Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
Welp, he is probably as good as gone. Who becomes our new kick returner??

Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
Josh LeRibous

Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
LOL Shanny might as well have said "Son, you're gonna need to grow another six inches."
Banks had terrible hands anyway, too big a risk as PR/KR or WR. |
Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
If Terrance Austin is still on the team he becomes the new KR/PR. If not him i could see someone like Bernsteine
|
Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
Translation: Redskins cut Banks
|
Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
did anyone here believe that banks was going to make the team this year?

In my books, I have Banks and Austin as for sure goners. As far as KR, that's going to be a nice little challenge. I personally would love to see Robinson back there, but we have a fair amount of speed demons now. |
Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
Banks apparently put on a lot of muscle this off-season, which may help him take the pounding at WR. But who knows how it may have impacted his speed. Either way, he's on a very short leash

Yeah, I'd put my money on gone. I just don't see him making the transition to WR. I hope he catches on with another non-NFC East team, he's definitely exciting in the return game. |

Bingo.....The best WR between Austin and Robinson will make the team as the 6th receiver and returner. |

So your saying he pasted the Eyeball Test? Banks was ranked like 56th in KR last year and was in the middle of the pack against players that had 25 or more KR. Its a great story but if that all he has then he need to let him go. |

Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
I would be shocked if Banks is on the opening day roster. Terrence Austin, Aldrick Robinson, Josh Wilson, Barnes, Brandon Thompson can all return kicks...I know I'm forgetting someone else....

Moss. But I don't think they wanna take the chance on him getting blown up on KRs. |
Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
well so long BB
|
Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
Whaaaaat ? So no more Brandon Banks interviews when he lifts and drops his shoulders about 548 times ?

Chase Minnifield and D.Hall. |
Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
seriously, did anyone expect banks on the 2012 roster? can we add a poll?
|
Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
I doubt he'll make it but what have the other young wr's shown? I'll say this about Banks. He's still one of the most explosive players we have. If you put RG3, Banks and Garcon on the field that's a ton of speed. But he's been here two years and shown nothing as a wr.

Terrence Austin has been here 4 and hasnt shown anything either, at least Banks has some explosive plays on his resume. |

If we had a special teams coach that could teach our guys not to block in the back, I think Banks returning would be a given.

never looked at Banks as really a WR anyways. He's a KR/PR |

I didnt expect him on last years roster |
I know I didn't. I love the excitement Banks brings and the chance to break one but he wasn't quite Devin Hester. I realize that it's not all on him but we can't afford the roster spot anymore. Signing Garçon, and Morgan sealed his fate honestly because we had more talent at WR. Sorry Lil Guy.

Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
No more room for a one trick pony. I highly doubt BB makes the team this year.
|
Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
i question whether he's even worth one of our 90 camp roster spots. actually, i dont question it. he's not worth it. i'd rather have a third kicker in camp than banks.

I thought Austin has only been here two? Not that it makes much of a difference, I thought Austin's production would go up last season once he got an opportunity but he didn't do anything all year. If we cut him I wouldn't be too upset. |
Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
Austin has looked good in the preseason in the past, but he obviously needs to step it up when the regular season rolls around.
|
Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
How many WR will we carry? 6? 7?
|
How many WR will we carry? 6? 7?
Rumor has been 6 As for Austin, I have heard some speculation out of Redskins Park the last few months that a big, big reason the Redskins let Keenan McCardell go was that they felt he did a poor job developing Austin. |
Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
Moss
Hank Garcon Morgan Austin ??? (Niles Paul?) |
Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
Chase Minnifield and D.Hall.
I was also going to throw those names out there. D hall is mOre than capable of returning punts but I doubt he does kickoffs. I remember reading an article about minniefield returnin kicks for a few years at UVA. The more I read about him the more I like what he brings to the table. I hope he turns into a solid corner, we need all the help back there we can get. |
Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
Moss
Hank Garcon Morgan Austin ??? (Niles Paul?)
Paul is TE now... I'd go with Moss Hankerson Garcon Morgan Armstrong Austin or Robinson |
Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
we need to keep him .
|
Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
Was hoping Austin would be further along by now... wouldnt be surprised if the McCardell thing was true. Also wouldnt be surprised if in his limited action whoever was qbing didnt really look his way.
we need to keep him .
Why? Sorry, I just have never been a Banks enthusiast - for all the reasons others have already stated. I am sure he's a great kid and, yes, he has some speed. As Matty indicated, however, he's a one-trick pony even in the return game. He's never struck me as "elusive" - if there's no seam, there's no return. As much as people want him to be, he's just not that special. I think the sixth spot will be a pretty open competition between Austin & Robinson. If it's close, they may give it Austin and stash Robinson on the PS for another year. |
Re: Shanahan Tells Banks He Better Learn to Play WR
This was a pretty good article on Banks' role with the team: http://www.sportsmedia101.com/washingtonredskins/2012/06/13/brandon-banks-will-have-to-contribute-on-offense-if-he-wants-to-make-2012-roster/
I think he needed to be called out by Shanahan because his performance simply isn't cutting it. Honestly it's just plain disappointing to see his inability to consistently play up to his obvious potential. I'm not sure what it's going to take to get him playing the way he should be... |

I just wish Danny Smith would teach the guys how to block on extra points and field goals |
