Raheem Morris to the Redskins
Tweeted by Adam Schefter. Good hire he's good with DB's.
@AdamSchefter:As @NFLSTROUD reported, former Buccaneers HC Raheem Morris has agreed to join the Redskins coaching staff. Will work with DBs. |
Re: Raheem Morris to the Redskins
Haslett better do well next year, cause his replacement as DC has been hired. I love this move, it keeps the heat on Haslett.
|
Great move IMO he's young and knows the game, some guys are just better as coordinator s and he's one of them
|
Re: Raheem Morris to the Redskins
Great hire, young and knowledgeable possible future DC
|
Re: Raheem Morris to the Redskins
Seems like a great move. I was thinking if that was to happen Morris would be able to slide right into DC. But, does Morris have experience running the 3-4 is this was to happen? Would that even matter because Shanahan is near the end of his contract?

Re: Raheem Morris to the Redskins
I like it this. I've always liked Morris. God knows the DBs need all the coaching they can get. Feels like we didn't have many INTs this year. (Maybe we did)
|
Mike has three years left

Re: Raheem Morris to the Redskins
Skins are looking to draft for the secondary...
|
Re: Raheem Morris to the Redskins
Nice pick up.
|
Re: Raheem Morris to the Redskins
Super fan of this. I liked the job he did in TB...not sure what happened this past year but he is a young guy who players like and has some good leadership skills. Really good pickup. Wonder what this means for Jackson??

Like it, Like It, Like It......Great move for a unit...in need. |
Re: Raheem Morris to the Redskins
Nice pick up , R. Morris looks like a great fit , and could have been a DC for some team .

I see that now.. Wonder why KM was canned? |
Re: Raheem Morris to the Redskins
Now he needs some talent to coach.

well, our receivers havent been very good over the last few years for the most part. |
Re: Raheem Morris to the Redskins
Big fan of this. A 30-something coach who won 10 games as a HC just one year ago season comes in to coach the secondary? That's called a win.

Can't polish a turd. Or turds in this case. |
Re: Raheem Morris to the Redskins
Don't know what to think about this. Morris did a really crappy job of coaching his team last season. He's also totally overqualified to be a DB's coach at this point in his career.
Our current DBs don't really lend themselves to coaching, necessarily. Barnes and Westbrook are going to be in contract years. Everyone else is a veteran. I guess the validity of this move depends on who the Redskins bring in at defensive back. I'd keep an eye on Tanard Jackson. Allen drafted him and Morris has coached him every year he's been in the league. |

I would tend to think its the opposite, that the Skns want to try and get more out of what they have. |
Re: Raheem Morris to the Redskins
I'm happy for this signing. Morris is really gonna help make our secondary better. He did well in his first season as a HC with his team getting 19 picks, 19 the year before, and 22 the year before that. They also had the top passing defense in 2007 once he came back as a DB Coach. We will definitely have more picks this coming year, especially if we bring in a couple of corners and have a consistently healthy LL and OA.

Re: Raheem Morris to the Redskins
Speaking of coaches, anyone else worried about Matt LaFleur? I mean, is he the one to groom a young QB if we draft one?

I am. I'm not a fan of his. I don't see any reason to keep him... |

He did help Kyle with Schaub in Houston. But even still, we should let him go only if we can get someone out there that can DEFINITELY get the job done WHEN we get a young qb. |

Yeah I would add Schaub as a plus and Beck as a negative to his resume. Rex? Hard to say, he might of gotten the best out of Rex. |

I really want the GB quarterback coach on our coaching staff... BADLY |

And possibly his qb (Flynn). |
Re: Raheem Morris to the Redskins
Yeah, I'd love Flynn with either his GB QB coach, offensive coordinator, or players lol

Morris has never even been a DC, nor has he been a coach for a 3-4. I don't think Haslett has anything to worry about. I like Morris but it's not like he's going to turn D.Hall into Darrell Green. |

So they let go of KM? Why? How about they get rid of the guy calling the plays? How about we get rid of the guy that thinks Grossman and Beck at legit NFL QB's. Oh wait. That can't happen cause Mike would never fire his son, nor would he fire himself. Guess he needed a scapegoat. lol. |

If the B&G do draft for the secondary, I hope they trade back, way back and pick up some major draft steals as well! Great hire of Morris! |

I'd love for us to bring in Ray Sherman if he's available but I don't think he is. |

man you are really angling for the Grumpy Gergory award. You don't seem to like ANYTHING that this regime does. You don't have to be blindly optimistic but damn dude, it gets tiresome seeing nothing but relentless negativity. |

For the record, the Tampa Bay Bucs lost their last 10 games this year under Morris' stewardship. Four losses this year were by 28 points or more. Bucs gave up 494 points this year - - most in the NFL. The next worst scoring defense gave up 45 points less than the Bucs did. Many observers believed that the team quit sometime around early December. |
