I think I'm already taking RG3 for granted a little bit. He's off the charts talented and fun to watch.

....may I add he can set those records but he won't ...................not unless he learns to slide! He'll never make it the year taking hits like he did on the last drive. |

I think he has been getting better, but on the last drive he did what he had to which was get every yard possible for his kicker. |

Yeah without that cutback to the middle of the field who knows what would have happened. He got an extra 10-15 yards out of it. It was a huge play. Sometimes you've got to take a hit. Overall he wasn't hit very much yesterday so that was nice to finally see. |
Re: RG3 on Pace to Set 13 NFL Records This Season
I mean he's a running QB. It's part of his game. He is going to get hit. What we need to continue doing is not subjecting him to systematic pounding. Did a good job on that yesterday and the 1st game. The middle two not as much. Everyone is till feeling this guy out a little. He can do way more than was expected I think.

I think yesterday was the type of day I like to see from Griffin on the ground. While he was hit hard on the final drive, it wasn't a devastating hit because he was able to brace for it; it's much different when his body is outstretched giving a pitch on the option or extending his arms over the goal line, which exposes his ribs for truly painful shots. We can never eliminate the hits he's going to take. His legs are what separate him from other star passers, and what makes it so defenses cannot fully contain this offense; we do not want to take that away. What we do want is to eliminate hits where his body is badly exposed. I think he did a good job of limiting those yesterday. More games like that, less like Cincy from now on. |
Re: RG3 on Pace to Set 13 NFL Records This Season
Even QBs that don't run have game sin whcih they take a pounding. It's the strategic pounding that we have to avoid.
|
Re: RG3 on Pace to Set 13 NFL Records This Season
I'll take wins over records.
:oink: But its nice to bask in his awesomeness either way. :headbange |
Re: RG3 on Pace to Set 13 NFL Records This Season
It's hard to imagine the skins actually having a dynamic superstar QB but we do!
|
Re: RG3 on Pace to Set 13 NFL Records This Season
Griff is definitely special! Well rounded quarteback, well-rounded person. Now if we can just give him a defense, Super Bowl baby!
|
Re: RG3 on Pace to Set 13 NFL Records This Season
RG3 is a dynamic quarterback. And to think he's only played one quarter of his rookie season. He still has 3/4 of the season to go. On pace to break 13 records? Damn! I hope he does it.

Last night in the Eagles game the sideline reporter showed a flak vest that Vick wears to protect his ribs. Anyone know if Griffin is already wearing this. Honestly seems like should become standard issue on any offensive guy who is going to take hard midsection hits.

yeah but will it protect him in these scenarios?

Re: RG3 on Pace to Set 13 NFL Records This Season
The more I watch this kid, I believe that he was a steal for the picks we surrendered. He has the poise of a 10 year vet, for the third straight week, guiding the Skins into scoring territory in the two minute offense. I'll go out on a limb - RG3 is the best two minute QB for the Skins since Theismann. Imagine how effective he will be after a couple years of upgrades on the O-line. I fully expect deep playoff runs by then.

Griffin III is the first true franchise QB since Theismann period. I would have chosen him over Andrew Luck if we had the first pick in the draft. The more Bruce Allen and Mike Shanahan pick the right players in the draft and free agency to stabilize this team more and more, the better the team will be, I agree. |
Re: RG3 on Pace to Set 13 NFL Records This Season
We have someone very special here...no doubt. We're always in the game with Bob at QB.

Don't sell Luck short, they are both equally talented. Griffin has more talent around him. |
Re: RG3 on Pace to Set 13 NFL Records This Season
We should bring back John Beck. Then the offense will really get cookin'.
|
Re: RG3 on Pace to Set 13 NFL Records This Season
This kids a stud. Plan and simple. Best Redskins pick since probably Sean Taylor.
We have 2 of the top 5 Rookies right now in the NFL, IMO. Great draft. I'd send those 3(or 2 depending on who your talking to) firsts and that 2nd to them any day of the week. Imagine Robert in 2 years when he has a better pocket presence and OL as will as a defense that can cover...The possibilities are endless. He still hasn't learned the entire offense and he is just finding ways to amaze us week after week with different skill sets he has. |

I'm in no way saying that RG3 is the better QB of the two. Luck's day will come. While I regard both very highly, I give RG3 a much better grade than Luck. Based on the combine and based on their junior years in college before they were drafted. And based on the Big 12 was more competitive than the Pac-12. |

If I'm not mistaken, Vick was wearing that last year against us when he got sandwiched at the goalline and broke 2 ribs....... |

Vick wears something different from a different company. This interview with one of the founders of evoshield talks about the differences. Re: RG3 on Pace to Set 13 NFL Records This Season
I want to bring up something about the hits that RG3 is taking.... I've watched every play of every game so far this season and most of his hits other than the one this past game where a guy actually wraps him up and slams him into the ground are of the slaming into him and him ricocheting off varity. To me the physics of those kinds of hit are better for RG3 because while the hit looks vicious, he generally has been knocked away from everyone and onto the ground. He is not getting "crunched" or sandwiched between guys which can cause major injuries. He knows how to take a hit. Does that make sense?
|
Re: RG3 on Pace to Set 13 NFL Records This Season
Anybody remember watching Randall Cunningham? I was just a kid at the time but I remember him getting blown up regularly, but escaping injury because he was generally not getting buried in the turf. I'm hoping for similar luck with RG3.

Please do not say that word around here ever again. :vomit: |
Re: RG3 on Pace to Set 13 NFL Records This Season
Come on people. We haven't even played a division game yet.
The NFL did us a favor by giving us the worst defenses at the start of the year to build hype for the kid. he hasn't done shit till he beats the Cowboys, Eagles and Giants. Those are the games that matter. |

I agree completely. Accept for that one wrap up by Mccoy last game where he got Robert from behind and his knee bent very awkward, I almost shit my pants, that really couldve been bad. |

I know Romo threw 5 picks last night, but he and Manning and Vick will chew up the Skins secondary in its current form. |
