#16
He has lost it as a return man. As much as I'd like to see him progress, it almost appears that #16 riding pine would be a good and strategic move going forward. Niles Paul had the game's best kickoff return for the Redskins, taking one 39 yards.

Re: #16
Totally agree. Wasted roster spot. The guy does nothing; I take ARE back at this point.
|
Re: #16
I used to think the world of him because of his blazing speed, but he's nothing like Mike Nelms and Brian Mitchell. Once again #16 fielded a kickoff in the middle of the end zone and only made it to the 15 yard line, giving the offense very inferior field position. If Danny Smith can't realize he needs to be replaced, then he himself should be replaced.

Re: #16
It was nice seeing Niles Paul snag one out of his hands and take it 30+ yards. Yeah, I'm over Brandon Banks as a return guy. He still shows some utility in the option- but other then that- he seems like more a of a liability than anything else.

Re: #16
robinson/paul on kicks
moss on punts banks on streets? if we had brought in routt or edwards, or babin - i would favor cutting him. but it seems like we can afford his spot on the roster, so leave him be. |
Re: #16
c'mon people. we won the game last night and have won 3 games in a row. do you have to bitch about banks today? and btw...his blocking didn't look very good either....
|
Re: #16
#16 is bad in the return game. He was used as a running back in the Cincinatti game a little bit but hasn't been featured on offense since. Where does #16 even fit in on the team? They never put him in as a WR. Why in the hell is he even on the team?
|
Re: #16
Banks has to go. Id say finding a returner is pretty high up on the list after the season. Too many bad decisions.
|
Re: #16
It's time to move on from the Brando train, I had high hopes, but its obvious that he's not making smart decisions when the ball is in his hands, I know he wants to make the big play so bad cause he feels he has to to keep his job, but sometimes Banksy, you gotta play smart for the team. some times the 20 yard line is better then taking a shot at breaking one and ending at the 16.

moss on punts [/quote] This sounds like money in the Bank to me. Moss use to be on returns, but then he got heavy and slow but now that he's in shape again why not. He's still got some pep in that step and has got to be more mentally sound then Banks. |

he's no longer our #1 wr, he's still got juice, let 'im at it. |

I agree he can only be has good as his blockers....truth be told I'm amazed Danny Smith has kept his job this long. |

I would rather cut him and bring in a kick off specialist.

gotta feeling he is not coming back. I think some of "his guys" havent worked out. |
Re: #16
Problem with Banks is he isn't a fearless returner. He heavily relies on his speed *and* some sort of crease or seam along the sidelines. Teams have taken that away and have been forcing him closer the hashmarks, where he's largely ineffective.

We dont need to find a returner. Theres half a dozen guys on the team who could do a good job as a return man, but they arent getting the opportunity because our coaches are stubbornly sticking with banks. |

I think you could add multi dimesional weapon either at WR or as a 3rd Down RB(like to add a RB who catches well outta the backfield if Helu is gonna be injured all the time) who can be also a returner. We should always be looking to add weapons. Sure another guy could do it, I just dont know if they are a serious threat back there. But I agree to at least give Paul or Robinson another serious try. |

Danny Smith will be back. "His guys".....not so much. I can't really complain about the special teams since Kobra Kai has been on board. Just wished they cut Banks and bring on a kick off specialist. That's about the only tweak I would do to ST at this time. |
Re: #16
We need a Jacoby Jones type of guy. A returner that can actually play WR.

it's the best way to make sarcastic/joke posts. it doesn't spoil the joke like using [/sarc] or j/k, and it covers your ass if someone claims that you were not joking. the proof is in the pudding.

Re: #16
BB is gone at the end of the year. He isn't a smart returner, and is way too small for this league. He can return a kick or punt for a TD next game and still he must go.
You look at FA and the draft with the return men Julian Edelman Welker Josh Cribbs Amendola Woodhead Ginn And draft wise you have Honey badger aka Tyran Mathieu Justin Gilbert OKST Xavier Rhodes FSU Johnathan Banks MissSt Tavon Austin WVU Quinton Patton LATech TJ Moe Mizzou |
Re: #16
He is garbage. I've been screaming at the television to cut this guy for 3 weeks. The wife says you better go on the warpath and vent. lol

Every time he gets the ball I fear for his life. His 140 lb life. So tiny.

Re: #16
I love the thread title. Very descriptive.
As far as Banks goes, I think most of us are in agreement. In the return game he offers very little. |
Re: #16
Has anyone noticed Pierre Garcon's burst when he's running towards the end zone? Maybe Garcon should be asked to handle punt and kickoff returns.

Definitely not. |

Every time he gets the ball I fear for the ball. It's too easy to make him fumble. |
Re: #16

Garcon is too valuable. But all in all, Banks needs to be replaced. The only time he ever runs one back is in the preseason to prevent from getting cut. When he's on the opening day roster, he doesn't do much all year. Kyle Shanahan said earlier in the year that they would try to utilize what Banks can do offensively but Banks hasn't been heard from on offense for weeks. I'm not sure where he fits it. We desperately need another return man. |

He usually wastes time dancing, waiting for the sea of bodies to part instead of heading upfield. Give me a slightly slower, north and south return man like Niles Paul any day.

Niles Paul is decent but he isn't going to break one for 75-80 yards on punt returns or 100 yards on kickoffs. He doesn't have the speed. Aldrick Robinson should be given an opportunity to run back punts and kicks He has the speed and the burst. But Robinson fumbled a few times on punt returns in the 2011 preseason and it landed him on the practice squad. |
