Giants v Redskins - Griffin's 1st Rematch

Time to start the long draw to Monday night.

There are so many reasons to be excited and nervous for this game it's amazing. But the one that peaks my interest, even more than a shot at the Division title, is the fact that this is Griffin's first rematch. We know he learns from his mistakes, but can he learn from his opponents' mistakes too? Will we hear him say "They did x in the first game, so we thought we could pull that play off this time". And on the flip side, how will the Giants game plan change, now that they have seen him, and the players have a sense of his cadence and approach. Does he have any subtle tells that the DLine might pick up on. Division games are intense because of the familiarity between the opponents, this time will be no different.

Then there is the "it's a big game factor". I think we all agree Griffin is showing himself to step up in big situations, and that no stage is too big. But what about the receivers, or Morris. Does Griffin's presence draw them to bigger and better plays, like it seems to be doing.

And we have the 11 day off factor. Did the team rest, do they come out fresh, or do they look out of sorts vs a Giants team coming off a HUGE Sunday night win of their own?

Finally some stats for your enjoyment:
AccuScore puts the Giants at a 50% to 49% win (26-25)
Offense
Total Yards NYG 369 WSH 385
Yards Passing NYG 255 WSH 222
Yards Rushing NYG 115 WSH 163
Defense
Yards Allowed NYG 367 WSH 391
Pass Yards NYG 253 WSH 301
Rush Yards NYG 114 WSH 89

Giants favored by 3, O/U 51 points

Fans will be rocking, and Fed Ex will be a homefield for the first time in a long time!

We gave the Dwarfs all that they could handle the first time and we have a strong recent history against them. While you can't be too confident against the Dwarfs, I am relatively confident.

Also, I think Kai misses his first kick this week, I just hope it isn't the difference. No reason other than it's been too nice not having to worry about kicks lately.

Griffin, Morris and Forbath - three guys under 25 who will throwing the Giants down, running over them and then kicking their butts for about a decade or so.

This one is going to be another close game that is decided in the 4th quarter and a turnover. Hoping it is not us.

The one thing I hate about Monday night football...1 more extra day of waiting. We haven't fared well on MNF the past few years. Last year we lost to Dallas, year before that was the mike Vick beatdown, year before that was giants with Zorn doing the same stupid play twice in a row.

When the giants want to play, they're next to unbeatable. Justin tuck has already said in a conference call that the giants are going into this game as if its a playoff clincher...not good for us. And it's not that I don't think rg3 will do good this game, it's that I don't see our defense stopping Eli, nicks, Cruz, Bradshaw, and Bennett.

It'll be tough and turnovers will be huge this game, more so than other games. Also this game will show us if we re good or if we're a fluke for beating two bad teams.

Odd thing to focus on.

Redskins win by limiting the Giants to Field Goals only.

Bulletin board material:

"They're still a couple pieces away from actually being a contender, them being in legitimate talks for playoffs and things like that," Cruz said today on a conference call. "They're still a few pieces away whether it be defensively or wherever they are missing some pieces. But I think they've definitely -- they've got to be in the conversation. They've got a good team, they play good football, they hold the ball for a long time, and they really do some good things. So I definitely put them in that conversation, for sure."

I agree with Cruz. We are a few pieces away.

Good teams don't need quotes and material to make them play well. I would hope we dont a stupid quote to motivate us.

I never really got the whole bulletin board material bit. It comes down to talent, execution and a bit of fortune.

Giants are the better team but we are on fire right now and I really believe this team has the fight to make a real playoff push. Skins win in a great game On MNF.

30-24 skins

Griffin has 300 yards 2 tds 1 int.
65 rush yards 1 TD

Manning has 280 yards 3 tds 2 ints

To play devil's advocate, the defense is playing better now. They're swarming to the ball and playing with higher energy, and I think Haslett is doing (marginally?) better with adjustments. The biggest things I notice are hustle and toughness though, and gotta give Hall credit for being a leader here with 3rd most tackles on the team.

