i am. not sure what the caps need to do to get over the hump though. maybe some washington strike shortened season happiness can ensue...

Couldn't have come at a better time. I expect the summer to be a dead zone I wasn't about to let mid winter and early spring be one too.

I always felt both NBA (even though I don't watch it too often) and NHL would do better with a shorter schedule. I would like to see the Caps try to implement the game plan they used in the playoffs last year during the regular season a bit more. It might work with a shortened season. It will also be interesting to see which players come back from their overseas contracts.

I was just joking. We don't get hockey here( NHL) anyway but we do have CHL and I've been to a few games.

I've liked the Caps since I was a kid and have considered myself a huge fan since they drafted Ovie, but to be perfectly honest, I'm not all that excited the lockout is over. This is mainly because I am a bitter, bitter person.

I convinced myself during the playoffs last season that the Caps were going to win it all, so I was sort of devastated when they were bounced by the rangers. And now I feel beaten down by the way the Nationals and Redskins' seasons came to a screeching halt during the postseason and I don't know if my psyche can handle that sort of thing again this spring.
On top of all that, even before the lockout I figured this would be kind of a rebuilding year for the Caps as they transitioned back into an offensive team under Adam Oates.



Okay, enough negativity from me... Hopefully Oates and the stint back in Russia can snap Ovechkin out of the mini-slump he's been in the past two seasons and he can return to being the dynamic goal-scorer he was a few years ago. Combine that with improved play from some of the younger guys and a better second line with Ribeiro and hopefully the Caps can make some noise this year and on into the summer.

I fully support an abbreviated season. Honestly... I kinda think Hockey would be better if it kicked off with the Winter classic. The regular season is significantly too long- especially with how extensive the playoffs are.

I, for one, am extremely excited about the upcoming season.... Can't wait.

Only thing that matters as far as I'm concerned is the playoffs, Capitals need to make serious noise in the playoffs.

I'm not gonna lie, I was kinda dreading only having the Wizards to watch between now and when the Nats season kicks off, so I'm glad hockey's back. Not sure what kind of season the Caps are going to have though, with a new coach and system to get used to. I just know I'll be glad to watch some hockey and hopefully catch a couple games in person this year.

To me one of the best products in sports is playoff hockey. Ecspecially when it involves some of the old franchises and those cities with a rabid hockey fan base.

Yeah, I waffled a bit on that one. If I had to choose between my Orioles or my Redskins making the playoffs- it would be a tough one.
