Questions for minicamp?

Does anyone have any questions they'd like me to ask the players or coaches at minicamp on Saturday? I'll try to get as many in as possible.

Gmanc711 03-24-2004 07:06 AM

For Patrick Ramsey: " Patrick, now that a couple months have passed since the acquisition of Mark Brunell, what are your views of the trade and how has your relationship with Mark Developed"

Daseal 03-24-2004 07:10 AM

Ask Joe Bugel ANYTHING. I love his responses!

I would like to hear what some of the players think about the Clarett ruling. Especially Smoot!

dieselhog 03-24-2004 08:19 AM

Ask Taylor Jacobs how he has put the frustration of last year behind him.

dieselhog 03-24-2004 08:19 AM

Oh yes- and not a question - just say a big fat hello and welcome back to Cory Raymer!!!

jbcjr14 03-24-2004 08:36 AM

Ask them all if they visit this great site!!!!!

BleedBurgundy 03-24-2004 08:44 AM

Ask Arrington how much of Terrell Owens' bullsh*t the team will take on the field before someone lays him out.

beg8878 03-24-2004 08:56 AM
Ask them all if they visit this great site!!!!!
Great question, I always wonder that myself...

arrington 03-24-2004 09:41 AM

Ask Gregg Williams what are the teams plans at Defensive tackle?

Brandon Noble - How is the rehab going?

LC - How is the foot?

Jamaican'Skin 03-24-2004 09:55 AM

Ask Freddy S what he thinks about the change of scenery for his ex- partener Champ Bailey, and what it's going to be like for him without Champ lining up on the other side. And tell 'em all Hail fron Kingston, Jamaica

Redskins_P 03-24-2004 10:31 AM

I'm really interested in knowing how Ramsey feels now since the trade has been completed for Brunell.

Also, what's Trung Canidate going to do now? Is he the backup or is Ladell Betts?

dieselhog 03-24-2004 10:37 AM

Ramsey, regardless of how he feels is going to give an intelligent, ultra professional answer.

AnonEmouse 03-24-2004 10:42 AM

If you can, ask Joe if he'll be happy with one more ring or if he too wants one for the thumb?

MTK 03-24-2004 10:48 AM
Ramsey, regardless of how he feels is going to give an intelligent, ultra professional answer.
I agree, Ramsey is the ultimate team guy and even if deep down he is frustrated and disappointed by the whole thing he's not going to come out and say it.

He'll say that he welcomes the competition and is looking forward to working and getting to know Brunell, which is probably true on some level, but on another level I can't blame him for being frustrated.

Ramsey is a guy that definitely has his head on straight, if he can get by the initial frustrations of Brunell being brought in and concentrate on learning from a great coach and a great QB, down the road I think he'll look back on this as a very valuable learning experience and he'll probably be a better player for having gone through this.

Either way it's a win-win situation for the Skins. The Skins bought themselves a little extra time for Ramsey to develop and they have a veteran QB who is still one of the top 10 QB's in the league. If Brunell falters or gets injured they can be confident that Ramsey can step in and the team won't miss a beat.

sportscurmudgeon 03-24-2004 10:57 AM

joe:

More important than "questions":

1. How is Brandon Noble walking/running/jogging?

2. Who takes snaps at QB other than Brunnell and what is the body language of the coaching staff when the others are taking snaps?

Gmanc711 03-24-2004 11:13 AM

Ask Smoot if he plans/wants to stay in Washington following the 2004 season?

skinsfanthru&thru 03-24-2004 11:43 AM

ask the players who they would like to see in a skins jersey this upcoming year via our 1st round pick?

RedskinRat 03-24-2004 11:56 AM

How can we, as fans, let them know that they are appreciated?

offiss 03-24-2004 12:15 PM

Try and find out if they plan to trade any pick's from next year's draft to aquire some picks's in this year's draft.

SmootSmack 03-24-2004 12:15 PM

I'd like to know how excited Sellers, Rasby, and Raymer are to be back at Redskins Park after a few years away

And let us know how Chamberlain looks

backrow 03-24-2004 12:26 PM

I too!

I too want to know if players are members/posters here in Thewarpath.net! It would be great if we could in fact get some inside info! Can you do that JoeCrisp?

