Republican National Convention 2012
Since the free for all thread is a cluster F of different debates and topics, lets keep strictly to the RNC speakers/events here.
I'll throw one of these up for the DNC when that rolls around as well. |
Re: Republican National Convention 2012
REPUBLICANS! F**k YEAH!
Best joke I've heard so far though about the RNC is that with Hurricane Issac the Republicans only have to pretend to like Romney for 3 days instead of 4. |

[YT]cGsLhyNJBh8[/YT] This says it a little better. I read an article today about the Tea Party which stated that what started out as a movement about reducing government spending and involvement in our lives turned into a chance for the radical Christian Right to come in and tack on issues like outlawing abortion and gay marriage and in turn redefine the tea party all without being labeled as the Radical Christian Right. It's basically the same premise as a shady business man that has screwed customers starting another business under a new name then shortly thereafter resorting to the same business practices that got them their shady reputation. While it's obvious that the show is bias towards liberal views I do agree with the scenes conclusion which is basically the Tea Party gave the Radical Christian Right, which has slowly continued to become less and less relevant in American politics, a chance to get back into the fray by using the tea party movement as a stepping stone. I am pleased though that more and more moderates and liberterians are finding their way into the Republican base. Hopefully in the near future it will allow the party to wane off the radical Christian Right completely and get back to focusing on big issues like the economy and foreign policy. And to think the Republican party use to be the party that was all about Civil Rights. Keep in mind I have no problem or quarrel with Christianity. Rather I have a problem with people who turn and twist the Bible to blur the lines between separation of Church and State as well as justify bigotry and sexism. |

To me...a fiscal conservative, they are the worst thing in American politics. They give conservatism a bad name. |

Well this should be an interesting night. I'm hoping for some gaffes but that probably won't happen.

Read they are turning away Ron Paul busses from the convention and Ron Paul supporters got into it with Romney supporters.

Aren't they suppose to be the ones to reduce spending? I know Paul Ryan is one of the few members of the GOP with enough guts to even talk about auditing the pentagon and limiting military spending but it looks like every one else is itching to go to war with Iran. Do they not remember Iraq where they tortured people to get them to say the information they wanted to hear and ended up spending a trillion dollars to essentially kill one evil dictator that did not have any nuclear weapons due to unreliable information that was gathered by torture. 4 years later begging for a second chance and I just can't help but shake the feeling that they're going to repeat the same stupid mistakes. At this rate I'm starting to wonder if we're better off electing Obama. At least then gay marriage will have a shot and Roe vs Wade won't be overturned by the GOP "activist judges." |

if anyone wants to go into iran, i hope that also want to be drafted and mortgage their house to foot the costs.

Nah, these guys aren't racists. Once the Republicans lose that vote, they'll be forced to contend with the RP supporters. |

Also, Iraq was based on intel from Clinton hold-over George Tenat and had massive bi-partisan support. If ObamaCare survived the SCOTUS, no way Roe v. Wade comes anywhere close to being overturned. |

Nah, these guys aren't racists.[/quote]We've seen these accusations before, they're not always true. Also note: "The identity of the attendee was not immediately known, and it was not clear whether the person was a delegate or just someone with a ticket to the convention center." “CNN can confirm there was an incident directed at an employee inside the Tampa Bay Times Forum earlier this afternoon,” the network said in a statement. “CNN worked with convention officials to address this matter and will have no further comment.” Don't know if this was a setup by someone trying to make the GOP look bad. However, this was a single person and he was ejected and dealt with. And if it was an actual GOP person, let's not damn the entire GOP because of one out of 20K...even if the guy is a complete PoS moron. |

Re: Republican National Convention 2012
Watching John McCains speech now and reminded why I was uneasy about the prospect of him winning the presidency. Much easier to reduce spending on a couple of programs then it is to get out of a war and McCain is a war time president that in spite of our financial crisis wants to keep fighting the world. Romney makes me uneasy to in that respect but he's still a business man at heart and usually war is bad for business. McCain on the other hand was and is a solider and I can now say for certain that Obama was the lesser of two evils in the the 2008 campaign.

Re: Republican National Convention 2012
What a shit show it end up being. I actually thought Romney gave a good speech, not great. But the Eastwood call was a bad bad decision.
|
Re: Republican National Convention 2012
I only saw a very small part of the speech had friends over for a few cold drinks and playing bag toss (cornhole and drinking just does not sound right). Why was Clint E talking to an empty chair. Looked stupid. Heard they could not get him off the stage and he went way over his alotted time.

He did have a couple great lines between the uhhhs, aahhhhs, and "I can't do that to myselfs": “We own this country . . . We’re the best and we should not ever forget that,”. and “When someone isn’t doing the job, we’ve got to let [him] go.” |

I guess, Rubio, Jindal, Halley, Susana Martinez, Condi, Lynn Swann, JC Watts, Alan West, and so many others won't change your opinon.
