2012 Bowl Prospects and Declared Underclassmen
Who has caught your eyes at this years bowl games?
Who has declared? Put them here since we are overlapping threads with Andrew Luck and RG3. |

Re: 2012 Bowl Prospects and Declared Underclassmen
man this thread is just getting a lot of posts and attention!
Lets me get this thread going I really liked what I saw from Tyler Wilson QB Arkansas last night. Great passer, not as good of a calm passer as Luck, but had a lot of similarities to him. |
Re: 2012 Bowl Prospects and Declared Underclassmen
I know he is just as good as not better than ryan mallet. Not a statue, big arm, and accurate. Missed the game and haven't seen him in extensive action. but interesting none the less. I don't know if he would declare since he has only started a year and would start again for the Razorback.

Re: 2012 Bowl Prospects and Declared Underclassmen
Blackmon certainly upped his stock, like him a lot. I'm a Hokie & love David Wilson. Attempting to put bias aside, I know Richardson & James are great, but I don't see their value being that much, if any, greater than Wilson. The kid has big time speed & runs strong after contact as well. Probably ranks lesser in recieving & blocking. IF we wanted a rb in the 2nd round he'd be great value. I don't see that happening even if he's on the board, but at the same time I wouldn't be surprised cause he's a Shanny kinda guy.
I thought Kirk Cousins of Mich. St. looked pretty good as a mid to late round pick. Nothing spectacular but maybe a guy that can grow & become a good backup or avg. starter if our presumed franchise qb doesn't work out. |

Well it's official now. Great opportunity to get some extra scouting in

Re: 2012 Bowl Prospects and Declared Underclassmen
League office decides, but it's essentially reverse order of record or as close to it as possible. So he should be coaching Tannehill, Foles, and Weeden

Wonder if he would grab Tannehill with the #6 if RGIII is off the board? (providing he really liked the guy) Would be interesting to see where he grades and if Mike would move back and then pick him up. |
Re: 2012 Bowl Prospects and Declared Underclassmen
He should totally sabotage Tannehill so no one wants him and we can steal him in the 2nd :)
It was in last year's Senior Bowl that the Bengals fell in love with Dalton And, interestingly enough, the Redskins drafted more players from last year's Senior Bowl (6) than anyone else |

Its not quantity; its quality. Shanny had a good draft last year and with a closer look hopefully he can have a better one this year. |
Re: 2012 Bowl Prospects and Declared Underclassmen
Haven't seen many Bowl games this year but a few players caught my eye. I'll refrain from comment on the usual suspects for the most part but I'll mention a couple of them.
For Oregon, most of the players who caught my eye were underclassmen (Boyett, Alonzo, Tuinei). Watch out for them next season! LeMichael James may be the most explosive player in college ball. I'd love to see him as our 3rd Down Back. Their TE Paulson was way downfield blocking on plays and he can catch, too. I like him a lot. Wisconsin: The only thing Russell Wilson lacks is height. He is one heck of a player! I really liked OT Ricky Wagner. He's big, tough, skilled, and he runs well. Nick Toon is a big receiver who catches everything. He uses his size well to beat DB's. Toon may be underrated IMO because Wisconsin doesn't throw the ball very much. Montee Ball is terrific but he said that he's not coming out. Michigan State: I liked what I saw in Cousins. He showed me that he's at his best in the clutch. I like that a lot. I'd bet that he makes it in the pros. Jerel Worthy looks like a pro DT to me. South Carolina: I love Stephon Gilmore as a player. He's another player I'd like to see in B&G. Oklahoma State: Give me Markelle Martin! He is a free safety with good size and speed. He covers a lot of ground, fast. But here's what I like about him the most: he hits people! Could we please have a FS who wants to hit somebody? He could wear the B&G, too, as far as I'm concerned. CB Justin Gilbert looked like has talent, as well. Georgia: Brandon Boykin is one heck of a player. He plays CB/RB/PR/KR for the Bulldogs. All-Purpose should be his middle name. |

He reminds me of a young Donovan Darius/Deon Grant type of FS. With OJ being bad, and DeJon being a work in progress, and Landry uncertain of his return next year, we need a guy like this. |

Re: 2012 Bowl Prospects and Declared Underclassmen
I hope everyone here watched Bama (and some of LSU's) defense tonight. They looked like an NFL defense going against a college offense.
Courtney Upshaw DE/OLB Donta Hightower ILB Dre Kirkpatrick CB Dequan Menzie CB Robert Lester S Mark Baron S Gentry DE Chapman NT That defense is all future nfl players, and should be skins possibilities (especially the secondary, DE, and Hightower) |

Sunday is the deadline for underclassmen to declare for the draft.
LSU's defense is insane as well.
Claiborne Mathieu
Yes to claiborne no to mathieu, he got targeted the whole game last night and showed why his size will be a factor in the nfl, he's too small. |
Re: 2012 Bowl Prospects and Declared Underclassmen
Peter Konz, Center, Wisconsin has declared for the draft. He is considered the best Center to come out since Nick Mangold.

no to mathieu, he got targeted the whole game last night and showed why his size will be a factor in the nfl, he's too small.
I'll agree that Mathieu had a rough night, but before last nights game, I was convinced he had the most talent of any player in the nation at his position. This guy is a GAMER, he'll go first round. |

Unfair that all the good guards/centers are left for the elite teams haha. |

no to mathieu, he got targeted the whole game last night and showed why his size will be a factor in the nfl, he's too small.
Well you're insane if you say Mathieu can't play at the next level. Also Baker Brockers Montgomery Reid Taylor Simon Brooks Both D's are sick. |
Well you're insane if you say Mathieu can't play at the next level.
Also Baker Brockers Montgomery Reid Taylor Simon Brooks Both D's are sick.
He can play, just can't start on a defense unless the team opens up in nickel. People were asking me and other draft analysts where I'd put him, I'll say 2-3, I've only seen one other analyst that would put him in the first round and that was the late first, by Matt Miller. Definitely not worth a first round pick for a nickle back/RS. And LSU's defense is great, with great players, I was just focusing on Bama's because their guys stuck out a lot more last night, and because they won. |

Jared Green, WR, Southern - the son of HOF Darrell Green, this kid is a burner, he ran a 4.3 at the HBCU Bowl, a burner for real Diamond in the Rough: Jared Green, WR, Southern | Articles
We gotta get him. Aleast bring him on board and see what we can do with him for his fathers sake. Hell he runs a 4.3/40. I also loved what his HC Stump Mitchell had to say about him...
“I wish I could have had someone with that type of speed for all four years," Stump said. "We could have had something special.”

“You have to get the ball up in the air quickly, because he is so fast," Mitchell said. "We missed some opportunities this year because of his quickness. They won’t have that problem with him at the next level.”
This from D.Green....
“There is no human in the world that played CB longer than me." Darrell Green said. "I am the only human living that played 20 years at cornerback, when I judge him, I judge him fairly, and critical, he should have an excellent career. He is not perfect, but he is equally to most of the receivers I played against in the 20 years."
|

He wasn't that highly recruited coming out of high school because his offense his school ran was the power option. He definitely has talent. When I interviewed him he had an AJ Green like catch over a defender catching the ball behind the defenders back. His knock/weakness is two things; - He is frail, probably 165lbs the last time I saw him when he was at UVA. - He has Hankerson hands. Meaning he'll make an amazing catch one play where it's like 'how did he catch that' to the next play where he's wide open and the ball hits him in the hands and he just drops it. He definitely has potential with some great NFL bloodlines, that will train him well. I wouldn't get him for more than a 7th rounder though. |
