, then maybe he'll realize the market isn't what he thought it would be.

Still, he had some serious delusions of grandeur. He thought he was going to command top flight money, and instead couldn't even muster a multi-year deal. Memo to Carlos- teams don't throw money at cornerbacks with no hands. |

I agree as far as the skill set comparison, but Wilson is 4 years younger, so I'd say it leans in our favor. |

Word. Plus Wilson seems to be on the upswing, while Rogers has been consistently inconsistent for all these years. |
