What do you think about your boy Urban strutting around Ohio's campus?

Wish UVA could be good one year

I think he'll be Ohio State's coach next year, that's what I think. You can go home again. That's where he got his start in coaching as a graduate assistant. |
Re: Official 2011 College Football Thread
David Wilson gonna be an ok tailback
|
Re: Official 2011 College Football Thread
Got that right Chico.
Halftime of VT-Appalachian State, and so far VT is busy convincing App State why they need to stay in D1. Logan Thomas has had his moments so far, but David Wilson is pretty busy showing why we shouldn't be too concerned about the loss of Ryan Williams and Darren Evans (100 rushing yards, 3 tds). |

I'd be pretty surprised if they're not playing in the ACC Championship game with a schedule like that. |

Thats the ACC these days. But if you look at their 5-6 year schedule their not afraid to go outside and play a Boise, USC, LSU, Alabama etc. In fact I think for 3-4 year straight they played the eventual so called national champion for that year...USC, Alabama, LSU(?)...they need to win one of those. But next year they start a series with OSU or Wisconsin I believe. There is no excuse for FSU NOT winning the ACC year. none. |
Re: Official 2011 College Football Thread
Auburn way to step up defending that national title at home against....Utah St? Wow beautiful

Yeah I just checked and that's definitely true. I don't know, I guess we've had enough of scheduling top 5 teams that kick our ass so we have just decided to play it easy this year. I doubt this is an every year kinda thing though, normally we usually mix in a couple top tier teams on our non-ACC schedule every year. And don't look now but Auburn has come back and is beating Utah State. I guess I have a soft spot for US because that's Chris Cooley's alma mater, it'd be nice to see them pull the upset, even though Auburn is nowhere near the team it was last season. |
Re: Official 2011 College Football Thread
I think the ACC championship this year will be FSU-VT again. Nothing's guaranteed anyways. FSU has gotten a lot better.

Wasn't pretty, but they won. Auburn lost A TON of the guys who them a title. They're going to struggle this year. As a matter of fact, they'll lose to a rising Miss St team next weekend. SEC West is a tough as it's ever been this season. Auburn, LSU, Miss St, Arkansas, Alabama.... sheesh. |
Re: Official 2011 College Football Thread
I bet Saden1 is steaming over the fact that his Ducks lost another game to an SEC team. One with 3 really important LSU players suspended no less. Eeesh.

Re: Official 2011 College Football Thread
Was happy to see Notre Dame lose...and what was that bullshit game delay twice to break USF's momentum. Never seen anything like that in my life. Brian Kelly has to be the biggest prick in college football.

No excuses for Auburn with that performance. Utah St really not a good team. |

Boise St kicking off the year again beating a good team, no surprise

What was it that kept causing the game to be delayed? Weather? I don't think they clarified it enough on the highlights, or maybe I wasn't paying enough attention. Either way great start for ND hahaha, they're clearly headed on the right path. 3 turnovers inside the red zone? Now that's how you win football games. |

Well, the first game delay was basically a bad storm hit the area - rain, lightening, wind, etc. But I've definitely seen worse conditions. The second delay was even more absurd, there was nothing. It was the threat of something that never actually happened. It was all around bizarre to say the least. |

UGA a good team?? Dont make me laugh

Big win Quake. Les is the man and knows how to keep it exciting. Oregon and Auburn both gonna be hungover from last year. GA nots bad at all...they got the talent, coaching is suspect. That game score closer than it actually was. I think the two schools from Oklahoma are going to be great. Alabama and LSU gonna be great again. FSU is going to be very strong. Scud's Florida team is going to compete for the top spot in their division. Their is a ton of good QBs this year. Next years draft is going to be stocked with them. |

Can the NCAA step in and force Notre Dame to join a conference? They haven't been relevant in many years and it looks like they won't be any time soon. At the least they should remove that stupid BCS rule about them. |