More questions, in no particular order.
Are we using the 3-4 more prominantly this year?
Will we go back to the Counter-Trey?
Are they stocking up on Duct-tape to tape S. Taylor to the Goal Post in TC?
Can Smoot really talk that fast?
Where is Daryl?
What is the name of that huge/really fast new DE playing over on the Defense?
Did that pass from P.Ram really go into the next time zone?
Can I polish any of the Lombardis for you?
Mr. Snyder, I need some money! Sorry, not worded in the form of a question.
Any job openings here at Redskins park?
How many wins do you project, and what do you figure our record will be?

Kerry or Bush?

joecrisp 03-24-2004 03:27 PM

 backrow, you're a riot man!

I like that one about the "huge, really fast new DE". I'll be interested to see their faces when I ask them that one!

The idea of asking Snyder for some money or a job has crossed my mind a few times, too, believe me!

I'll do my best to get as many of everybody's questions in as I can. I'll also try to keep tabs of how many of them say they've visited the website. I'll be handing out Warpath business cards to help them remember to drop by sometime.
You guys have come up with some really excellent questions. Keep 'em coming! I'll be compiling them Friday night, so try to get yours in before then.

Paintrain 03-24-2004 06:07 PM

Ask Gardner his reposnse to trade rumors... Ask Arrington what his reation will be if the arbitrator doesn't rule in his favor.. Ask Snyder why he doesn't add the money into the back-end of Arrington's contract to appease his 'franchise player' (I know he doesn't want to set the precedent, but gotta ask).. Ask Portis what he sees as the differences between the Redskins line and Denver's line.. Ask Brunell if he can out-throw Coles's speed.. Finally, ask my boss how she feels about me spending so much time on the Warpath website and I'm still getting paid!!!

SmootSmack 03-24-2004 06:13 PM

Hey Crisp if you get a chance there are a couple of things I'd be curious about

1. Ask the line how is it different blocking for a lefty qb as opposed to a righty

2. Ask the receivers how is it different catching passes from a lefty

JWsleep 03-24-2004 07:58 PM

At the end of minicamp, ask them how different it was from Spurrier's half-assed nonesense!

Ask the o-line (especially Jansen) how psyched they are to be in a run-oriented offense.

Ask the d players how complex Williams' d is, and how difficult it is to pick up.

beg8878 03-24-2004 09:56 PM
I too want to know if players are members/posters here in Thewarpath.net! It would be great if we could in fact get some inside info! Can you do that JoeCrisp?
You you refering to the Ade Jimoh Fan Club president?

:joke:

drew54 03-24-2004 10:48 PM

Here are a few Q's

1. Ask Clinton Portis anything!
2. Ask Smoot anything.
3. Ask Joe Gibbs anything.

Ask the really cool people anything.

Defensewins 03-25-2004 10:59 AM

JoeCrisp here is one for you: Do you need a clip board holder, key grip or gaffer while doing your interviews?

For Arrington: Has he ever seen the Exorcist? If so, were you scared? Is that why 666 scares you?

For Ramsey: How is your foot injury and will you participate in mini-camp?
Have you asked your agent to shut up? Do you still want to get traded?

Snyder/Cerrato/Gibbs: Plan on signing anymore D-lineman (draft or after June 1 FA)?

Boss Hog Bugel: Do you have the sand bags filled for the hated sand bag drill? (Russ Grimm and Jeff Bostic mentioned they hated the sand bag drill the most).

Jansen, Samuels and rest of Hogs: Are you looking forward to the tough drill sargent Bugel and his sand bag drill?

Davnpurt 03-25-2004 12:20 PM

Quick Question.
Just a point of interest, maybe not suitable for this thread, but does anyone know what the 'Skins' plan to do with D. Russell? The guy was a 'man-beast' when he was on the Raiders before being suspended. I know we signed him last year to a one year-minimum deal but if this guy retains his form, possibly as a result of TC, he could be very effective on the D-line...sort of similar with what the Ravens are currently doing with Orlando Brown(former Pro-bowler seeking former form). Or is this guy Russell a distraction in the locker room and not worth the energy/money?

backrow 03-25-2004 12:21 PM

No!
You you refering to the Ade Jimoh Fan Club president?

:joke:
No! I'm not quite sure Ade Jimoh Fan Club President is really ................ Ade Jimoh! It may be his brother/father/sister/mother/cousin/lover.

No, I was speaking about someone who will actually be on the team after TC cuts!

