Just want to give Andre Carter props
He is a class individual and it is a shame it couldn't work out here. Here is a good article from the Boston area if you want to read it:
Andre Carter finds what he wanted with Pats - BostonHerald.com
“There were just times I felt uncomfortable (as a linebacker),” said Carter, whose team went from a 4-3 scheme to a 3-4. Carter was due a $4.1 million option bonus last offseason, which he figured was unlikely to be paid. The sides could have hammered out a new deal. Instead, Poston met with Redskins general manager Bruce Allen to set him free. “The first thing I asked (Allen) was, ‘What were your future plans. We would really like to ask for a release,’ ” said Poston. “Sometimes, if the player indicates that he wants to go in a different direction, the team might allow him to do that. Bruce Allen said, ‘If (Carter) feels like that’s what he wants to do, we’ll go ahead and release him.’ ” Carter’s release happened on March 1. Through a Redskins spokesman, Allen said recollections from the Carter camp are “true.” He also described the parting as “mutual.” The respect from both sides was clear.
Nice to see our organization is treating the good guys with respect, even if they don't fit here any more. Good luck AC |
Re: Just want to give Andre Carter props
Andre Carter was a class act all the way .. hard worker .. just never quite fit ... there were a couple bright years .. wish him all the best in New England .. not that other fat lazy piece of sh*t
|
Re: Just want to give Andre Carter props
Its also nice to see a player leave here and not end up in NY or Philly . Class move by Skins : AC , class act .
|
Re: Just want to give Andre Carter props
HATED to see AC go....but it was clear the 3-4 was not working out for him. I to am very glad the organization treated him with respect that he deserved and willing to honor his release.

Re: Just want to give Andre Carter props

Re: Just want to give Andre Carter props
Why do we care about him he's a Patriot now!!! Get over it!!!!!!!!!!
:P :cheeky-sm just getting that outta the way |
Re: Just want to give Andre Carter props
Carter is a kind of guy that you want on your team. Thanks for the thread.
|
Re: Just want to give Andre Carter props
What do you expect? He went to Cal just like Lorenzo Alexander, Nhamdi Asomugha, Aaron Rogers, Alex Mack, Tony Gonzales, all of them class acts. The only punk out of Cal is Desean Jackson.
|
Re: Just want to give Andre Carter props
Even though Carter was never meant to be in a 3-4, he gave it his all while he was here and we all know that's not something to be taken for granted around these parts. He was a fine player in his own right as a 4-3 DE and I wish him future success, because he was one of those guys we never had a problem with the entire time he was here.
|
Re: Just want to give Andre Carter props
Always liked AC & thought he grew as a run-stopper here, always was a good pass rusher. Too bad he & Jarmon couldn't make the transition. I wish rosters were bigger & guys like AC could stay in a backup role. He can't play OLB but he could be a situational DE in nickel.

in terms of Haynesworth, respect is a 2 way streak. None given none deserved. I am not sure about Rogers, I think that he was given every opportunity, but he saw his worth as far more than the Redskins did. Remember that we are not discussing VC's/DS treatment of players, but BA and MS. Was he bad mouthed, or held hostage here by them? |

No doubt. |
Re: Just want to give Andre Carter props
it's hard not to give respect to a player when it's blatantly obvious they give it they're all whether they fit in a system or not. On the other hand it's very hard to give respect to a player that tiptoes around work because "he doesn't wanna play that way."
May our future be filled with many Andre Carters and far fewer Albert Haynesworths. Rogers was ready to go before Shanahan even got here and once he realized that he wasn't thought of as highly by ShanAllen as he thought he should of been, he felt disrespected. |
Re: Just want to give Andre Carter props
AC did nothing but get with the program while he was here. Too bad AH didn't have the same attitude. AC is a team player...can't get enough players like that.

Re: Just want to give Andre Carter props
Casey Rabach could have used a thread like this instead of the TON of hate he received for his retirement party. :(

wait what? Rabach retired? and Rabach was a case of, no longer good and getting pushed around. Carter was good but didn't fit the system. |

The only players that get love when they retire are players that actually contributed over a period of several years. Rabach's leaving was about 3 years overdue, so our lasting memory of him will be how he was overmatched physically. Mentally he was smart, but mental smarts only get you so far in this league. |

Yeah LaVar Arlington never gets any respect. :laughing- |

Rabach was used up and he deserved to be dumped on....after years are service to the skins? Sarcasm gets by you a little easily now doesn't it? @polywog: Portis contributed way more than rabach did while he was here. |
Re: Just want to give Andre Carter props

@polywog: Portis contributed way more than rabach did while he was here.
Really? I didn't notice that over the last few years when he contributed almost nothing.
Rabach's leaving was about 3 years overdue
It's like we are talking about the same guy! Real reason: people are enamored with 'stars'. |
Re: Just want to give Andre Carter props
You're the one that mentioned Rabach and a retirement party. I'm confused now.
and no Rabach was not more valuable to the Redskins in the last three years than CP, save for last year. |

and no Rabach was not more valuable to the Redskins in the last three years than CP, save for last year.
Since Portice came to the Skins, he has averaged about 4.1 ypc. Incredibly pedestrian. In 2009 CP rushed for a grand total of 494 yds and 1 TD. |
Re: Just want to give Andre Carter props
Since Portis came to the Redskins, he had Casey Rabach blocking for him. There you go.
He's second all times as a Redskins rusher, and he holds the single season rushing record. You'd think that would mean something. |
Re: Just want to give Andre Carter props
Andre Carter is a good man and player. HE is a great dude, and I wish him all the best. I hope he plays well for NE except for a game in December at FedEx.

Re: Just want to give Andre Carter props
Portis got ran into the ground in 2004, contributed as the only rushing threat during our playoff season in 2005, was injured for most of 2006 due to playing hard in the preseason (which is one of the things the haters have criticized him about on the boards), contributed again during our playoff season in 2007 (lets not underestimate the impact he had rushing the ball in the 4 consecutive games we won to make the playoffs when Todd Collins was at qb), still had an okay season in 2008 (despite the fact that it was obvious he wasn't the same back from years of wear and tear, and I also agree at this point we should've either sought an upgrade or another back to compliment him), and then from 2009-2010 was injured and/or ineffective.
Rabach on the other hand played decent from about 2005-2007 (when he wasn't costing us games with extremely ill-timed penalties, cough SD cough cough), and was equally ineffective after that. And there's no way people can claim Rabach was better at his job than Portis was from 2005-2007. Portis' success directly ties into the offensive line's success, and even when the offensive line had success Rabach was usually pointed to as the weak link on the line. If you don't think I wasn't calling for an upgrade over Rabach during and/or after 2008, feel free to go browse through my posts from that time period. I'm sorry but there's no way people can consider Rabach had a better career over Portis from 2005-2008. |

Haha, well just proves my point. Actually looking to move out there at some point so I guess it was just a subliminal thought. |
