Yet Another QB Rumors Thread (Volume 9)
We have a lot of different threads going on about our QB situation so I thought let's just start fresh.
Went ahead and locked a bunch of other QB threads just so we have a fresh place to discuss the latest QB rumors (until this thread gets too unwieldy as well) Redskins Reportedly Hold Informal Talks With the Rams About 2nd Overall Pick - Hogs Haven You've all seen this already. Here are a few more notes -Dolphins and Rams and Dolphins and Browns reportedly spoke last night as well -Seahawks are very interested in a certain QB at #12....Osweiller -Redskins are not expected to attend David Garrard's workout for NFL teams on April 1 -More potentially major news coming soon...time to put those Orakpo jerseys back in the closet? |

Good news with the Seahawks and Osweiler. Can you speak more on the major news? Orakpo? Thats gotta have to do with the Rams...or Indy possibly? Any clues? |
Re: Yet Another QB Rumors Thread (Volume 9)
If Orakpo is traded, I wonder if will we make a run at Mario Williams or Stephen Tulloch

I really wouldnt be opposed to letting Rob Jackson get a serious shot at starter, he has played well when giving the opportunity. Let him and Markus White fight it out for Starter and Back up. We saw what happened when Perry Riley got an opportunity. |

@PCinOz @LL56_HTTR @TKextremeskins lets all keep in mind this is only handshake deals at this point
According to one of the usual insiders, seems they have a "handshake" deal in place. Another one is wanting to confirm it before he really puts it out there.
LL @LL56_HTTR make no mistake I wound LOVE to put it out there right now but I don't want to cause a stir for nothing. Will come out if accurrate and ready
Some people around here might be happy. |

Re: Yet Another QB Rumors Thread (Volume 9)
I'm looking forward to Volume 48 of QB Rumors (Draft Day) thread.
But for now this'll do. Nice crunchy nugget there at the bottom SS, hopefully it's something that'll work out in our favor. Handshake deals are a far cry from faxing the paperwork to the league office though. |

If that means Davis or Williams plus Orakpo and the 6th pick. Im not sure if we should have any added picks as well. |

Spot on, I hope its Davis and not Williams. Orakpo, Davis and # 6 is enough IMO, we are talking 4 spots here. |
Re: Yet Another QB Rumors Thread (Volume 9)
Lets get that 2nd pick! I will drive Orakpo or anyone else to the airport...

Re: Yet Another QB Rumors Thread (Volume 9)
Ugh I got my orakpo jersey last year, knew I should have waited for Kerrigan

Re: Yet Another QB Rumors Thread (Volume 9)
NC Skins,
Since I didn't get to answer your question:
Don't quit your day job because you suck at mock drafting. 1) How would the Rams end up at #5 if they traded with the Browns at #4? 2) Kalil not in the top 4?....lol 3) Weeden at #6? Are you friends with Fred Davis and Trent Williams by chance? Smoke buddies perhaps?
1- for some reason I had a brain fart and thought the draft order was Colts, Rams, Vikes, Bucks, Browns, Skins. Thats how I got the Browns at #5. But I stand by who I think will get who Colts-Luck- set in stone Browns-RGIII- Browns are infatuated and want him Vikes-Blackmon-Ponder needs help Rams-Kalil-Bradford needs protection Bucks-Claiborne-need secondary help Skins-Weeden I'm betting the Browns do whater it takes to get RGIII. Vikes need to give Ponder some offensive help. Rams need Kalil... didn't their LT retire? Bucks need Claiborne cause they will need to replace Rhonde Barber who supposedly retired or might come to the Skins. #3- Weeden at #6? I'm not a fan of this either. I would prefer they trade back and get more picks and take Weeden late first early second round. So again why at #6 because I keep hearing that Miami is interested in Weeden also. Miami picks 2 spots after us and I could see them taking him if they really want him as a back up to replace Henne. I have also heard how last year MS was interested in one of the QB's and figured that our spot was too high to draft him so we traded out and figured to pick him up late first or second round where he was slated to go and someone else took him. Rumor is MS was not happy about missing out. Couple that with the rumor that Miami might be interested in Weeden, then I could see MS thinking screw it I'll take him so we don't lose him. Keep in mind I'm still assuming the team is going out for a FA QB. I hope Flynn, but Manning if proven healthy and let go. |
Re: Yet Another QB Rumors Thread (Volume 9)
I made a Manning uniform swap and a redskins wallpaper on my picturepush account if anyone is interested. I can't show it here because I don't have enough posts.