And, one thing I was wrong about is the offense misses Garcon, though not nearly as much as a healthy Fred Davis. Garcon evidently didn't suffer a setback on Thanksgiving either, so he's "due" for another good game.

Plus the crowd should be at it's best, right? MNF against the hated Giants and everybody knows were competing for a playoff spot?

The optomistic side of me says and hopes your right; the pessimistic side in me says it was the Eagles and Cowboys(--and the Cowboys came back too with a couple huge plays) two teams which are really bad right now.

We shall see come Monday Night. I'm stoked, hopefully its the same out as Thanksgiving and not the sunday before election day...

I just hope we come out swinging. That tells me what I need to know about this regime. Coming out flat, like we did against Pittsburgh and Carolina, is unacceptable at this point.

Got to pressure Eli and hope our secondary can make some plays. Comes with the risk of getting burnt here and there but its better than giving him all day to pick us apart.

I agree but I really don't see us coming out flat. They owe us one and there's alot at stake. Plus RG3 seems to love big games and I'm expecting our offense to be even harder to stop this go around. To CRedskinsRule's point RG3 rarely if ever makes the same mistake twice because he's very intelligent and I can't wait to see him play them a second time. And Garcon's back. As far as the defense it's usually a crapshoot. But I hope Haslett and the D are looking for a little redemption and as you say...come out swinging.

Re: Giants v Redskins - Griffin's 1st Rematch

The Giants killed the Packers last week, because the Packers can't run the ball worth a damn. The Redskins can, which will slow the game down a bit in terms of the number of possesions and limit the Giant's opportunities. Without turnovers the Giants won't put 38 up on the Skins. It probably boils down to who wins the turnover battle and who has the ball at the end of the game. I don't see either team blowing out the other. Really hard to predict an outcome other than to say I'm glad its at Fed-X and not the Meadowlands. I'll go with Skins 31-G-men 24.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that one of my least favorite players, DHall, has a big game.

Also ESPN 980 said that Jerome Boger will ref our game. We are 4-1 in games which he refs for us.

Also I think josh Morgan finally gets into the endzone this week.

As a fan I gotta agree and say Skins win 37-34.

Standing back and looking at the whole picture though, I am amazed that we're saying the Skins will beat the team that blew away the Packers last week. Maybe that's a sign of parity in the league, or we think they're a heck of a lot better team than they were a little over 2 weeks ago...

Or we're wearing rose colored glasses and enjoying our kool-aid. No matter, this is no doubt the most optimistic set of Redskins fans in a decade. And with good reason. I'm enjoying it thoroughly...

Re: Giants v Redskins - Griffin's 1st Rematch

we need this win, definitley need to pressure Eli, and hope the secondary can hold and keep things in front of them this time... get Morris going early... but please lay off the plays that start 5 yards back on 3rd and short KYLE ... i expect some draws and screens more so this time than last b/c they have seen what kind of pressure NY got last time.. more bootlegs after stretch runs and the play action should open up some shots down field... i expect Moss to have a big game and NOT fumble the ball on an important drive this time... having Garcon back is obviously huge, bigger than most of us thought i presume.. i hope to NOT see TOO MUCH of the quick drops and quick passes because it seems teams, starting wtih CAR, have begun to catch onto KYLE in that respect... on defense I wanna see more of the looks we gave the Eagles and the type of pressure packages we used that game more so than what we usually do which is nearly the same damn Vanilla ass looking defense every down... we need the crowd to be in this, and if my ebay luck stays true... I will be there hyping up everyone in the damn section all the way from Lancaster PA!

As I started with, we need this WIN. GO SKINS. HAIL!

I'm not sure if we need to pressure Eli. Seems like he makes his best plays/passes while getting pressured and makes his mistakes when he is not pressured. Maybe our lack of getting preasure on him works to our benefit.

I agree with him too, but if you're on the opposing team keep your mouth shut the week of the game against the same guys you are talking about. We don't need the G-Ladies playing general manager for us or sharing their opinions.

I am just tired of Cruz, probably wouldn't have bothered me so much if some other guy said it. Please keep that guy out of the endzone Monday night.
