Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
Isn't it nice that we aren't discussing who to pick if the top 5, if we should trade picks, who gets fired, who the free agents are.
If anything, our off season talk should be about the rules for when other teams could try and interview Kyle for a head coaching job. So nice to be back in the playoffs. |
Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
ha! you beat me to it. or at least in my mind. i was hoping someone else started this.
but isn't it great for the first time in YEARS we're not wondering which redskin coach.gm deserves to be on the list. fees so good. |

Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
Glad to see Gene Smith go. Very Vinnyesque GM. Kept on thinking he was smarter than everyone else.

Michael Brockers + Janoris Jenkins >>>>>>> RG3 :D |
Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
Bears are talking to other coaching candidates, but havently officially fired Lovie Smith.

Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
Looks like changes coming to Carolina and Chicago as well

As of today, the best(for the Rams) it could be would be the 21st. Going forward this is from CBS Sports:
Picks 21-32 will be determined by the playoffs and the round teams are eliminated. For example, the losing teams in the wild card round will pick 21-24, the losing teams in the divisional round will pick 25-28, etc. Same tiebreaker rules apply.
|
Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
My biggest concern is holding on to Kyle. What's the chances he stays? Im thinking 50/50 at this point.
|
Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
Rivera and Lovie are surprising to me. Carolina finished decently and the Bears won 10 games (but 3-5 after a 7-1 start). Of course Norv will be added soon and Wisenhunt won't surprise me.

Rivera loses his job, thats my choice for D-Cordinator IF Haslett goes. |

90-10. A lot of progress made over the last month in keeping him |

Chan canned.

Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
Redskins are finally just starting to win, and can be for a long time, why would anyone want to go anywhere right now. Everyones jobs seem pretty secure on the Skins coaching staff, why risk going to another team just to be fired like so many other coaches are already experiencing today. I say to the Skins coaches, stay put and enjoy the success awhile, its hard to come by...

That offense has been dreadful his entire tenure, and the STILL haven't fixed their issues with the OL. It's Vinnyish. |

great news. Kyle made me a believer this year |
Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
Chicago did win 10 games. Kind of rare to see someone win 10 games and get fired.

starting 7-1 and missing the playoffs is bad, doing similarly 2 years in a row(7-3 miss, 7-1 miss) is Very Very Bad. |

Smoot, where are we.... In year 3 of a 5 year deal with Mike Shannahan? I hope Snyder is thinking like I am that either you resign Mike to a new contract down the road or Kyle becomes his successor. |

Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
I don't think Mike signs an extension with us. I think he coaches all 5 years with us then hands over HC duties to Kyle who will be 35 then and ready.

Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
Kind of surprised Ron Rivera was let go. Got to give the guy more time to build the team. I love how these owners think changes coaches like they change their underwear will help the team. Change just for changes sake doesn't help when everyone has to start all over again.
I think the biggest mistake so far was in Cleveland. The Browns were putting something together with a lot of young talent and now they are back to square one just like they have been constantly over the last decade. I think if they had kept the coaching staff in tact they could have been vying for a playoff birth next year. |

Problem is their tired of him notngetting over the hump. Sound familiar...Schottenheimer, Norv is another. |
Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
Crennel should never get another HC job. He has just been horrible as a HC.
I don't understand how the Jets could fire Tannenbaum and keep Rex Ryan. As long as Rex is their HC, the Jets will be a circus and nothing more. Sure, Norv deserved to be fired because the ups and downs for the Chargers have been ridiculous. And yet the real culprit for that franchise's downfall is A.J. Smith. His inflexible approach, which caused the Chargers to lose too many star players, gutted the team. It's about time Smith got canned. In Cleveland, a new owner and the RGIII trade that didn't happen doomed Holmgren, his GM, and his HC. I hate the way a bunch of high paid prima donnas quit on Andy Reid in Philadelphia. But I think he'll coach again in the NFL. He's too good to not get hired again. Hopefully, he'll take a year or two off because he needle on his stress meter must be in the red right now. I don't understand why Jim Schwartz is getting a pass in Detroit. The Lions have way too much talent to be so bad. That team is about as poorly coached as it gets. |

Thankfully Snyder Redskins 2.0 was smart enough to let others do their jobs. |

Yeah. Rex's teams have gotten more and more dysfunctional as he coaches. I expect a complete implosion next year. The Jets' clown car will become an out of control careening circus of calamity. Bloody clown shoes will fly everywhere. |
Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
Rex Ryan's job is safe for now, the future GM will determine if Rex Ryan stays as the head coach. Lovie Smith deserved to be fired. 3 playoffs appearances in 9 years.

Tannenbaum did a lot to bring down the Jets, he was their version of Vinny. Sent from my GT-P5113 using Tapatalk 2 |

Well they did lose Cutler last year and there was no qualified back up. This year their o-line is just pitiful. Seems like the GM needs to go before Lovie. |
Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
Rex Ryan doesn't/didn't deserve to be fired; it was all Tannebaum and his stupidity to bringing Tebow there. It was a whole organization decision to get Sanchez. I will say though that if Rex and this team doesn't get to 9-7 next year, it'll be the end of Rex.
Side note, Devin Hester is contemplating retirement, via a twitter report of a bears writer |

LT, Jason Taylor and Kris Jenkins (first two are potential hall of famers) said that Rex Ryan is a great coach and the reason they went to the jets. I've heard these guys on CBS, Inside the NFL and NFLN all say positive things about Rex. Is Rex absolutely not to blame? No, he deserves some blame. But is Rex the problem? Not at all. Tannebaum is the problem along with Tebow and Sanchez. As soon as those 3 are gone (1 down 2 to go), then we'll see the Jets become better. Think of it like us with McNabb and Haynesworth and Vinny; It takes time, but the Coach is not the blame, its the organization and who runs it. Rex doesn't run the whole Jets, he runs a third of it. |

Danny will pay him and Mike will ask him to stay, they've got a good thing going. He's going nowhere. |
HC & GM gone in Arizona and San Diego per Schefter.

Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
25% of NFL head coaches fired today. A strong (but not perfect) theme, poor qb play. There aren't 8 next great qb's sitting out in FA/draft this year. Wonder what that means...
