why not try plax now?
It seems from reading this article that he is starting to get desperate, if we could work it out getting plax would be the offseason steal of the year.

Re: why not try plax now?
I do not know alot about Plax but by looking at his numbers why would he be an upgrade over Gardner.
|
Re: why not try plax now?
I have actually been giving that some thought myself as his price continues to fall. They could sign plax and then be free to use the 9th pick on a CB. I would really like to get Mike Williams, but after the last few days of defections this would be a way to fill two areas of need.

Re: why not try plax now?
I think Plax wants BIG money if he signs a long contract. I don't think we should give him big money. I don't know that we would have enough cap room to even pay him for one year (his fallback option, according to the article). He'd probably want $4-5 million, I'm guessing.

Re: why not try plax now?
yah i am ok with that but he was character issues but if we do get him we would have the fastest offense ever, i would pone the world in madden
i say we get derrick johnson in the draft good lb that says he can play middle, he is compared a lot to lavar and they say he is prolly the best athlete in the draft. Taylor arrington Johnson that is amazing great athletes |

He does wnat big money but he is not finding any takers. there has been some talk of him signing a one year contract and proving himself for a run at next years free agency. I would not mind being the team that gets him for this season with a chip on his shoulder. He has a lot of talent and if he takes this disrespect that the NFL GM's have given him onto the field with him he could have a monster season. |
Re: why not try plax now?
I heard Lenny P saying today on ESPN radio that Plax might end up signing a one year deal somewhere and testing the market again next year.
|
Re: why not try plax now?
I think we should avoid Burress at all costs.
Pittsburgh have made no attempt to resign him, and when his own team does that it speaks volumes to me. The guy has serious character issues, i would be amazed if we made any attempt to sign him. |
Re: why not try plax now?
I don't think it would be a good fit from Plax's perspective. He would want to sign a one-year deal where he could come to a team with an offense in which he could put up some sick numbers so that he'd have a strong season to stand on when negotiating for his next long-term deal.
Now that we have gotten Patten and Moss, he'd have to wonder where he would fit into the plans. I think he wants to be a #1 receiver somewhere and pile up the stats. Plus, any receiver interested in big stats would wonder if a Gibbs offense is where they want to be, considering the year we just had. |
Re: why not try plax now?
The fact he's gotten such little interest is a bit of a red flag in my opinion.

Re: why not try plax now?
Why not try to get Law at CB for a year or two? Then you could go after that WR in the first round!
|
Re: why not try plax now?
isn't that what I've been saying, no but everyone, lets keep smoot, and AP, and stay committed to our players, players are committed to money, as soon as you guy' s who believe this the easier it will be to say goodbye to these guys..........Plax and Law, use 9th pick to chose wisely.....
|
Re: why not try plax now?
DJ is more of an OLB and thats not as high on the list as WR or CB i dont thin, with marshall and possibly barrow ready to fill in who already know the system and have nfl experience.
plax drops balls like 50/50 and he hasn't proven himself to be capable of being a #1 like he thinks he is... I rather get dyson from FA (titan's other good corner) and pic up williams (who DOES look like he could be a true playmaker right now). |
Re: why not try plax now?
Gotta ride with Firstdown on this one. If you look at the career numbers. Rod 50/50 G. Hactually has beter numbers than Plaxico. Worth it for one year maybe if the Skins stay within the new fiscal responsibility model.
|
Re: why not try plax now?
Thats what I'm talking about RedskinPete! What is going on with Ty Law? He is '"he best"
corner when free agency started. Who will get this guy? If the Chief's don't step up do the Skins have a shot? |
Re: why not try plax now?
i actually went to school with Plax and he does not have the carachter issues that everyone is talking about...and in regards to the steelers not wanting him back Ben Rothelisberger was very outspoken in wanting him back.. with that said i wouldnt mind having plax (he is from VA and im sure would LOVE to play for the skins) and ramsey would have a reciever that even he couldnt over throw. but he is alot like gardner with the concentration issues and a one year fix would be counter productive to what gibbs is trying to do with the team. i say talk to his agent make a cap friendly long term proposal and if he doesnt like it draft Williams or Williamson with the #9 and if he does then we pretty much get any corner we want in the draft.

