Re: London Fletcher re-signs with Redskins
Critical signing, since an abnormally high percentage of Fletcher's responsibility in this upcoming season is going to come in the offseason, where we know he's healthy and ready to run the defense around him.
As for actual on field performance, I think his best days as a Redskin are probably behind him. But the Redskins never got a Plan B in the fold, and so even a hobbled 37-year old Fletcher saves us from the alternative and probably prevents Perry Riley from being exposed as a coverage liability a bit longer. |
Re: London Fletcher re-signs with Redskins
I think that London Fletcher is a freak, an absolute ageless freak, and he will play for the skins for 5 more years at least. I also believe that he will have the most tackles of his career this year, as well as career highs in forced fumbles and interceptions and sacks, leading the skins to a top 3 defense and the playoffs. There, he will single handedly carry the franchise on his back to the SuperBowl, and win it on a safety, the only score of the game, and we beat the New England Patriots 2-0.
Champs. |
Re: London Fletcher re-signs with Redskins
Glads he's back. Hope we didn't over pay.

It's a 2 year deal..no idea the $ though |
Re: London Fletcher re-signs with Redskins
Now that Fletcher and Jackson signed, I can see the redskins going this way in the draft:
RT LB CB S RB QB WR It could be in order of talent available at the time |
I'm very happy with this move. He may have slowed a step or two but as of now we don't have his replacement on the roster. I hope he finishes his career here the same way it started.
As far as the draft goes, I think we go BPA in rounds 3-7. Maybe we intentionally go for a need with the 3rd rounder but everything after that is a crapshoot so they will probably just pick guys who they think will be good, regardless of need. And if one of those guys is a MLB I won't mind. |
Re: London Fletcher re-signs with Redskins
WOW...what a RELIEF!!!....
Now we can focus on our assumed starter needs, such as Safety, RT, G, Nickle I'm sure they will focus on the most likely to start players in Round 3, which will probably be in these roles... Don't blame the Skins for not having his backup yet, they tried...and only Riley panned out...and that aint bad...we just have 2 ILBs now instead of 1 due to the new 3-4 It takes a few years to effectively convert both the lines and the LB's...honestly, in 2 years, they've done a heck of a job...I thought they were nuts yr one since almost none of the LB's and line in the 4-3 were a fit for the 3-4...thankfully Fletcher slid in well....he was basically the only one that did....as a testament to his awesomeness! |

Re: London Fletcher re-signs with Redskins
Great man, great player, great news.
Happy to have London back. He may not be quite the same player he was when he signed here, but he's a still a high-level LB, and his locker room presence and intangibles are so important to this team. |

[/U][/B] -Led NFL in tackles last year -164 consecutive starts -No significant injuries that I know about What exactly does "hobbled" mean to you?? Perhaps you mean, "humbled". Feel bad that he had to be humbled by lack of interest before he came back to us. But we welcome him with open arms. He's going to decline for sure, but still better than most LBs out there. (Also, he's technically still 36 years old). |
Re: London Fletcher re-signs with Redskins
I heard it was a two year deal, does anyone kno how much?

That is the most ridiculous thing to say with no sustenance to back it up. There is no logic or valid reason to say that, other than he is 37, which is past most players playing days. But his numbers and starts say the complete opposite. |

And outside of drafting a 1st round talent w/ Ray/Urlacher/Fletcher type of potential, any thoughts of replacing him at this point are pretty absurd. You don't replace a tackling machine (the best in the business, literally) who is the undisputed QB/leader of the defense because he's a year older. The defense would fall to pieces w/o London, so the real story is how badly we'll miss him in 2014 unless ILB is priority #1 starting now. |
Re: London Fletcher re-signs with Redskins
I think people completely missed the point on that Fletcher post, but whatever.

Most of your posts are negative. I think most people here just don't care to examining them that closely, especially when you describe him as "hobbled". We're all happy London has re-signed here. 'Nuff said. |

If you're tired of reading my posts, don't comment on them. Look, there's a number of posters on here I don't bother to respond to. There's only so many ways you can put "I disagree" in a post. If I'm not interested, I just skip over when I see the username. If calling something a "critical signing" comes off as overly negative to someone, then I don't have the time for them. |
Re: London Fletcher re-signs with Redskins
Being honest, I have noticed many of your post seem jaded and disillusioned with a lot of what the skins have done this offseason. I never noticed this in the past and, I've actually wondered what's prompted it. I'm generally lean towards the negative with the skins, but this season after the trade for the second overall pick, I've turned more optimistic. So have the majority of fans. So Tripp, what's up? Do you think we're all being foolish to get so excited about the franchises direction?

Re: London Fletcher re-signs with Redskins
3 Years $26 Million $14 million Guranteed.
|
Re: London Fletcher re-signs with Redskins
It looks like London Fletcher got the sort of deal he was looking for. If the Redskins and Fletcher were unable to come to an agreement, then sending a a draft pick to the Jets for Bart Scott would not have been a bad move to make. But fortunately it didn't come down to that. Fletcher has signed and the Redskins and Mike Shanahan accomplished one of the many things that was a goal in the offseason.

Re: London Fletcher re-signs with Redskins
i hope $12mill is in the 3rd year that we never have to pay. that seems like a lot for a 37 year old.

Forget Fletcher's age. I'm glad he got the kind of deal that he was hoping for. The fact of the matter is I would rather have Fletcher than any of the rookie linebackers entering the draft in 12 days. Fletcher, despite being 36 years old, has not slowed down at all. No one who has watched every game for the past five seasons can say Fletcher is any different than he was when he was a rookie linebacker for the Rams. The guy is pure gold to the Redskin defense. |

Really? I heard it was 2 years 20 mil 15 mil guaranteed. Where'd you get those numbers from? |
Re: London Fletcher re-signs with Redskins
Glad they signed Fletch but if that moneys correct then I think they overpaid.I dont see any other team in the league handing out that kind of money to a linebacker that old.3-5 million a yr seems more like it.
As far as Gtripp's post,Ive never viewed them as negative, just realistic. While Fletcher has started every game,he was hurt last yr but he still made it on the field, maybe thats what Gtripp is refering to when he says hobbled.Aga catches up to you quick and its not as easy to heal from those injuries. |
