Orakpo says he’s 100 percent
Orakpo says he's 100-percent | CSN Washington
Let's hope he can stay that way. |
Re: Orakpo says he’s 100 percent
Amen to that.
|
Re: Orakpo says he’s 100 percent
until...
|
Hopefully he'll be like that all year
|
Re: Orakpo says he’s 100 percent
A healthy Orakpo adds a whole nuther dynamic to the defense. Especially on passing downs, Rak with his hand in the dirt and ears pinned back makes any QB uneasy. I don't think we scared QBs enough last season in his absence.

Re: Orakpo says he’s 100 percent
Although not a free agent, getting Rak back is the biggest offseason 'addition' to anyone in the division. To think we won 9 games (since he played vs New Orleans) without him and Carriker is pretty scary for the rest of the NFC-E.

When you go over the list of players we will get back....it's like a great draft/FA class coming our way.... Rak Fred Carriker Garcon....healthy Helu Meriweather Minnefield...... and......other suspended guy fun stuff in there! |
Re: Orakpo says he’s 100 percent
Garcon...NOT healthy by his own admission. He just said he'll be playing at less than 100% for the whole 2013 season.
Wide receiver Pierre Garcon said in a televised interview Thursday that he’ll be sufficiently healthy to play for the Redskins in the 2013 season but he still might not be at full capacity. “I’ll be healthy enough to play,” Garcon said during an appearance on the NFL Network, according to a transcript provided by the league-owned TV channel. “I can’t say I’ll be 100 percent, but I’ll be back out there helping the team in any way possible.” Garcon said previously he would not undergo surgery for the torn ligament near the second toe in his right foot that plagued him last season. He said during Thursday’s TV appearance that it’s unclear how fully he will participate in offseason practices with the Redskins.
|
Re: Orakpo says he’s 100 percent
Why's with these guys not wanting surgery?

No guarantees in Garcon's case that surgery will help. |
Re: Orakpo says he’s 100 percent
Rub some dirt on it.....
|
Re: Orakpo says he’s 100 percent
He played pretty damn well at 90% or whatever it was at the end of the season. Not worried about Garcon unless it keeps flaring up.

I fear that Garcon will again miss games due to his foot problems. We have plenty of unresolved injury issues: Adam Carriker is still limping following a setback. It is unknown when or if Fred Davis can come back. Roy Helu is still battling his injury. Joshua Morgan is coming off of several surgeries. Others trying to return from injuries: Brian Orakpo, Brandon Meriweather, Keenan Robinson, Chris Neild, Chase Minnifield, and Jordan Bernstein. Then there is the Big One - RGIII. All of these injured players makes me n-n-n-nervous. |

Depends on the type of injury. |

Thanks to science and technology, lot of players (or people in any case) are healing faster and better. And not to mention, those players have unlimited resources and access to top line of medicine and medical products/therapy than any of us. I probably would not be surprise if one of those players get injured again, but the list is long and the chances are most of them will play lot. |

Re: Orakpo says he’s 100 percent
Turn that frown upside down all you.....Debbie's.
Maybe Good things will come the Skins way? We have had some success as of late. You remember we won the division last year, right? Maybe these guys.....Really will come back healthy and contribute. ....Don't worry....be Happy! |
Re: Orakpo says he’s 100 percent
Just saw his interview, Rak seems very hype, I'm just as excited. He is a pro bowl player and makes a big difference on our D when hes playing. Now get us a safety.
|
Re: Orakpo says he’s 100 percent
I was just now doing some Irish Car Bombs with Robert Griffin III and he's already planning on a first round bye.

I cant wait for Rak to shut the hatters up this year. Its gonna be amazing |
Re: Orakpo says he’s 100 percent
Another take on Garcon's injury
While it’s no doubt Pierre Garcon was a huge spark for our offense last year when he did play with his energy, physicality, big-play ability, and flashes of great speed. Am I the only one finding it a little concerning our No. 1 receiver is saying “I can’t say I’ll be 100 percent” for 2013 after this extended time of rest and rehab? – Alec Gerard It is a little concerning, but at the same time, one thing I learned last season about Garcon from talking to him and talking to teammates about him, is that he is extremely guarded and never likes to raise expectations unrealistically or make predictions. So, that’s why he wouldn’t commit to being 100 percent, although he and his camp, and his doctors believe that his toe will have healed to the point that he’ll have his speed and explosiveness by the start of the season. There was no guarantee that surgery would have fixed the torn ligament in his second toe, and so he held off on that, and this past winter, a little more than a month after the season ended, he had a follow-up checkup, and doctors said that his toe was still making progress and that he wouldn’t need surgery.
Another take on Garcon's injury
That's almost priceless. A WR yet to break 1000 yards in a season with arguably the best QB in history throwing to him doesn't want to raise unrealistic expectations. On a pretty lousy week...this gave me belly laughs :silly: |
Re: Orakpo says he’s 100 percent
I was not a big fan of giving Garcon the contract that he got. But when healthy, he showed that he was a difference maker. But it seems like this thing with his foot is going to linger and he'll never get 100% healthy. I don't expect that he'll ever play 16 games the rest of his career.

nfldraftscout rated him out as the 29th best WR last year, and that was after missing 6 games. Imagine how good he can be if he plays more games...He could be 28th! |

LOL. He's a nice addition to the WR corp when healthy no doubt. The 29th rating sounds about right, but I still question whether his contract is commensurate? |

A full year and he will probably be ranked in the low teens, like 12 or 13. Right behind Crabtree and such. In my opinion not worth what the Redskins paid him, but still a good player. |
Re: Orakpo says he’s 100 percent
I was being sarcastic about the garçon ranking. I think when healthy hes top 15

Given there's typically about 20 WRs who break 1000 yards every season and Garcon never has, even when fully healthy with P Manning tossing to him, I can't imagine anyone would rate him as a top 20 receiver. Low 20's maybe but he's been so inconsistent in every season of his career. Honestly I think he's an extremely difficult player to rank. |

Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark in their primes... and Collie before his concussion problems got the best of him. That's the bottom line. |
Re: Orakpo says he’s 100 percent
Weren't we 9-2 when Garcon was in the game? Come on -- Garcon was a weapon in this offense. He wasn't Calvin Johnson, but we didn't need that for our offense to be top 5 in the league. I'm still concerned about the injury, and he's turning out to be a Landry -> well paid and injured and delaying surgery. Hope he comes back healthy.
Back to the OP -> Orakpo -> does anyone know players who have come back from two torn pec's? Seems unusual to tear it twice, and I wonder how well it heals. Hope it doesn't make him a liability going forward. Don't really care how "well" Orakpo feels now, I want to see it on the field. This is what Orakpo said last year -- a couple of days before injuring it again for the season:
"...But I’m feeling great right now. I was able to go the whole day today. I was able to go the whole couple days we had on Friday and Saturday. I mean, I’m back.” Orakpo: ‘I’m back’
|
Re: Orakpo says he’s 100 percent
Well all I can say is he needs to be patient as well.. a third injury on a contract year is not good for him