Re: why not try plax now?
No thanks to Plax - he's not our answer.

college or high school? cuz I went to the same high school as him except about 2-3 years after he graduated. |
Re: why not try plax now?
I don't like the idea of signing Plaxico. He is big, yes, but he is basically a deep threat, in the same mold as Moss or Patten, except more expensive. We don't just need a WR, we need a specific type of receiver, that being a big, strong possession style guy. Not Plaxico. Let the Giants blow the rest of their cap on him if they want.
|
Re: why not try plax now?
I would sign him to an encentive based contract that is long term and would excelerated based on how well he did. I think we have a big shot at him
1 no one is big time going after him 2 he's from VA 3 He's a big target 4 we don't have a true #1 he would have the chance to be that. |
Re: why not try plax now?
williams would have a better chance at being a #1 than plax... plax isnt any better than gardner... he drops a lot of balls.
|
Re: why not try plax now?
I think you have to consider the character issues..........not what Gibbs is trying to do not his type of guy and if character didn't matter we might have CONSIDERED Randy Moss, but the first words out of Gibbs mouth were Redskin are not considering him.......
PLUS he's inconsistent.....as bad as Gardner about dropping balls, and we fans ran Gardner off the team |
Re: why not try plax now?
Plaxico is the type of player that we all expect Snyder to sign. Since this has been the offseason of unexpected, I will continue to hope he wont sign.
He might take a one year deal for less just to try and prove he is worth top dollar. That means he would bitch loudly if things werent going his way. We dont need him. Smurfs 2.0 and a WR in the draft and we'll be fine. |
Re: why not try plax now?
and we fans ran Gardner off the team
Come on, he ran himself off with inconsistent play. He'd catch a ball that looked uncatchable then drop a ball which hit him in the numbers. |

My bad RedskinRat your 100% right.........Gardner dropped the balls and he made himself one of the most hated players on the team.......heeding our good advice, the team concurred with our opinion........ :biggthump |
Re: why not try plax now?
I guess if we wanted a big, physical, often inconsistent WR we could just keep Gardner
|
Re: why not try plax now?
hey yeah that sounds great. and we could release lavar, clinton portis, sean taylor, our offensive line, marcus washington, and countless other's that help and contribute. and we could make mark brunell, michael barrow, chad morton, and all the other backups the starters. no but seriously i don't think we should try and get plax. its starting to sound like another high profile free agent signing that turned out to be a bust.

Re: why not try plax now?
Mooby as in "Egg and Mooby" muffin from Jay & Silent Bob?
|
Re: why not try plax now?
I agree Matty. Anyone else feel like we need ANY more signings until the draft?
|
Re: why not try plax now?
Why do people on here feel the need to try to get Law? He was good back in the day, but signing him would be like the signing of Bruce Smith and Deion Sanders. Law is old, much older than people think on top of that he missed most of last season due to injury, when you are older and suffer an injury you are not as likly to bounce back as fast as when you are younger.
Plain and simple Law is too old for us to be giving MILLIONS to. I feel that we signed Harris for a reason, atleast let him have a chance. |
Re: why not try plax now?
agreed re: law... it says something about the pat's d-schemes that they can win the super bowl rookies manning the corners... which gives me hope about losing smoot in williams' system.

Mooby I think that Michael Barrow will help us forget about Pierce! Gibbs said Barrows and Arrington are looking good! So if both heal up and put Washington in the mix I think we will be better off then in 04 season! Now the CB will have to be looked in to! |

First off I would sign Law if he come in a a two year at a price that would fit the Redskins needs! As for what you said about rookies playing CB in this NFL I think you are RIGHT! Look at the eagels! They wemt from Vincent and Taylor to Sheppard and Brown in o4 to a Super Bowl! Even better both are under 5-10 in size and they still won! With what you said about the pats D-schemes I may even say that WR's in todays NFL are just not that great! I hope both of us are right. But if we could get Law and he is good to go[healed up]. The price and the the years signed [maybe two] was right I think it could work! |
