Positives - What Positives You Ask?
Negative Nellies not needed.
Debbie Downers don't discuss. This is the positives thread. Yes believe it or not, statistics, and just watching the game there are actual positives that we can talk about. After 3 games: The Skins lead the league in scoring. Red Zone scoring, we are at 66.67% (tied for 5th) RGIII has the longest deep ball score. We are #6 in total offense yards RGIII has thrown only one INT, has a passer rating over 100 (103.5 or 6th best) Luck's for comparison sake is 75.4 We have the 2nd most rushing yards We are 5/6 for FG's, missing only the 62 yarder. The completion percentage against our defense is tied for 11th best with Pittsburgh at 60.9% ( we are way out of skew on yds allowed, so if we can tighten the ydge, the actual coverage is not as bad as the yardage implies) Our rushing D is 9th best in the league That's the positives from a stats point of view. But there also are some intangibles that need to be mentioned, not the least is RGIII and what he brings in terms of game awareness. While he hasn't led a comeback win yet, as JR mentioned elsewhere, I don't doubt that every single person wasn't holding his/her breath to see if we could march down the field and tie the game with <2 minutes left. I am pretty firmly convinced that once the game flow gets back to normal (refs I'm looking at you), we won't see the last second loss of composure that showed up in the last 2 games, although I hope someone asks Davis where he was going on the play that got the initial False Start. Also in the intangibles, for as many yards as our D has given up, they have also had some critical 3 and outs that put the Offense in the position to tie or take the lead, not everyone was followed by offensive execution but, there are areas to build on. So, Again Negative Nellies not needed Debbie Downers don't discuss. People with Positive Posts, please reply. |

Re: Positives - What Positives You Ask?
I can't remember the feeling of having such a trustworthy offense. What a feeling. Everytime the offense gets the ball, you can reasonably hope for a score. Gone are the days of scoring 12 or 15 points a game, and that's such a wonderful feeling.

Re: Positives - What Positives You Ask?
And the Skins have lost by a combined total of 11 points to solid NFL powerhouses the Rams and Bengals.
|
Re: Positives - What Positives You Ask?
Talking about the defense, rushing defense has been outstanding at ranked 9th in the league 276 given up, 92 ypg. If you take out the big play run from the St Louis game, we give an average of 3.5 ypc.
I think thats a positive, and a little bit of a surprise. Another positive is the depth issue after this past game, Jackson and Wilson were more than adequate filling in for Rak and Jarvis held up ok in AC absence. |

Offense is looking way better with Griffin in it, obviously. I read an article on nfl.com about Davis' interview, he said that the offense is not even complete and yet we still are in top 10. Absolutely looking forward to the future. Now the trade we made with Rams is starting to look like a brilliant move. I have to admit, I was really worried about Jackson and Wilson taking over Orakpo but now I'm not. Jackson stepped up yesterday, granted it was just one game. |
Re: Positives - What Positives You Ask?
We only fumbled the option once.

you know what would be positive? freezer dolls |
Re: Positives - What Positives You Ask?
We have a long way to go this season. As things progress, the offense should get even better. RGIII will improve. The team will be more on the same page with each other and the scheme. One positive is that our offense should be better on Thanksgiving than it is now.
A positive for the defense might (that is, might) be that we get better safety play once Meriweather has healed and returned. I'm not going to panic in week 3. Ask me again in week 11. |

Re: Positives - What Positives You Ask?
Right now, I feel like the Packers... just trying to outscore everyone.
It's exciting if anything! RGIII is the real deal and with an offseason of FA (maybe get that money back?) then I think we'll be sitting pretty. |
Re: Positives - What Positives You Ask?
I hope this comes across as a positive cus i mean it to be.
We are one bad penalty and a puss call on fourth and inches from probably being 3-0 |

We are one bad penalty and a puss call on fourth and inches from probably being 3-0
Another way to phrase it, we are in every game. Some will go our way, and some won't. I still expect a 7-9 win season. I never thought Cincy was a lockgame and St. Louis too(because of our history with them). But we will win a few division games, might even sweep Dallas if they continue looking like they do (although they seemingly have solved some of their D woes). And we certainly can match Philly in a shootout if we have to go that way. And I expect a win at Tampa. Now if we lose Tampa well, that would not lead to a Positiive Post Thread. Ultimately, there are 13 games left, and so far we have assured that we will neither have a perfect winning season, or a perfect losing season, other than that the future will be what they make of it. |
Re: Positives - What Positives You Ask?
Cowboys and Eagles have the lowest scoring offenses in the NFL...and our D gets 4 games against them
We're one game out of the playoffs |
Re: Positives - What Positives You Ask?
you want positive? there is no limit to what griff can do for this offense!
he's 3 games down, hundreds to go. also, 2 spots have opened up on defense for players to step up and be the next ryan clark or antonio pierce types (not the leaving via free agency part). jenkins is a mountain of a man, he'll only improve w more playing time (and probably still getting healthy from the acl injury last year). jackson stepped right into the lineup and made a hell of a play, pick 6 for 0 yards a la jack squirek (give or take 4 yards). keep in mind the cap penalty, we're on the come up! HTTR! |
Re: Positives - What Positives You Ask?
Are you kidding me with this thread? Stats are for LOSERS! But since you want a positive it's Ryan Kerrigan. Love the way the guys plays.

:) thats funny - oh and i fully expected to beat st.louis and cincy - blinded by my love i guess |

Not so sure about that. |
Another way to phrase it, we are in every game. yet.
but both sides of the ball have kept us in these games, losing close ones w a rookie qb... not the end of the world. |

have we got a Trent Williams update
|
Re: Positives - What Positives You Ask?
I missed the game since I was busy being the ONLY lineman who actually blocks for my team, but RGIII is definitely a positive for you guys.
How is the 'Skins pass rush this year? DeMarcus Ware got to Freeman twice last week when they distracted me with the other 10 guys. |

Bruise, he's fine. Probably back on Sunday (and maybe Meriweather too) There's other maybe not so great injury news...but that's not for the Positives thread |

We're one game out of the playoffs
Today is one of those rollercoaster days - the Skins have gone from atrocious to just bad, to not so bad, to actually really good, to so far away from fielding a decent team that I will be dead first, back to promising and now to just like every other team really. |

I actually wasn't. I was being nice. It's the positives thread! The one positive I can think of out of our game last week is...well...at least we aren't the Saints? |
