Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
Chris Foerster connection:
@Rich_Campbell Tony Pashos played for Redskins OL coach Foerster in B-more. sat out 2012 from foot tendon surgery |

Rumor: Right tackle Tony Pashos is expected to sign.
Is the rumor addendum "Pashos is out 9-10 months after just having surgery" true??? |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
Can Pashos beat out Polumbus at Right Tackle? Id be very surprised, which isnt saying much.
|
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
I think Pashos would be a good pickup. He has good instincts and a lot of experience.
And his surgery was March a year ago, not March 2013. He should be healed and ready to rumble in the jungle. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
I may be in the minority but I'd like to see Polumbus continue to improve, and believe he is capable of it.

We might have to go that route. It's certainly an area of upgrade, but I'm thinking we're not going to have any wiggle room here. |

That time period started in March of last year, so he missed all of last season. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
Pashos is the new Jordan black. I'd say this move just a out cements the fact we aren't getting Winston (again)
|
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
There really was no way we were even in the running for Winston.

How is he the new Jordan Black? Black was a nowhere journeyman backup before we got him. Pashos has started and played well for several teams. How are they the same? |

He is going to be the backup here to whomever we get in free agency and draft. Jordan black took a year off just like pashos. Throw in the whole depth thing and being a backup question mark tackle just like black was last year and that's how they're similar. If you think pashos is our RT solution you're crazy then |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
My guess is we probably still re-sign Polumbus and let him battle it out with Pashos, Compton, etc.
|
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
More competition in camp, don't need the big money guys. More money for less production.

Much like we did with RB and WR when there were no clear cut starters. That's the way MS does it, and I personally like it better than bringing in star after star after star. I just think football is about having that competitor's fire, and when a guy loses that, and thinks he is that "big time" player, it often works out bad. That's what I like about Griffin, he knows he's a big time player but seems to always have that fire in his mind. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
Well splendid. We're bringing in another chronically injured schmuck to battle it out with the developmentally challenged Polumbus.

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
Here's a good rumor from the Washington Examiner on twitter.
@john_keim Here's a name to keep an eye on this weekend for the #Redskins: CB Derek Cox. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
I can't understand why some folks are dogging Pashos, who has been a capable starter throughout his career. How is adding a capable starter a bad thing?
shrug |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
Going, going, going, hopefully gone very soon.

shrug
well any injury that causes you to miss a year I think is pretty major. and then you gotta look at age. I think the disappointment is we dont have an answer to the future of the position and last year that position struggled most the year. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
My prediction if they don't sign a FA or draft a stud RT is that Compton wins the job.

Hall had 4 picks last year with a bad pass rush. With a good rush, who knows how many more he could get? If we release Hall, there will be major consequences. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
His ability to pick isn't the issue with Hall, it's the jawjacking and how often receivers make catches against him.

I agree with you but we need his cap number lowered. |

as much as both of those things tick me off, i still think our team is better with him than without him. our secondary was exposed from a lack of pass rush and absolutly no help over top last year. hall is actually our most tenured player in our secondary, behind only doughty if i'm not mistaken. that is one of the things that this franchise has over looked for a long time, continuity. while he does run his mouth more often than i would like, along the lines of landry almost, i still think we are better with him rather than without. all that said, there is no way i'm paying him $7.5mil to play here next year. there is a massive restructure in order. i could see us releasing him and resigning him. i doubt our front office has too much fear that d hall will attract alot of demand on the open market. i could see us giving him a decent 3 year deal, but if he wants $5mil a year or something like that he can beat feet. |

And adding that he gave up the 2nd most yards last season. |

Consequences? So you already know who and how good his replacement is? |

That's why we don't need Pashos to be all-world. We just need him to be capable competition. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
Honestly, Hall has proven a lot to me that he just doesn't belong here. He shined when Carlos was here because his task was covering the lesser WR than Los had. Yeah, Hall has good hands, problem is the majority of the time he's not in the game (head wise) so he never uses them.
The second half of last season was the first time I really felt he played close to the level of the contract Vinny gave him -- and that's not good enough. He's had decent games here and there, but overall hasn't been worth the $. I really don't see the Redskins being in a bad position if he were to leave. Lot of young talent on the team, and we still have FA / draft. Cutting Hall frees up A LOT of space. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
Tyler Polumbus improved a lot on tape in 2012 over 2011. But he still really struggles to block anyone with any sort of NFL resume.
|
Unfortunately the #Redskins are not taking impatient fans and media into consideration when deciding on their timetable for doing things.
How rude!! |
Dunta Robinson to chiefs according to ESPN

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
Brandon Meyers, Greg Toler, Kenny Phillips all on our radar. We would like Winston, but we know we need to clear up some money first. Don't be surprised to see Chris Chester (coming off an incredible season) be cut. Supposedly his knees are ''shot''
