2013 NFL Uniform Thread - Nike Making Changes
 

Starting a fresh uniform thread for the 2013 season. In 2012, we saw Nike take over the uniforms from Reebok and aside from the toilet seat collars and the Seattle Seahawks, we saw few changes.

In 2013, no less than three teams are being redesigned with new logos and uniforms.

Confirmed are the Dolphins, Jaguars and Vikings. Others are rumored but not confirmed.

As much as I love our uniforms and the tradition associated with them, I wouldn't mind an alternative Nike'd out uni, if they offered. I think it could be kinda cool.

Not many details yet. They've refined their logo and appear to be using a new number font but nothing else has been leaked/released that I am aware of.

Here's one to make you soil your drawers...rumor for 2014 is that the Eagles (they need it) and the COWBOYS are getting Nike makeovers.

This has not been proven or dis-proven. I'd put my money on this being fake but it's out there:

The Eagles just need to go back to Kelly Green with the current design. The new color is just drab and ugly. There are actually petitions by fans trying to get the color change made.

The new dolphin looks pretty sleek.
Theres nothing aggressive about Flipper so thats prolly the most masculine logo you're going to get.

You can't make a dolphin look tough, it's just impossible. When you try it just looks dumb.

That said their new logo is an improvement. It's their team colors that I'm not a fan of.

Those are like Miami colors though the city at least back in the 80's.

The teal is quite girly but Miami has made worse uniform choices.

Actually the part I hate is the unnecessary navy blue they added a few years ago...it's like teams that ad black for black's sake. Stick to the original team colors of just teal, orange and white.

Agreed. The Flying Elvis is horrible. Pat Patriot is far superior. I also thought the team looked better in red jerseys than blue but then you have the issue of them looking like the "Red Coats" we fought against. Such a pickle.

The decision to change the logos an unis is based on the discretion of the team; however it requires approval from the league. The designs are based on a partnership with the uni manufacture and the team. I would also imagine the nfl has final sign off - have to maintain the brand. The process usually takes a year I'd say.

Yep, the teams ultimately approve any changes. In some cases, the brand does the design work (see Seattle 2012) but in the end, the team must approve it and the everything must fit league uniform guidelines like number/name on back placement, required TV numbers (shoulder/sleeve digits), etc. Also, only one alternate/throwback is allowed in any 5-year period. We did our 80th uniforms last season so by league rules, we can't use any other alternate for 4 more years...but we can still use those for those 4 years if we choose to. I'd love to see the leather helmets again personally.

Speaking of throwbacks, the Jets' ugly "Titans" throwbacks should be done now, so hopefully they'll go with a 1980s Jets throwback.

The might do something different with the horns...or should. The newer style Revo helmets have that vent in the side that chop the horn in half.

Hopefully, I've been saying this for years, they just use the newer bright purple color with the throwback striping. Lose the excessive piping and stripes that don't even line up!
