Just hope everyone out there is finding safety. |
Re: OKC extreme weather
How about St. Louis? Crazy storm. Fans trapped under debris at Busch Stadium

Re: OKC extreme weather
To clarify, there are unconfirmed reports of fans trapped under debris

Re: OKC extreme weather
It's been a LONG couple weeks here guys. I was underground for a few hours but it seemed like days.. My car was pretty damaged but thankfully that is it, A woman and child were sucked out of their car and were Killed. Just terrible stuff for this state lately. I did see STL got hit but IDK how bad it was. Thanks for checking on me buddy.

Glad you are alright Okie. Sorry about the heartache and travail that you've been put through. |
Re: OKC extreme weather
Isn't the storm season just beginning for the mid-west? Not sure how much more these people are going to be able to take at this rate.

wow man. i couldnt imagine...but its great strangers are helping strangers. Stay strong, these tornadoes will pass and structures will be rebuilt |
That's one great thing about living here, everyone understanding the severity of these storms so we usually just let anyone in that could fit down there. On a bright side, it's June and training camp starts next month!

Its the cold and warm air meeting that cause these storms. |

Not about over, it peaks in May... June is the 3rd most active month. Doesn't really wind down until July. |

Record setting tornado. Hard to believe a tornado with the base of 2.6 miles wide. |

The cell not only broke records, but turned out to be an EF5 tornado with a neighboring tornado spun anticyclonically (opposite direction). I think what ended up happening was two supercells merged, which caused the tornado to switch direction so fast, and coupled with city traffic (leaving no exit routes) doomed those caught in it's path. Very sad because Tim Samaras was a pioneer in tornado and lightning research. |
Re: OKC extreme weather
Also keep in mind, that there hasn't necessarily been MORE tornadoes. In fact, last year was a record low year.
I think there are a few factors making them seem more intense. 1) There are more people living in Tornado Alley. There may have been tons of EF5's out in the middle of no-where, but all they did was knock over a bunch of tres. 2) Media coverage has been much more pronounced lately. Tornadoes make headlines more than they used to, especially since there are many more, "extreme videos" and what not. It may appear that tornadic weather is more intense, but that may not necessarily be the case. |

There were also 7 in 1974. |
Re: OKC extreme weather
So we have this stupid little tropical storm and its like the sky is falling. Last night and this morning that's all they talked about on the news and they even had reporters out on locations. Its raining and maybe at best gust of winds of less then 10 mph. One reporter seemed to make fun of the coverage by saying "Look I think I saw a limb move on that one tree". The whole thing is stupid.

I know! It is stupid. Thing is they blow little shit like this out of proportion and people laugh at them for being over excited; then something real comes along and folks ignore them. A deadly game of cry wolf. |
