NFL mad at Skins

Is this a lose more cap space problem, a fine or lost draft picks? I agree with Cowherd on this one topic. Why tell the opponent who's hurting where during the game? |
Re: NFL mad at Skins
Thread title is a bit dramatic don't you think?
The league is just making sure they handled things correctly. Not a situation where we're looking at losing picks. |
Re: NFL mad at Skins
They have an obligation, as I recall, per league rules to be clear about injuries. But they're not going to lose picks over this...they'll probably just have to trade RG3 for a conditional 7th. OH MY GOD SEASON OVER!!!!!!!

Re: NFL mad at Skins
So then then NFL is mad at Bill Belichick every single week? Because for that mf'er the words "accurate injury report" don't exist in his vocabulary.

Re: NFL mad at Skins
Lol thread over, glad we are actually playing a little mental chess.
|
Re: NFL mad at Skins
I thought a team didn't have to say squat about a player's injury until after the game?
|
Re: NFL mad at Skins
Do you guys sit around and think up these stupid Titles so you can make it worthy of starting a thread.

Re: NFL mad at Skins

I've had two concussions. One at about 6 or 7 years old and the other when I was 29. My doctor said just two concussions can lead to impairment etc later in life. And the biggest concern is that you let the brain swelling/bruising subside before any further physical activity. Doc said I shouldn't even visit the gym for a week. This stuff is actually pretty common knowledge. |

Concussions are serious.
I get that you dont like the current regime, and for that matter, that the current regime gives plenty of ammo to drill them with. But are you really calling it bad management for saying "shaken up"? I get if they had put him back in the game, but that didnt happen. Who cares what they call it? If someone gets a neck injury on most teams, they call it a slight ankle sprain. There was never any chance RG3 was going back into that game. And tbh, that hit was on RG3. He should not have tried to cut that up but should have either ran out of bounds or threw it out of bounds. He has to learn that he cant be the hero on every play. It even looked like they were avoiding the designed QB runs, which im not a huge fan of. |
Re: NFL mad at Skins
I look at it this way, the HC was coaching a game and is not going to stop to go find out exactly what the injury is. As far as I'm concerned the doctors were still checking him out all the way up to the end of the game trying to determine how bad the concussion actually was. And.......the HC announced it during the media session after the game. Most likely when he found out exactly what was wrong and how bad so he could report it. Besides the Patriots have done the same thing over the years and no punishment.

Re: NFL mad at Skins
I know everyone online has a medical degree, let's let the doctors figure out if RG3 is fit to play or not.
He's going to have to pass independent testing to get cleared, sorry we can't point the finger at the FO for this one. |

This stuff is actually pretty common knowledge.
Yes, because your doctor, who no doubt is as completely as well-versed in concussions as the doctors treating RGIII (who deal with concussions on a daily basis), was prescribing the only practical treatment known regardless of situation. Forget that YOU getting a concussion is not even remotely close to the same situation as a football player who gets paid millions to work. I am not saying he should HAVE to play but the fact that your prescribed treatment offers a threat to his livelihood makes the decision totally different. You being told not to go to the gym is an inconvenience. Him being told he can't play is his life. I'd find some steps to get off the high horse you're riding. |

This stuff is actually pretty common knowledge.
Since this stuff is "common knowledge", then you would also know there are different levels and severity of concussions. Some might require a day to sit out, others weeks or even months. Now, for you to claim he should sit out would mean you have some sort of expertise on diagnosing concussions. I'm quite positive the coaching staff or the medical staff will no jeopardize this guy's future by allowing him to play before he's ready. I'm quite positive they have to go through tests to be allowed to play again after being diagnosed with a concussion. |
Re: NFL mad at Skins
I've had two concussions.
Two? Pffff! I've had at least 6 but it probably higher as I forget a lot of things these days. In all seriousness I would err on the side of caution with RGIII, no need to rush him back. |
Re: NFL mad at Skins
Got knocked out one time playing football and I'll be honest and say I went to basketball shortly after. Of course my doc wasn't great about positive outcome of football either.
|
Re: NFL mad at Skins
I got concussed in 8th or 9th grade playing organized football. I put my head down to absorb a hit while playing QB and remember everything gone black for like 2-3 seconds then getting up and had a hard time balancing my legs. It was scary and i felt "slow" and lethargic immediately afterwards. Sh*t is not fun
|
Re: NFL mad at Skins
I figure I've probably had a half dozen at least. The worst was from playing flag football of all things. Knocked heads with another guy when we were both going for a flag, I was out like a light for a few seconds and dizzy as all hell when I got up. That was back when you just shook out the "cobwebs" and kept playing. Stupid. I remember a few hits from high school ball where I saw some stars or briefly had tunnel vision.

(Sorry. I just couldn't resist. Really, sorry to hear about your condition and hope you can take the jibe in the spirit it was meant).
No worries. Both were bizarre accidents. The last one probably made me more sensitive to the players situation than most. It's scary how loopy or "dumb" you become with a concussion. After the last one I sat down to kill a sudoku puzzle, which would normally take 15 or 20 minutes, and after an hour of stairing at the page still mostly blank I knew concussions are serious. |

I'd find some steps to get off the high horse you're riding.
I'd typically just ignore this kind of nonsense, but yours is one of the most ignorant posts I've ever read on this board. Having seen relatives deteriorate from dementia and eventually alzheimer's there is no amount of money and/or glory worth the loss of health. A few years ago I'd have worried that team docs would push a player, but given the NFL's current situation with player health RG3 should be protected. ...and no, my opinion is he shouldn't play this week. If you don't like it please add me to your ignore list. In fact, please do so regardless. Thanks. |

I'm usually critical, but RG3 has been running a bit less (what everyone wanted) and got KOed by a hard hit. And the FO or skins Drs have nothing to do with next game's decision. Somehow people still find a way to hate. |

RG3 never lost conciousness = lower severity. Romo went to sleep against Tampa and came back in the game. Our FO is doing good by RG3. He learned a lesson and got off lucky on that hit. |

Instead of being so sure you're the smartest guy in the room you could try to understand something. It isn't your job on anyone else's job to decide what is right for a football player. You equating getting a concussion as anything functionally equivalent to someone like RGIII getting one is laughable. Look it comes down to risk aversion. To you and me getting a concussion ourselves presents a health risk similar to anyone else but along with that comes other indirect risks. You not being able to go to the gym is a small price to pay to offset the health risk. Bob not playing football isn't even close to the same thing. So don't compare them. Should the Drs/team/league look out for him? Absolutely. But part of the metrics they use in determining whether he can play involves his overall well-being, including the non-health related aspects. And by the way, your opinion on whether he should play is completely useless and pointless. What exactly do you know to think anyone here on anywhere would care about such an opinion? |