Wu Marshall got called off early too. Very frustrating. Maybe there is a new weather mandate in the NCAA this year? |

Yeah heard about that too. I think the NCAA is taking weather a lot more seriously this year than in year's past. I can't remember seeing this many games delayed, or in Michigan's case ended, over weather concerns in one weekend no less. |

I'm not sure if the NCAA can "force" a school to join a conference and I'm not sure there's much incentive for Notre Dame to do so given their exclusive agreement with NBC that runs through 2015. Which is probably a big sticking point with the BCS rules committee. That said, Notre Dame has increasingly found itself on the outside looking in when it comes to matching the success of the other major programs around the country. I think their inability to recruit top notch talent like they once did has been a major cause for their decline over the past decade. Not to mention the carousel of coaches. I believe they just stop paying Ty Willingham for his contract just two years ago. I wonder what GMScud thinks of Notre Dame's failure to field a powerhouse. |

Terps unis trending hard on Twitter right now. Seems like a lot of people hate them for some reason.

Theyre horrible. I like the no names on the back team first thing, but they are horrible. |
Re: Official 2011 College Football Thread
Yeah I dunno about those unis...they look weird. Oh well, as long as they win, I don't care what they wear. Go Terps!

first not sure if it's new but the whole time i was watching the wvu game leadin up to the storm they kept talking about lighting strikes withing 6 miles, from now on if there is a lighting strike within six miles of a stadioum game is postponed for 30 minutes minimum. the rule seems a bit over kill, and the worst part is they haven't really figured out what to do when the game is postponed. when the wvu game was stopped they had everyone huddled in the tunnles just waiting. then the two schools AD's have to get together and decide if they want to call it. it's def somthing that needs to be addressed asap. now as far as md's uni's they are complete crap and very distracting, somthing tells me they will change, i hope these were just a one time deal. and as for no name on the back i couldn't disagree with you more. in college football the players change every year and i like having the names on the back so it's easier to identify a player. georgia did somthing even more annoying imo though by putting georgia on everyones name plate, that was even worse than the no name. |

Then they said the storm was continuing its path North West but that the stadium was south of the storm. Then they cut the game off. They definitely need to do something about coming up with a better way of handling it. I was watching on espn3 (its officially crunch time for the whole no cable thing) which made it even harder to figure out what was going on. It is hard as hell to keep up with players when their names arnt on the jerseys in college, but I still prefer it. |
Re: Official 2011 College Football Thread
At first I didn't like the new Maryland uniforms, but they've grown on me. I think moreso that there are a lot of people who don't like them than anything else. I think if you take the helmet out of the equation, the uniform is quite sharp. I like the fact that they are completely different and UA thought outside the box on them. And quite honestly, I like them better than what Nike puts Oregon in...
With that said, Edsall said the captains decide on the uniform combinations each week, but that he made the decision last night. UA and the AD got what they wanted. National attention to the football program. Everyone has been talking about them, and I'm pretty sure you'll have a select few who tune in just to see what they're wearing next. I was more impressed with the players wearing the uniforms than the uniforms themselves. Even with Miami missing 8 players, their depth is much stronger than what Maryland can put on the field. Edsall has the Maryland players believing in themselves and that they can beat anyone. Danny O'Brien turned a lot of heads with his performance. If he can cut out the mental errors, he could be a darkhorse Heisman candidate in the next 2 years. |
Re: Official 2011 College Football Thread
If they wanted publicity mission accomplished. But still, they are fugly. The helmet is a hot mess.

Re: Official 2011 College Football Thread
There should be some job vacancies on their.....fashion team today..
|
Re: Official 2011 College Football Thread
I was there last night and when they came out in those (they warmed up in the all white unis that were introduced a few weeks ago) the crowd, especially the student section, when nuts. The players have said they liked them a lot, both the look and the way they actually felt which is great because the weather was miserable.
So if the student section loved them, the players were proud of them, and a good portion of the country is talking about them, I think they were a big win. |