BrudLee 03-25-2004 01:25 PM

My wife is having another son in June this year. Can you find out if Coach Gibbs will be the godfather?

Skins fan 44 03-25-2004 03:29 PM

Just give Coach Gibbs a big welcome back hug for me and tell him how much i missed him. I am the one who wrote in his race shop (when we had Norv-0ctober 2000) and told him to come back to the Redskins. Never got a response though until Jan 7 i guess. LOL

mizzo skins man 03-25-2004 06:13 PM

positive attitude

I just want to know the general attitude of the team. I'm hoping, that like myself, everybody is pumped at the possibility of what could be on the horizon for this team. :biggthump

joecrisp 03-25-2004 08:20 PM

I just got the schedule for this weekend (it wasn't finalized until last night), and it looks like there won't be as much time for talking to the players individually as I had hoped.

The schedule for Saturday and Sunday is one practice session from 1pm to 2:30pm. The players and coaches won't be made available to the media until 2:30pm, so there's going to be a lot of reporters clamoring for these guys' attention all at once when practice is over.

The marquee players will be doing group interview sessions, so any opportunities I get to talk to players like Portis, Arrington, Brunell, Ramsey or Smoot will likely be limited. That's not a surprise, as that's pretty much how they did it at training camp last year, too. I'll try to grab these guys as they're coming off the field, and get some questions in before they do the full group deals, but they'll likely have assistants with them that will divert the media until they're ready for the group interviews.

I was originally just planning to go on Saturday, but now that I know there's only going to be one practice and interview session each day, I'll most likely go up there on Sunday, too.

Coach Gibbs will be addressing the media at 3:30pm on Saturday, and again on Sunday. Again, my opportunities to talk to him individually are likely very small, so I'll try to get a few questions in during the press conferences.

My plan of attack is basically to target the players or coaches that aren't surrounded by ten reporters from the time they step off the practice field. I'd like to get at least two or three quality interviews each day, where they can answer five or more questions at a time. I had pretty good success with this strategy last year, and was able to get quality interviews from Gardner, Smoot, Morton, Jacobs, Samuels, Bowen, Fiore, Hamdan, and a few others. I could have had Bailey, too (my photographer had corraled him, but I was talking to Bowen at the time-- Doh!!! :banghead: ) In Bailey's absence, I expect Smoot to be a much bigger media target this year, but he's very generous with the media, so maybe I'll get more than I expect from him.

I'm doing this for you guys, so if you have any suggestions as to how I should prioritize my interview targets, let's hear 'em!

Daseal 03-25-2004 08:53 PM

Personally I'd love to hear Smoot, Portis, Springs, Ramsey, Coles (in that order) for my top 5 guys to get comments from!

MTK 03-25-2004 10:16 PM

I wonder if guys like Smoot and Ramsey will remember you, Joe. You talked to Smoot a few times and Ramsey seemed to be pretty friendly with you.

You're a lucky man, you SOB!

LOL

Are you going to be getting some pictures too?

joecrisp 03-25-2004 10:36 PM

I'm hoping Smoot and Ramsey will remember me, at least enough so that I'll be able to squeeze in a few quick questions with them individually.
I've got a photographer coming with me to minicamp, so we should get some nice pics out of the deal. That will free me up to focus on talking to the players and watching for the small details in practice.

I'm really excited about this, and I feel like this year is going to be really special for The Warpath. Stay tuned...

diehardskin2982 03-26-2004 11:20 AM

Ask Arrington: with all the controversy of the Poston brother’s dealings, not only with his contract but with other teams like Pace and the Rams, has he ever considered finding some new agents. Secondly if the arbitration does not go in his favor has he considered suing his agents for negligence for not giving him the best representation possible to get that extra 6.5 million.

Be careful though i don't won't him to get angry and hit ya in the face or anything like that :boxing:

Don't worry, I had been considering asking him, "At what point do you begin to worry that you might not be able to play up to the value of your contract, making you expendable? Having stated that you want to be a lifelong Redskin, wouldn't it concern you that your cap number for 2006 would have been an unwieldy $18 million with the disputed $6.5 million roster bonus included? Isn't that a little prohibitive to remaining a Redskin for life?"

But I figured that one would earn me a punch in the face...

...of course I've seen a lot of boxers take a punch for less money.;)

MTK 03-26-2004 03:51 PM

I'd just love to see the look on Arrington's face if you dropped a bomb like that on him, LOL
