What is Matt Flynn Worth to the Redskins
Mat Flynn looks like a probowler today. I hope the our first move we make in free agency is to sign Mat Flynn. I know it is only one game, but he is the best QB available. I think he will get a contract of about 8 million. I am pulling the trigger and if Rg3 comes available I am taking him also.

re: What is Matt Flynn Worth to the Redskins
Yeah i said earlier in the season that Matt Flynn would be a priority if i was the Redskins. Signing Flynn would allow us to use our first three picks on CB, WR, and OG/C

An extra T and N. LOL.

re: What is Matt Flynn Worth to the Redskins
Matt Flynn might end up being better than the two guys the Redskins went with this year, but I don't think he's a long term NFL starter. He can play in the Packers offense. But that's like Cassel in the NE offense.
It's a lot of money and a lot of headaches down the road. No thanks. |

Madness? MADNESS? THIS IS.... THE WARPATH! |
re: What is Matt Flynn Worth to the Redskins
I'd take my chances with Flyn waaay before I'd hitch my wagon to RGIII.
|
re: What is Matt Flynn Worth to the Redskins
Getting Matt Flynn would be what the old Redskins would do. We're drafting a quarterback, and if he sucks then we'll suck, but we've gotta do it the right way.

You are seriously tripping. RG3 is a has elite accuracy, elite arm, and elite mobility. He graduated in the top 6% of his class in just three years. Plus I think he's only 21 years old. You must don't watch to much college football. Now I will admit that I do like Flynn. But RG3 has the potential to be a superstar qb in this league. You don't pass on him. |
re: What is Matt Flynn Worth to the Redskins
Matt Flynn smells of Scott Mitchell.

31-44 480 6 tds just sayin lol

I agree. Sign him and draft at least one qb. We need competition at the position. |
re: What is Matt Flynn Worth to the Redskins
Matt Flynn is a great backup QB who knows Green Bays offense probably better than Aaron Rodgers (being that he's always on the bench with the clipboard studying and seeing the film a different way than Aaron).
Having said that, We need to draft and develop a QB before we just go and commit to ANOTHER Free Agent (QB). I do think Flynn wouldn't be a bad option, and this game is no fluke; he definitely has something there and Yes is definitely better than Grossman. I think based on team, offense, etc. Flynn is a better QB than Cassel. If we got him I wouldn't be upset, I just prefer we draft and develop someone young. |

Yes I am showing my age. :) I actually would not mind having Flynn to provide competition. But Flynn likely would be very expensive, thus hampering competition and the development of a rookie. |

I agree with you. The Redskins should get rid of Grossman and Beck and add 1 QB through free agency and another through the draft. After what I saw of the awful and oftentimes comic relief level of play of QB play this year, both the starter and the backup positions both need upgrading. |
re: What is Matt Flynn Worth to the Redskins
Mark Brunell, Aaron Brooks, Matt Hasselbeck, Aaron Rodgers. All backup Packer QB's. All of which has led their team to the playoffs at one point or another. 2 with Super Bowl appearances, 3 with conference championships appearances.
Matt Flynn is the next Packer backup to succeed as a starter elsewhere. Plus he played in the SEC so the Lions D was like super easy for him to pick apart today. |

re: What is Matt Flynn Worth to the Redskins
Flynn would allow us to not give up draft picks. Whatever the FO thinks is best I'm with.

43. Next years QB Class is ______ A. Always Better B. Never Better C. MATT DAMON! D. Rodgers > Rogers :D
Flynn would allow us to not give up draft picks. Whatever the FO thinks is best I'm with.
This. A 1,000 times this. If Flynn is your guy then sign him. If RGIII is your guy then trade up for him. Just get someone that will help us win a Super Bowl. Still it would be nice to say DC, home of Ovechkin, Strasburg, Wall, and RG3. |
re: What is Matt Flynn Worth to the Redskins
Flynn made himself a ton of money today

No the Redskins would go after a guy who was at the end of his career and pay him all the money. Matt Flynn is a west coast QB. His skill set definitely fit the Redskins and what they want to do. What he did today was amazing. 480 yards and six touch downs. Believe me you have to have talent to throw for that many yards. This guy is young and can do all the things the Shannahans want. I think this could be the guy. I was not sold until I saw what he did today. He performed as well or better than Rogers, he is a guy we can win with now. He Also allows us to fill other needs, with our draft picks. My guess is the Browns will be feeling the same way, since Holmgren already found a QB in a back up for Green Bay. |
re: What is Matt Flynn Worth to the Redskins
Haven't seen enough of Flynn to give an opinion. He had a hell of a day today though. GB has got some major talent though, but still a remarkable accomplishment.

Hmm, I'm sure folks have said(not necessarily here) stuff like Ryan Grant is irrelevant. Their oline sucks Their receivers suck It's all Rodgers taking them along for the ride. |
re: What is Matt Flynn Worth to the Redskins
I suppose we could sign Flynn, trade down get an extra pick/picks get a CB, WR in the first round, C, QB, LB and whatever else we need in the other rounds.

If Matt Flynn didn't play today would you be saying this? This thread would look pretty silly if it was posted without his performance after today's game. Looking a lot into one matchup against one team. It's wild speculation to assume that he is as good as his performance today. His talent level is probably somewhere in the middle of his best & worst day. Can't put too much stock into Flynn at this point. Good for GB that they have a capable backup, but I doubt his skills translate immediately to other teams. |

I look at it like this. If we cut his production in half today he would have had 240 yards 3 TD passes and 1 int. Wonder what would happen if we cut Tebow's production in half. |
Flynn just played himself into a chance for a nice free agent deal.

Flynn is the next Matt Schaub. Except this time we don't have to give up two draft picks to get him.

re: What is Matt Flynn Worth to the Redskins
Does Flynn bring Jordy Nelson and the McCarthy's scheme with him?

I told my brother Rex Grossman could not through for 480 yards and six touchdowns with Art monk, Jerry Rice, Randy Moss, and Wes Welker. With Gonzolez at TE and Walter Payton setting up the play action pass. |
What do you think is so different about there system?
The fundamental foundation it is built on? We do very little of what they do in the passing game. We're both zone running teams, but that has nothing to do with Flynn.

You OBVIOUSLY don't watch NFL football. In all seriousness though he does remind me a bit of Schuab. In part because he's had not only strong preseasons but strong showings in limited regular season action. Both QB's also didn't have the strongest arms. I believe theres something there with Flynn but either way the Skins have to plot the course early. Do you make a strong offer for Flynn or do you hope you can trade up in the draft to get RG3 . You can only try both if you loose out on Flynn in Free Agency. |
re: What is Matt Flynn Worth to the Redskins
Plus he played in the SEC so the Lions D was like super easy for him to pick apart today.
This is the bottom line. Well, not the SEC part, but that the fictitiously good numbers came against a totally outclassed defensive team.
Someone will pay him. If the Redskins do, I think they are right back to where they were with McNabb. A guy who just doesn't fit their system. |
re: What is Matt Flynn Worth to the Redskins
All it takes is one GM's mancrush on Flynn. I do not believe Shanahan is that guy though. He likes his QBs at least a little mobile...although Kyle might beg to differ...but Kyle is the subordinate.

re: What is Matt Flynn Worth to the Redskins
So, we sign Flynn and draft Blackmon with the first pick and then OL or CB with the 2nd.
