My question is: who is this guy?
David Anderson, WR for the Houston Texans at NFL.com Apparently, he played for Kyle Shanahan in Houston for the Texans a few years back. So, he's a veteran WR who knows the offense. More than likely he's the Wes Welker type. Just what the Redskins need. He's still young too. Only 28 years of age. |
re: Redskins Sign WR David Anderson/Cut WR Donte Stallworth & DT Darrion Scott
So because he's worked with Kyle, he should have an idea of the offensive playbook, right?

More than likely Anderson should know it better than some of the Redskins receivers who have been in the offense long enough to know it. So, it looks like his signing is a moral upgrade. He's not Andre Johnson, but at least he's someone who knows where he's supposed to be. Just a competent presence on the field with the offense. More than likely, a Wes Welker type. |

re: Redskins Sign WR David Anderson/Cut WR Donte Stallworth & DT Darrion Scott
To think we thought we had soooooo many wr's in pre-season to the point where we had a hard time picking and choosing..... Now we sign Dave Anderson..... Wow. What a difference 9 weeks makes

Dude your Sig Rocks!!! Ah the famed Collins to Yoder combination still brings a tear to my eye, as does this season. :food-smil They might as well have signed Dave Mathews, he would have brought more to the table. :towel: |
re: Redskins Sign WR David Anderson/Cut WR Donte Stallworth & DT Darrion Scott
well, i too am glad we just saved our season.
|
re: Redskins Sign WR David Anderson/Cut WR Donte Stallworth & DT Darrion Scott
Real question is who is getting cut. Obviously there is a problem at the WR spot if they are bringing in yet another WR.
|
re: Redskins Sign WR David Anderson/Cut WR Donte Stallworth & DT Darrion Scott
OMG! Hello fantsay wavier wire! I can't wait to get this guy!
|
re: Redskins Sign WR David Anderson/Cut WR Donte Stallworth & DT Darrion Scott

My guess as well. Armstrong or Austin would be surprise cuts, but I could see either one gone. |

Thats right. That is just crazy. Where is the Redskins sign OL? Geez. |
re: Redskins Sign WR David Anderson/Cut WR Donte Stallworth & DT Darrion Scott
Banks is the one that should go. Guy hasn't done squat this whole year except **** up.
|
re: Redskins Sign WR David Anderson/Cut WR Donte Stallworth & DT Darrion Scott
Perhaps this guy is a very good ST player. Who knows?
|
re: Redskins Sign WR David Anderson/Cut WR Donte Stallworth & DT Darrion Scott
Yup. I was a Banks Backer but the guy just hasn't shown up. Not sure if it's the guys around him, but he hasn't been the game breaker we were hoping for.

Yeah, I too am disappointed that he hasn't shown up. But fielding and then fumbling a punt at the three yard line has nothing to do with the guys around him. |
re: Redskins Sign WR David Anderson/Cut WR Donte Stallworth & DT Darrion Scott
I guess I'll be the guy that says it. Super Bowl bound!!!!!
|
re: Redskins Sign WR David Anderson/Cut WR Donte Stallworth & DT Darrion Scott
Can he run back kickoffs and punts?
|
re: Redskins Sign WR David Anderson/Cut WR Donte Stallworth & DT Darrion Scott
Can he throw the ball downfield with accuracy? Nope! Can he protect the QB? Nope!
I'm still hoping we give Royster a shot, even though Tashard Choice is here now, we still need to give Royster one and see what he has. And whens Kareem Moore getting off that PUP List? |

Great, another target for Beck to miss.

re: Redskins Sign WR David Anderson/Cut WR Donte Stallworth & DT Darrion Scott
As long as it doesn't get in the way of Paul/Hankerson getting playing time, this is perfectly fine with me.

re: Redskins Sign WR David Anderson/Cut WR Donte Stallworth & DT Darrion Scott
Why does it take this administration so long to figure things out and move in another direction. I mean, we've seen this movie before.
Who was it last year, ...Joey Galloway. This year Stallworth. There's a stubborn reluctance on the part of Shanny and Kyle to admit that this team is rebuilding and let's just go with the youth movement from the jump. It's silly. |

