Wait..... did you just start a new QB thread?

Already looking towards the 2012 draft for a QB clearly shows you don't have confidence in Beck. Bad Ju Ju.

It's not for me though. I'm waiting to see what Beck can do. Enough people are talking about it where it warrants it's own thread. Hopefully now the other threads can be dedicated to current Redskin QB's.

This

If we're not going to suck for Luck RGIII looks like a beast. Has the athleticism of Vick, with an 80% completion percentage, and the maturity to revive a program that has been the doormat of the Big 12. The only thing I'm afraid of is that come draft time he's going to shoot up other team's boards.

not sold on landry jones as an elite prospect. like i said RGIII is my favorite and i think he would fit perfectly in our system. accurate, a leader, and extremely mobile. plus he just keeps getting better. kellen moore would be good too, regardless of arm strength issues. hes smart, reads the game well, is extremely accurate, a winner, and has a quick release.

tannehill is a good shout, but i dont know about top 3.

I wouldn't even put Luck in the conversation. No way we'll be in a position to draft him or pay the price to move up to get him. I haven't seen much of the others, but RGIII has been impressive so far. Still 3 big games to go for him.

Re: 2012 QB Class

Let's say the redskins go 4 and 12, or even worse 3 and 13....it is completley possible in Washington....would that record still not be bad enough to get Andrew Luck?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not wishing for that at all, but just curious on just how bad a team needs to be in order to get the 1st round, 1st overall pick.

I was just looking for a way to start the thread without a specific explanation so I settled on rankings, and once I settled on rankings I figured that any 2012 QB class ranking list needs to start with Andrew Luck regardless of the remote impossibility of us being in position to draft him.

My bad ESPN for some reason list him as a Senior on his player card. On the other hand I did not know this bit of trivia.
Luck was born in Washington, D.C.,[3] the son of Oliver Luck, current athletic director and a former quarterback at West Virginia University and former NFL quarterback for the Houston Oilers, and Kathy Wilson Luck. Andrew Luck spent his early childhood in London, England and Frankfurt, Germany, where his father was general manager of two World League of American Football teams prior to becoming president of the league. He is the oldest of four children, Mary Ellen, Emily, and Addison, who currently reside in Houston, Texas. In London, he attended The American School in London.[4]

I rather see us go for Tannhill or Barkely. Isn't the Wisconsin QB a senior? I like RGIII, but I want to see him play the bigger boys before I want him on the Skins. Outside of Oklahoma, OSU, and Tex A&M, the Big 12 sucks as bad as the Big Ten this season. To be honest from what I have witnessed, I rather get the kid from Wisconsin over RGIII.

What's with Tannhill? I wouldn't mind him in on the second or third day but QB's with such little experience don't usually fare well at the NFL level. Remember this is a guy that spent the first 30 games of his college career playing receiver.

Thank you. I've been looking for an opinion from a big name scout. Mostly everything else I've heard has been from Bleacher Report types.
ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. says Moore is "at best, a late-round pick." The scout quoted earlier, a Moore fan, ticked off his two most commonly cited shortcomings: size and arm strength. On the subject of size, it wasn't so much Moore's height that concerned him as his lack of bulk. The scout wonders if the quarterback, at 191 pounds, can handle the pummeling he'd take in the league.
Granted Kiper has been wrong before but a big part of his research comes from conversations with NFL scouts so I have to imagine that that grade for Moore is rooted partly in how he is viewed by NFL front office personnel.

I really think Kellen Moore is the best option for us to draft. He plays under center, and sells a great PA. He's highly accurate, and is a proven winner

only seen a limited amount of him this year but his acuracy is amazing from what i have seen. i don't think he will slip as far back in thee draft as people think, i could easily see him going in the 3rd or 4th. kid has a hell of an arm Kellen Moore Stats, News, Videos, Pictures, Bio - Boise State Broncos - ESPN

No one has mentioned the kid from Michigan St. Curt Cousins has a strong arm has been playing in a pro type system and can make ALL the throws. He isn't have a spectacular year this year, but he really isn't surrounded by a great team and suspect Oline. I have a feeling when the season is over and the combine starts he will quickly move up to the top 3 QB's in the draft.

