on Fletcher, I don't think they ruled him out for this week. Meriweather is out for the season.

More, and more, I find myself questioning the professionalism of the Redskins training staff. It is an issue that has been brought up by both fans and players alike during the past decade. Why is this issue continuously being swept under the rug? Given the frequency, and severity, of the numerous injuries over the course of the last several years, I might also be inclined to question the strength and conditioning coaches.

Every team has injuries, today it was announced that Willis McGahee went out 6-8 weeks with a torn right MCL.

Dallas potentially lost their starting LT

Clay Matthews for GB has been out.

The list is never ending. I don't know how good, or bad, our strength and conditioning programs are. Supposedly when Shanahan got here they were one of the worst in the league, but are now getting better (moreso do to BA), but I don't know how to prove or disprove it. My point is, Every team's fans think their injuries are the worst, but I would be surprised if there was a statistically relevant amount more on the Skins team.

He changed our defense. Granted we went against a rookie QB with a makeshift offensive line, but Merriweather made his presence known. This is a hit. We need safety help...

Fletcher ruled out? lol The only thing that would keep fletcher out of this game would be two amputated legs.

we've needed it for years and years. Finally time to make it a priority in the offseason. Merriweather was great out there yesterday

Hopefully another safety steps up based on BM's performance...things go that way sometimes.

Re: Brandon Meriweather, You Big Tease (Injury News)

BM played a nice game but I'm not sure we wouldn't have had the same type of performance without him. The Eagles are pretty horrible right now on offense. Their OL is a mess and Foles looks lost. Still, I'd rather be moving forward with him than without him.

Re: Brandon Meriweather, You Big Tease (Injury News)

This is brutal. It materially affects how we can call our D on Thursday, I think. With Austin and Bryant out there, having a physical and quick safety like BM really makes a difference. Dejon Gomes -- come on down (and please step up).

Wow after post game I was really hopeful he'd be back .. that is a CRUSHING blow .. he was a difference maker .. only hope is we can provide something close to what he brought and keep the pass rush up .. that's the key obviously .. Kerrigan must have pro-bowl type last 6 games for us to make this run .. i still believe because of a certain QB

I am not interested in a statistical relevance as it pertains to the competency of a group of healthcare professionals Within the realm of an organized sport. And you should not be either. I would venture to say that it is the things that they are not doing, intangibles, that would expose the root of the problem.

Yeah. Who would care about facts, statistical relevance and the opinions of medical professionals in determining: (1) if the number and type of injuries suffered by Redskins' players is statistically comparable to other teams' injuries or (2) if the Skin's training staff is adhering to the standards of the industry in performing their jobs.

Wild speculation is much more reliable.

Edit: as soon as i saw that BW said he would play Thursday I knew he was done for the year. It reminded me too much of Garcon shaking off the week one injury with similar comments. Damn just damn - BW so helped that D yesterday. Oh well.

Anyone wanna see injuries?

Check out the Packers right now.

In fact, check out the injury report for every team each week.

We're nearing the end of almost 4 full months of football. Guess what, guys are pretty banged up by now.

^ in regards to your sarcasm: there is virtually no conceivable method of developing an equation that would accurately illustrate the competency of the group in question. There are simply to many variables in place (bone breaks vs muscle tears, recurring injuries, etc.) when your field of inquiry is a sport as violent as football. Were you to consider the majority of our more recent injuries however, you would find that most are easily reduced in their frequency, if said group had a more "competent" understanding of preventative medicine, which we currently seem to lack.

seriously off base. First, the various types of injuries can be classified, and certainly are. 2nd, the data is extremely quantifiable, 32 teams, 10 years, x number of players IR'd per team, broken down per classification. Add in length of recovery, and throw out any pure anomalies, and those paid to do statistical analysis would give you books ad nauseaum. I have no clue if the Skins would fall outside of the statistical norm, but the smell test to me says that our team is no more or less prone then the rest of the NFL.

Re: Brandon Meriweather, You Big Tease (Injury News)

Unfortunately, those classifications are not defined within the scope of football, so the classification is nothing more than the diagnosis; making their analytical relevance "a wash." We have a bad history within the organization of players suffering non-career threatening injuries yet never finding the field on a consistent basis after the fact, as an example. And though I may not be a doctor, I am a graduate of my university's school of health and human performance; so I insist that you do not pass "the new guy's" rant as one of angered stuper.

Re: Brandon Meriweather, You Big Tease (Injury News)

This is some absolutely shitty ****ing news. God damnit.

Keep hearing how injuries happen to all teams. Well, how many of those teams are down 7 starters for the year? (and still being competitive) It's not like we've lost backups or lost a guy for a few weeks. We've lost guys for the season. You can't lose that many starters (especially quality ones) for that length of time and do well.

Anyone decent on the FA market at Safety?

Thoughts on Ray Ray Armstrong? (due to his situation he should fall pretty late in the draft next year, or am I just hoping he will be half as good as Sean T because of all the early rumors about him?)

What is your basis for this conclusion? Sports medicine is a well developed field. Experts conduct research and regularly provide testimony and reports based on that research in the area all the time. Sarcasm aside, I believe your assertion to be false and, at best, speculative. I would post links demonstrating the falsity of your assertion, but I am at work and have access issses.
Were you to consider the majority of our more recent injuries however, you would find that most are easily reduced in their frequency, if said group had a more "competent" understanding of preventative medicine, which we currently seem to lack.
I would? And how would you prove this lack of competence?

Facts and expert analysis are absolutely relevant as to whether the Skins staff is incompetent. The question of "competence" is determined by whether or not the techniques, methods and practices of the Redskins trainers conform the standards within the industry. Are they performing the required tests? Are they taking the steps indicated by medical professionals who analyze these things for a living, etc.

Do you have any medical training? Do you know the standards within the industry? Can you tell me what, specifically, the Skins trainers are not doing which trainers in professional leagues are doing and should be doing? If not, you're conclusion that the Skins' trainers are incompetent is, again, base speculation.

You want to believe they are incompetent? Fine. In doing so, however, and without comparative facts or expert opinions, you are simply giving an uniformed opinion.

You, of course, are free to talk out your ass all you like. Your attempt to defend your speculative opinions by asserting that informed opinions can't be made, however, is, at best, wrong and, at worst, ignorant.
