That is because the Redskins have the best fans in the league!!! Now there is proof!!!

skinsguy 01-04-2005 12:42 AM

Although at times we can be mighty fickled!

Redskins_P 01-04-2005 12:45 AM

Best fans in the world...

Gmanc711 01-04-2005 01:43 AM

Most loyal fans anywhere, are Redskin fans!

jamf 01-04-2005 01:59 AM

awesome guys.

i used to drive to pheonix every year to see the card vs skins... :(

wow i cant believe the raiders are second to last... and dallas is 20th.

Daseal 01-04-2005 09:46 AM

What about the COLTS! Is their stadium tiny or what?

Daseal 01-04-2005 09:47 AM

jamf - aren't the San Diego Super Charger tickets still fairly easy to come by and compared to FedEx - Cheap?

sportscurmudgeon 01-04-2005 09:50 AM

Folks:

I don't want anyone here to dislocate themselves by patting themselves on the back, but the reason the Skinis are first in attendance is that they have the biggest stadium in the league by a lot and can fit more fannies in seats than anyone else.

Fed Ex is not sold out very often. Watch on TV and look at all the bright yellow seats.

 I was waiting for SC to come through and rain on our parade....LOL

cpayne5 01-04-2005 10:22 AM

Interesting that the Giants drew more fans than the Jets. (same stadium and all)

Aren't you the one who keeps telling us 6-10 equals 6-10, not 9-7, 10-6, etc. and that in the league's records we will be a 6-10 team regardless of any other factors we would like to consider?

Well, guess what, in the league's records for 2002, 2003 and 2004 - The Skins had the most fans come to their games, regardless of whether or not anybody's stadiums may be bigger, smaller or uglier.

So there!!

MTK 01-04-2005 11:39 AM

Aren't all the games technically sold out?

The yellow seat people are all inside, if they actually sat in their seats the place would actually be full.

MTK 01-04-2005 11:41 AM

We should at least give ourselves a little credit, the team hasn't been to the playoffs since 1999 and we still manage to pack them in year after year.

Even you SC has to be impressed a little by that.

Kevikazi 01-04-2005 12:26 PM

Now, only if we can keep those pesky Eagles and Cowboy fans from showing up at FedEx fields........seems like there's quite a bunch of them when I was there.

aehs77 01-04-2005 01:13 PM

see dan snyder can do something right

The bright yellow seats are club level, have you ever been on the club level? Thats where my seats are. The club level is always packed on teh inside, since its heated, has leather sofas and reclines, lots of bars and restauraunts. The people are there they just arent always sitting in there seasts. The skins are sold out for the next 25 years, and have been sold out for atleast the last 25 years. So if you think they dont sell out a lot then youre simply mistaken.

sportscurmudgeon 01-04-2005 02:04 PM

Matty and SkinsnCanes:

The Redskins have what are known in the TV business as sell outs which means that the local stations can carry the games without a waiver from the Skins ownership. If they did not sell out those seats, they could not televise home games here. HOWEVER there is a technicality here in the TV contracts.

Premium seats (Club level and Luxury Suites) are not counted in terms of sell outs. The seats that count are the ones that are not "premium seats". So the Redskin games are sellouts.

But there are seats that are not filled because the tix are not sold. About those club seats you have SkinsnCanes, can I just walk up to the ticket booth and buy one for a random game in November? No I can't. Those are sold only by subscription meaning season tickets for a fixed period of time. And that is why there are always empty yellow seats. Even if every ticket holder went to sit down and actually - you know - watch the game on the field, there would be yellow seats showing.

Even with all that, Fewd Ex holds more than 90,000 people and I believe the next largest field is Giants Stadium at 78,500.

Some teams play in really small stadiums - and don't fill even the small ones. Jacksonville has under 60,000 seats and will "cover over" about 10,000 next year so that it does not look so embarrassing on TV when visiting teams televise theri games at JAX back to the home area. Atlanta had one sell out for sure this year and I BELIEVE that the rest of their home games had unsold seats and would have been blacked out in Atlanta but owner Arthur Blank gave the local stations the OK to do the Falcons' games because he sees local TV as a marketing tool.

You've heard about how great "Raider Nation" is? Well, prior to this year, Oakland had had 3 sell outs in the previous 2 seasons and in their final game this year on Sunday, they had 41,000 in the seats. Of course, Al Davis blacks out the games locally if even one seat is unsold...

Considering the Redskins record since 1991......I STILL think it's remarkable!!!!!
:HTTR: and their fans..............

Curmudgeon-
I have club level seats, and I can assure you, they are not that easy to come by. Yes, they are season long packages, and yes, there is turnover with them. But during any given game, those empty seats can be accounted for by some nouveau-riche douche-bag in The Humidor cigar lounge, or some lingerie models having a Cosmopolitan drinking contest at the Starboard bar (which I've actually seen, accounting for one more empty seat). If the seats aren't sold out every year in club, they are damn close. Are they sold to those who would most enjoy the games being played on the field? Not always, but they don't make you fill out a questionnaire when buying them. Besides, the checks cash either way, and unlike some owners, the money seems to make its way onto the field.
