Redskins Pre Draft Workouts/Meetings/Visits Thread
Redskins to host FIU safety Johnathan Cyprien for pre-draft visit
Im starting to really like Cyprien, glad we are hosting him. Safety Duke Williams is scheduled already for a visit. And as the article states, we attended a private workout in Miami for Brandon McGee. What we hearing? |
Re: Redskins Pre Draft Workouts/Meetings/Visits Thread
Definitely gotta put our #1 need at the safety position, and their are several good prospects in this draft. Hard to get super excited about a draft where your first pick is in the 50's but if we get 1 or 2 quality guys, and 1 or 2 back ups, that would be a terrific draft this year.
Let me put this out there as another possible praise of the FO. Good FO's don't just look at this year's draft, they look at future drafts (1 2 or 3 years out) and kind of match up needs/projected needs and draft classes. I don't think that last year when our need (as it had been for a decade) was clearly qb (our cupboard was bare) the draft was a particularly rich qb draft. This year, our safety cupboard is bare, and it is a very deep safety/cb draft. Basically it seems like they let lesser talent (Beck, Williams) sink or swim in a year prior to a flush class, to see if the lesser talent can step up. I may be looking backwards and seeing it in a glass half full manner, but I think in terms of rebuilding, our FO has done a great job of managing talent, and draft positional availability. |

Ike Williams Onterrio Mcaleb
This is exactly the type of guy im talking about when it comes to change of pace RB. Kick returner, runs the ball, and catches a ton of balls out the backfield. Thats an area we need to improve on, catches out the backfield. Get this guy in space, he runs 4.34... |

Re: Redskins Pre Draft Workouts/Meetings/Visits Thread
Per the college ball and draft gurus, are any of the discussed safeties likely to fall to us? And, do we trust any of them at FS as a rookie?

Re: Redskins Pre Draft Workouts/Meetings/Visits Thread
Does this really translate into who a team is targeting or is this a smokescreen? I mean it looks like the team is really interested in Swearinger but if he's there for the taking in the second round but, the team drafts someone else...

Re: Redskins Pre Draft Workouts/Meetings/Visits Thread
Imagine if the Redskins drafted both Jonathan Cyprien and Phillip Thomas. Both of them are ball hawks, big hitters, and both of them can play both safety positions.

Its nice to see FO have their eyes clearly set on taking secondary this draft. In terms of "skins interests" how would we rank the guys they want? My best guess: 1. Cyprian 2. Swearinger 3. Duke Williams 4. Phillip Thomas 5. The UConn Corners 6. Axford 7. Slay 9. Amerson 10. Banks/Brandon McGee |

For all we know, they may have already secretly given Williams a playbook to help him get ready to start the season at FS. j/k. |