I wouldn't add picks but thats what it will take. I'm presuming it's the jump to get to #2 and trade with the Rams. In order to have a better offer then the Browns we'll probably need to trade our first with them, possibly a 2nd this yr, a 1st next year and either a player or another pick next year. Putting Orakpo in the mix sweetens the pot cause I'm sure GW would love to have him in his 4-3 for which Orakpo was brought here for and he fits that system better then our 3-4 anyway. Not that he was bad our system. |

I'm so sick of jersey's. If the NFL is going to make it so easy for players to switch, move or be traded then they need to come down on the jersey prices. No one will want to spend $150-$250 every two to three yrs. We would be better served just getting a jersey with a retired players name on it, or just put your own name on it. lol. |
All speculations guys, I honestly would hate to lose rak but guess we'll see
|
Re: Yet Another QB Rumors Thread (Volume 9)
I forgot about GW in STL... Sign & add Landry to the deal. GW Loved Laron.

Cooley? If it was D.Hall I wouldn't mind. Can't really think of anybody else though. Unless *gasp* it's Helu or Hankerson. |

I don't buy Jerseys anymore either and I learned that lesson with champ, $250 and he was traded the next year
|

That's actually really great news. Wow either the Incredible Hulk or.....D Hall I suspect..? Lot easier loss than Davis or Williams. |

That's why I only buy the throwbacks now, players move to often. I have a theisman and Taylor now. But been through champ, rod Gardner, Jason campbell, and the list goes on. |

Throwbacks are definitely the way to go now. buying current player jerseys is a waste of money. It's tough for the younger fans though since they have no attachment to the old players so they want a current player. Sorry to those who own one but I have my fingers crossed that those Orakpo jerseys will become a waste of money real soon... |
Re: Yet Another QB Rumors Thread (Volume 9)
What is the timeframe for a trade to happen? Just on draft day? If so, I think the chance of any trade happening is zero. If we're gonna trade up to get rg3, we need to do it ASAP so we know what we need to focus on in free agency ( ie if we're trading orakpo, we need to find a replacement in free agency)

Unless *gasp* it's Helu or Hankerson.
I'll get killed for mentioning it but .... here goes... Fletcher? he was GW's boy and why he was brought to the Skins to help the rest of the defense learn the system. Trade Orakpo and Fletcher and trade #1's this year and what other picks to move up? |

Re: Yet Another QB Rumors Thread (Volume 9)
I can see Orakpo too trade picks but I can't see Orakpo plus another high level player or even some high picks to trade up to #2.

Agree, if we give them lots of players we have to keep most of our draft picks. |
Re: Yet Another QB Rumors Thread (Volume 9)
All I'll say is that if the Redskins end up trading up to no. 2 in the next two and a half weeks (instead of on draft day when they probably don't have to go up to 2), the ultimate target isn't going to be Griffin.
It's Luck. |
Fletcher? How do you propose we trade someone who isn't under contract?
Seems tagging is the popular choice. lol. JK, I forgot he was a FA folks chill. I don't know maybe they ask us to get a contract done with Fletcher so he can be packaged with Orakpo and picks to them for us moving up to #2? It helps us, they get the two players they want, everyone is happy. Except me of course. |
Re: Yet Another QB Rumors Thread (Volume 9)
This angle hasnt been played yet, the browns have more ammo as far as draft picks, but we do have a few young players that have some value. It all depends on who we give up Orakpo would hurt a little but he was also drafted by the old regime.

I just don't see that happening but I'm sure the Rams would love it. |
Re: Yet Another QB Rumors Thread (Volume 9)
Like I said in the other thread I have a feeling rg3 goes 1
Well, since the Colts can pretty much name their price to swap Griffin and Luck, I'd have to imagine they would.
The trade up from 6 to 2 would be cheap by comparision. |

No doubt they need a QB but it would be difficult to turn away the ton of picks you could pick up by trading the #1 and #2 pick. Especially if Peyton is healthy......... |
