I had to do it Moob, just was bored. The only new thread in here was the one about Garrard being released. I am not sure I would want him if the Jags got rid of him.

Just was a bit bored, and saw the fox sports ranking and made a thread. Only other new threads were the Garrard being released and NFC East prediction thread. The NFC East thread is good for debate, etc. Garrard sucks so I doubt not too many guys would want us to go for him.

While power rankings are fickle and unreliable, it is hard to blame someone for ranking us low. Wrecks Grossman is our starting QB. And some players who seem promising to us are unknown outside of the circle of Redskin diehard fans.

Man, this isn't working out as expected. Was hoping for more critical discussion of the said pundits and /or the team. I just think the bad rap is with the QB situation. NFL.com fantasy doesn't give Beck much love either.

Power Ranking threads generally aren't successful. Because when we're ranked low it's media hatting...and when we're ranked high (as in the fall of 2008) these rankings are the freakin' gospel

Did you read the discussions in the ESPN power rankings thread? Power rankings are stupid, and there isn't going to be any intelligent discussion about them or the writers, considering they're written by national pundits whose go to line is "this team has no qb so they're doomed to fail."

You're not likely to find intelligent discussion about that, especially considering we're ranked so low. Even if we were ranked in the top 10, I wouldn't care. They are just made to create discussion. It's always the same discussion though. If your favorite team is ranked low, most likely the discussion will be about why the teams play the game, because words mean nothing. If your team is ranked high, the discussion is probably going to be about what a boost of confidence it is (Not that I would know, considering the Skins have been ranked 10th or higher probably like 5 times in the decade I've been a fan), or how we think we could beat (Insert Contender Here) because we're ranked higher than them (which I don't think people would be stupid enough to actually think that, but you never know).

Either way, my entire point is, power rankings are stupid. And that's the only argument you'll get out of me. There used to be a time when I was young and naive enough to care what the power rankings thought (check the threads I've created over the years for an example or two), but I'm a little bit older and wiser now ;).

Well, they also had us going to the Super Bowl not long ago. On a related notes, Ross Tucker had us at 19 in his rankings on the Football Today podcast.

I think the rankings for week 1 are just about right for the Redskins. We were 6-10 and the preseason doesn't mean a damn thing. Time to prove it when things matter and then the respect will come.

I think the Skins have the least amount of coverage of any team in the NFL. I don't know why people hate/dismiss them so much. I used to think it was because they haven't played well in so long....but neither have a lot of teams. Anyone have any idea?

From the media's perspective, it's like this. We didn't go out and sign any big names this offseason, so how do they know we got better? In fact, by signing a bunch of marginal role players and drafting for a lot of positions that aren't quarterback, which was the main hole on the team, it's a sign that we've gotten worse.

You have to earn your media love. I don't know why so many people are interested in the media telling us how great we are before we have proven anything. The Redskins are a historic franchise with a lot of fans...if they start to win consistently the media love will come in buckets.

What have we done to deserve any media attention other than have a QB battle between two guys who excite no one outside of Redskins Nation? Sure the drama is gone, but we have done nothing to generate a positive buzz?

We are a 6-10 team with no QB until we prove otherwise. Until we prove otherwise, it should be expected for us to be ranked in the bottom third of the league.

Its those media idiots who have us ranked as one of the 3 worst teams or getting only 3 wins that deserve to be treated with contempt b/c [I]those[/I] media guys have clearly done no research (comparing strength of schedule, looking at roster changes, factoring in 2nd year of players in system, etc.).

But you know what? I don't care where they rank us. I just care what the final score is.
