Not gonna speculate as to why she died, but I will say I'm not entirely suprised.

R.I.P. Whitney Houston.

RIP. Passing of a legend.

Re: Whitney Houston Dead at 48

I was reading a gossip website she was out on the town, if not last night then the night before last, I believe. But she looked a hot mess. I dunno if she was high or drunk but she wasn't totally there.

Sad to say, I really think Bobby Brown helped destroy a legend back in the day. She never fully recovered from that. Crack ain't no joke.

All speculation aside though, RIP. I'm gonna download a bunch of her music tonight.

So Ray J is the one who found her dead?

Thought I'd heard it was Whitney that messed Bobby up.

Either way she's one of my all time favorite singers

Whitney had been on drugs for quite some time now. Sad she let drugs destroy her. :(

Just heard on CNN that Ray J is denying that he found her.

Just rechecked my gossip rag and she was at a pre-grammy party last night and was photoed with scratches on her arm and blood on her legs... Dunno what that was all about.

And I'm not sure about the crack thing, but they really ruined each other.

Yeah.... Yet another supreme talent wasted by drugs. Shame.

Drugs probably killed her unfortunately. Even if she didn't OD / were on them, I'm sure they had a significant role leading up to this point. Very sad, she was one of my favorite singers.

Damn shame for yet another remarkable talent to have their life cascade out of control and unfortunately end with such a sad headline. Hope she's finally at peace after 10-15 years of watching her become a shadow of her former self.

I just saw the video of her doing the Star Spangled Banner at the Giants-Bills SB. You can easily see why it's known as the best rendition of the National Anthem of all time lol. Crazy good, that's how it should be.

CRedskinsRule 02-12-2012 04:31 AM

Wow, she was an amazing singer, very sad news.

We had on the Charlie Brown special and they broke into the movie and did a count down warning parents that they may want to have the children leave the room. I thought that maybe we were under attack or someone was murdered. Not sure if her death is breaking news.

That's probably a bit much, but it was certainly big news. And sad news. Such a waste.

I was 12 when she sang that unbelievable national anthem, and I remember it so well.

I had already heard rumors of suicide. God, I hope not. She must've had some serious, serious demons that no one knew about if that's the case. This whole situation is such a mess. I feel absolutely horrible for her family and closest friends.

I'm not one bit surprised. Bobby Brown ruined Whitney Houston. I used to think of Houston as one of those music stars that had a squeaky clean image. When I found out she was on drugs, I had this uneasy feeling she'd never be the same Whitney Houston again - and I was right.

I'm sure it's the thought that Bobby is the one that got her using drugs. I think people were worried even when she started seeing him back in the 90's because he was the "bad boy" and she was the good wholesome girl.

I doubt you walk away that easily (if ever) from over a decade of abusing drugs. It's really sad to see. One of my co-workers lost it all because of his addiction to alcohol. Had a 80K state job, a beautiful wife making 120k, 3 kids, nice home......blew it all. Couldn't stop drinking and still can't stop, even after losing his job, his wife, pretty much his kids, his truck and license, and soon to be his health (just had a aneurysm). It's a sad story to say the least, but I suppose it's easier to say when those demons aren't inside us.

Re: Whitney Houston Dead at 48

Definitely a sad loss ive always liked her a lot.

The other day the topic of was Whitney the best American pop female singer over the last generation or so (20 -30 years)? I think so. I think there are few you put up there with her like Mariah and Celine.

But I like Mariah a lot better. I dont know really how to describe it, but listening to Whitney can be tiring after a while. Mariah, to me, is a lot easier and "interesting" or "fun" to listen to. But when i compare them i think Whitney has much more range and ability. Whitney is definitely more pure and thats what makes her so great. Besides Whitney's deep emotional drop she occasionally adds she doesnt really put any twists on songs she just sings them the way they were meant to be sung, and does it amazingly. Mariah obviously has range close to Whitney's, but shes more interesting or has a sweeter voice to me.

So Whitney to me is better because she does things perfectly and amazingly and the way her songs are meant to be sung, but i like Mariah better because, just because....
