Gross.
What a way to ruin perfectly good vodka. |

Re: Liquor for real connoisseurs.
I could see if you wanted to play around and mix up some Popov or Burnetts for a party or whatever but Stolichnaya?
No way! |

No way!
Yargh, Burnetts. I made that mistake one time just to mix it with like some girly stuff for my wife. Worst. Headache. Ever. |
Re: Liquor for real connoisseurs.
I like Sky vodka myself.
|
Re: Liquor for real connoisseurs.
Skyy is a nice middle-ground vodka for sure. I either get that or Smirnoff. Main thing is that I don't get a headache. Neither of those do it for us headache-wise.

Re: Liquor for real connoisseurs.
Vodka shouldn't give you a headache (well, drink enough and it can of course), it's the sugary mixers that will do that.
I'll normally go for Grey Goose, and I have some good local stuff in my area that's top notch too Core Vodka, Harvest Spirits LLC, Valatie, NY - Small Batch Distilled from Hudson Valley Apples Lake Placid Spirits |
Re: Liquor for real connoisseurs.
I got a bottle of this once.
Damn good stuff. Red Army Vodka: Home |
Re: Liquor for real connoisseurs.
I'd buy that just for the bottle

Ah, Burnetts. Their flavored vodka was my drink of choice back in the day. Cheap and got the job done. |
Re: Liquor for real connoisseurs.
I don't get vodka. The better it is, supposedly, the more forgettable it tastes. Scotch and bourbon 4 life!

Was listening to NPR or some podcast and they talked about this. They had a bleu cheese infused vodka. Sounds pretty odd. I'm def. more of an Irish whiskey drinker (Redbreast), but if I go vodka it's always potato. |
Re: Liquor for real connoisseurs.
Went to a Macallan scotch event a couple of weeks ago. Pretty impressive inventory, not to mention I was hammered when I left.
Definitely like my Jameson, Bulleit, and Woodford. Bourbon for life is right! |
Re: Liquor for real connoisseurs.
I prefer bourbon but sometimes nothing beats an ice cold extra dry vodka martini.
|
Re: Liquor for real connoisseurs.
Yea.....I love dirty martinis with Stoli.
I add some extra stuff with the olives some times. I took this picture of one a few years back. |
Re: Liquor for real connoisseurs.
I hate dirty martinis

Re: Liquor for real connoisseurs.
That reminds me of the bloody mary's from Miss Shirley's in Baltimore.

Re: Liquor for real connoisseurs.
Nothing beats a good bloody mary. I used to turn my nose up to them, but once I finally tried one I was hooked.
Or a soup! LOL.
I'm actually going there tomorrow, how did you like it?
Like I said, I've only been there once, but that was like 2 years ago and I still think about the breakfast I got all the time. In fact, I was just looking over their menu again and getting hungry. "Sunrise Benedict $14.99 - Poached Eggs & House-made Slow-Roasted Carolina Pulled Pork on Corn Bread Rounds with Collard Greens made with Tasso Ham & Cajun Hollandaise Sauce" This was probably the best breakfast I've ever had, even if it did take about a year off my life. And Matty, I'm the same way. I just assumed I wouldn't like bloody mary's before but now I think about ordering them at night. I love spicy and salty foods, so why the hell not make incorporate those tastes into my booze?!?! |
