1st round trash pickup=success this year
Two teams that not many people thought would be any good this year are the bengals and the raiders. One link I saw in the two teams is the pick-ups they've had recently. In the last two seasons (most of them this offseason) the Bengals have acquired Reggie Nelson, Kelly Jennings, Manny Lawson, Thomas Howard, Cedric Benson, and Nate Clements (and Taylor Mays went in the 2nd...but isnt really contributing).
The raiders have not done the same exact thing as the bengals considering they paid a pretty penny for most of their former first rounders, and their numbers are not as numberous, but they have gotten Jarvis Moss, Aaron Curry, Kamerion Wimbley, Richard Seymour (who never had a trash year), Carson Palmer, (and even though he went in the 7th) TJ Houshmandzadeh. It seems picking up past potential in bulk seems to be paying off this year. Even guys like maybin on the jets look like they are contributing. |

The Skins picked up Kentwan Balmer, we'll have to keep an eye on him.

Lets see how their year ends.

I know he's currently hurt and he's probably not returning to the team, but he's most of the reason they made that ridiculous trade for Carson Palmer. They knew they were in the race and they thought they needed a QB, after Jason went down, who could help them stay in the race. Not a criticism, I'm just sayin'. |

He was an overall #1 pick in the draft back in the day... I wonder if he still remembers how to get to Redskins Park? |

Odds are pretty good that their seasons will end on a higher note than the Skins season will end... |

And they didn't even re-sign 2 of their best own picks in Jonathan Joseph and Justin Smith. I also think there was a redskins team with 13 in the Joe Gibbs era? The team with mike rumph maybe? |

Haha after I saw that I couldn't even concentrate on the rest of what he said. This feels like that post I made on picking college captains last year.....just not as much fun to post a bunch of pictures of Trash as it was of Captains I guess. |

Stallworth, Grossman, D. Hall, Carriker, S. Moss, Phillip Buchannon were all other teams 1st rounders too. |
Re: 1st round trash pickup=success this year
The Redskins should have kept Stephen Heyer. The Redskins could use him on the offensive line right now. He's better than Locklear.

I guess it only works when they are the fillers, not the main guys. But also I forgot to mention the 49ers I know have a few guys in Ginn, Rogers, and Whitner. All top 10. Hell the pats have been doing this for years, and still are in ochocinco (technically a 2nd), haynesworth, carter, ellis, bodden, waters (last two weren't 1st rounders but was former good player turned to trash by their respective teams). |
Re: 1st round trash pickup=success this year
Most of the players listed play supporting roles instead of being THE KEY to their teams' success.