If he is coming out. Not sure if he is a junior or senior

Re: 2012 QB Class

Rumor has it that RG III might stay another year attending law school. This dude is "super smart" (yes, I quoted Gibbs) and is an amazing talent. I have seen him play twice in person vs. Texas and he is a freak. I too think he would fit nicely in the Shanny system.

Russell Wilson is a senior. He wants to play in the NFL (was drafted to play baseball too). I wouldn't count him out. I don't think he's very tall which will turn alot of scouts off. We'll see. Richmond guy though.

I have not looked into it enough to know yet which guy I like, but what I do know is that Shanny & Allen better be prepared to trade up to secure their guy this year. There is no more time to wait around hoping our franchise QB falls into our laps...

He is a Senior, but he also has one more year of eligibility left. So if you want to call him a redshirt junior I suppose that's fine too.

You have made this argument before. And you are absolutely right. We need to go all-in on a top-notch signal caller, price be damned.

Re: 2012 QB Class

I have been hyping up Kellen Moore since last year. I think he could play in the pro's, but like Kiper said before, Ty Detmer, Colt Brennan, Ken Dorsey (?), they were all good college QB's and flopped in the NFL. I could easily see Kellen being the next Kurt Warner as much as I could see him being the next Ty Detmer.

I've read a lot of articles on this. I just think that when its all said and done, whether Shanahan/Allen like him or not, they're not gonna draft him and him only as the next starting Skins QB. I would see them drafting a Nick Foles/Tannehill in the first and Kellen in the 5th type scenario, but I couldn't see us doing a G/MLB/CB 1st, G/MLB/CB 2nd, Kellen 3rd type scenario...Although I would.

SmootSmack 10-20-2011 01:44 PM

Re: 2012 QB Class

I'm all for getting 2 QBs in next year's draft.

We had a few of those guys come in a few months ago and they ran some drills. If the game was all about passing drills, I'd probably take Nick Foles 10 out of 10 times. But when he's in an actual game, I'm just not overly impressed.

Russell Wilson, 5th year senior and transfer from NC State. From my hometown of Richmond. Went to Collegiate (a private school). ESPN had a really good show about him. He is playing really well for the Badgers this year.

It's settled then Foles and Moore 2012!!

Seriously though, I'll have to go back and watch tonight's game. But like I said he came to campus with Matt Barkley, and-jeez I'm drawing a blank on the other guys-I want to say Ryan Lindley and some other dude. Anyhow, Foles showed the strongest, most accurate arm of the three. Easily

At this time , things look good for the Skins , as the QB class has a number of possible NFL starting qb's . If we take a qb in rd 1 or 2 , and Moore does fall into rd 4 , I would like us to take him also , hard to see him lasting that long .

CultBrennan59 10-20-2011 11:29 PM

Re: 2012 QB Class

I think part of the reason foles isn't getting much respect from the scouts (or hype I should say) is because he plays on a bad team, whose a bottom dweller in their conference, much like Jake Locker with washington (the only difference is that Locker was hyped up whereas Foles isn't because of Luck and Barkley)

Top prospects IMO:

1. Luck
2. Barkley
3. Foles
4. Jones
5. RG3
6. Moore
7. Cousins
8. Tannehill

First 5 listed are very legit 1st round talent.

Re: 2012 QB Class

Haven't watched any OK football, but has Landry Jones regressed? I thought most analysts considered him just behind Luck.

There's alot of football left to be played this year. My guess is we'll draft in the 13-17 range. If so, we could potentially move up to a top 5 or 6 and the cost wouldn't kill us. It helps that the worst teams don't need qb's.

Indi, Car, St Louis don't need a qb but each could and might take Luck. I don't think Carolina would but Indi and St Louis might.

Not in my eyes. I think Landry Jones would look good in burgundy and gold. His numbers so far this year:
rating 156.0
comp pct 67.6
yards 2177
ypa 8.6
TD 16
INT 6
