Coles Senario
We have a few teams intrested in trading for Coles which would be the best in your opinion for the Skins
Senarios 1. Skins trade Coles to Jets for Satana Moss 2. Skins trade Coles to Ravens for their first rounder 3. Skins trade Coles to 49ers for their 2nd round and Andre Carter, or some other player. 4. other senario explain and discuss |
Re: Coles Senario
looks like the Jets deal is about done now.
Where are you getting these scenarios? I never knew B-More was willing to give up their 1st rounder for Coles? |
Re: Coles Senario
damn i can't spell... i got my info from a report I saw on Sportscenter were they were speculating on what the skins were going to do.
|
Re: Coles Senario
Or we could just release his ass, save 5 million and cut our loss. Cap hit of 9 million for one player who isn’t there or doesn’t want to be there is unreasonable.

Oh ok. I don't know if the Ravens will really do that. Like I said I think the Skins/Jets deal is done. At least we're getting a good WR in return, whereas if we release him.....we don't get $hit. |
Re: Coles Senario
There's only one likely scenario worth discussing right now

We seem to think just like our team as a whole in undervalueing the talent of our players. Pierce said that the skins spend alot of money on outside talent to get them here but we don't want to pay who we have what they're worth. We have great players and every year I see one of our players go somewhere else and do well. Either getting to the playoffs (bailey) or the superbowl (Trotter, Davis). Coles is a top ten reciever and the Ravens desperatly need a #1, so I think that they would go through with it. They have the #22 pick and thee teams look to be getting the four top Wr in the draft before them (Skins, dallas, Chicago, vikes) so why not? |

49ers please make that trade.
|
Re: Coles Senario
It does seem pointless to discuss other scenarios at this point since this trade seems done pending cap space, but if those other offers were on the table i think the skins will be taking the worst of those 3 deals.
|
Re: Coles Senario
we all know the skins are impulsive. we jump in head first!!
|
Re: Coles Senario
Those other scenarios are pure speculation and I highly doubt there is much truth to them. A player and a high pick for Coles? Please.
|
Re: Coles Senario
I don't really think the Jets deal seems done at all. That report kind of glosses over it, saying that really the only thing that stands in the way is that pesky salary cap issue. But what is important to remember is that we would A) have to get Samuels to complete his restructuring and B) have to get Coles to agree to pay back that bonus. Otherwise the deal just isn't feasible in any way shape or form. If both of those things happen, then I would go out and say that it is probably a done deal, but Coles said he wouldn't pay his bonus back unless we release him. And why would he do us any favors so we could send him to the Jets, a team with the only offense more conservative than ours last year IMO and with a QB who quite possibly can no longer throw the deep ball.

Please explain to me why u feel coles is not worth that |
Re: Coles Senario
i'd trade coles for santanna moss straight up anyday of the week, year,or month!!!

Re: Coles Senario
I wouldn't go so far as to say Coles is a top 10 receiver. A top 20? Possibly. Maybe a few years ago, pre-toe injury he would have been a top 10 receiver.
|
Re: Coles Senario
Coles for MOss is apples for apples. I think they might as well go ahead with that deal
|
Re: Coles Senario
I would agree with that. I don't feel like looking it up but how old is Moss?

First he had career high 90 catches this year hurt. He lead our team in recieving yards since he been on the team. Under Gibbs he caught this many passes double covered most of the season and with a shity quarterback for most of the season. He has a 5th gear of speed that only elite players have. He is not a bad public relations person, even if this thing about him wanting to leave is out there, he has still stated that if he had to stay on the team he would and play hard as well. Tell me 10 wide receivers better than him please... He was the 7th highest reception player in the NFL and not to mention he was in horrible offensive system. |
Re: Coles Senario
Again, it's been a long day and I really don't feel like naming them, but I seriously could easily name 10-15 players better than Coles. I WILL say though, I'm talking about Coles NOW and not Coles when he DID have the 5th gear. I love the man and love how he plays, hurt or not. I just don't think he's in the elite receiver class that he used to be. A great receiver? Yes. Elite receiver? I wouldn't go quite that far.

Re: Coles Senario
OK, here are some more questions:
1. Suppose the Coles-for-Moss deal does go through. Do we still draft a wideout at #9? 2. Does a trade like this constrict the Skins' ability to sign any more free agents of any value, like a cornerback or maybe Derrick Mason? 3. And do we need somebody like Derrick Mason to compliment Santana Moss? Remember, we're replacing TWO starting wide receivers. |
Re: Coles Senario
I thought we were saying to maybe give Taylor Jacobs a shot? Even though I think the jury might still be out on that decision.
|
Re: Coles Senario
I'm just saying we have to look not just at the man but the system as well because Not on I feel like Coles is a good player with alot of potiential including the NYJets. they are willing to give their #1 reciever for him, and I don't even think moss is comparable to Coles but, we have to get something becasuse we've been put in a bad spot right now.
|
Re: Coles Senario
The Vikings had all these outrageous rumors for moss, but moss is a top four receiver in the league ( i said top four becuase no one should have reason to argue that). And they didnt end up getting as much as I thought they would. So now people are going to base that on what we get for Coles. Im just glad to see that somehow they turned this around and made it to our advantage. We looked like fools cutting our top producer after the first day, now it looks like we have competing teams trying to get him, we have the money to trade him after redoing a few things, and we want top compensation in return.
|
Re: Coles Senario
I'd still draft a WR if a good one is available... though having 1 spot secured gives you more flexibility.
LC is much better than S. Moss from what i've seen though... moss hasnt even started 16 games in a season :( This is really gardener's replacement. |