It's not just roster moves though: how many announcers this year have called out the team for the complete lack of a hurry-up offense? It seems like when we finally do go no huddle late it games we've already wasted too much time. |
re: Redskins Sign WR David Anderson/Cut WR Donte Stallworth & DT Darrion Scott
Stallworth served the exact same purpose Galloway did last year. If you ask Armstrong and Austin last year they'll tell you Galloway was a huge help for them in learning the WR position and adjusting to life in the NFL. I'm sure Paul and Hankerson would say the same about Donte.
I think Donte can still play (though not if there's no QB) and don't believe he was necessarily impeding of Paul and Hankerson. Meaning if Donte wasn't here, there probably would have been some other player/reason not play those two until now. Still, he had become unneccessary and it's the right move to let him go. |
re: Redskins Sign WR David Anderson/Cut WR Donte Stallworth & DT Darrion Scott
So Stallworth was good enough to help the younger guys get on the field, but not good enough to get onto the field himself? Sounds like he needs to be a WR coach or next time, just let Keenan McCardell go instead.

Now it makes sense. I'm reading the post about who we are going to cut thinking its right there in the title. |
re: Redskins Sign WR David Anderson/Cut WR Donte Stallworth & DT Darrion Scott
Kyle probably told his dady if he just had one more WR he could get the O clicking.

It's about time this move was made.

Stallworth, at least to me, was a very mature fellow, and that probably helped the young'uns along, even though he did nothing on the field. *Human capital is the stock of competences, knowledge and personality attributes embodied in the ability to perform labor so as to produce economic value. It is the attributes gained by a worker through education and experience. (from Wikipedia). /plug for an concept used by economists. :) |
re: Redskins Sign WR David Anderson/Cut WR Donte Stallworth & DT Darrion Scott
Two points:
1. "He was in Houston with Kyle so he knows the offense..." Please remember that Rex Grossman was also in Houston with Kyle and he also "knew the offense". How'd that work out...? 2. The reason the Redskins need 8 WRs on the roster is that only 1 of them is any good - - and he's injured. Because the Redskins have 8 WRs on the roster, they did not have the option to keep sufficient numbers of offensive linemen that they need/needed to plug into the lineup. I'd rather see the Redskins sign an offensive guard and release a WR. |
re: Redskins Sign WR David Anderson/Cut WR Donte Stallworth & DT Darrion Scott
One more point. The day the Skins signed Stallworth, Doc Walker had him on the radio show. Walker went nuts about how Stallworth was a "baller" and someone who would "open the field" and who would make defenses game plan to stop him. Walker said that Stallworth was a stud.
Add Donte Stallworth to an ever-growing list of guys that come to DC with Doc Walker slobbering all over them and who leave town with all the fans just shrugging their shoulders and wondering why it took so long. Previous examples:
Juwann Howard Jaromir Jagr Adam Dunn Albert Haynesworth - - he would make the OL better because they would have to practice against this monster every day. [stifling a laugh here...] Donovan McNabb
Oh and don't forget his fawning all over Joe Gibbs' return along with Joe Bugel and now Mike Shanahan... |

re: Redskins Sign WR David Anderson/Cut WR Donte Stallworth & DT Darrion Scott
The world needs more people like Donte Stallworth (and yeah I'm not forgetting the manslaughter charge), but the Redskins don't really need more people like him
|
re: Redskins Sign WR David Anderson/Cut WR Donte Stallworth & DT Darrion Scott
Moss is hurt and Paul is out for a couple of weeks, so that's two receivers down. I think people tend to forget that your lower level WRs on a roster also tend to play on special teams. Lower lever OL tend to sit on the bench or sit inactive until needed. So a) WRs are more likely to be added to an active roster than OL midseason because of the versatility they offer and b) What OL are out there
