Just incase no one noticed
the skins may have got a deal done the ex-buffalo bills saftey Pierson Prioleau. which i think is a good "starting caliber" saftey for almost any team. and he was released because of not restructuring his deal as well as courtney. this is excellent news IMO, but didnt see anyone say anthing about it. much bigger upgrade than franz, lott and dennis. and now that franz is gone, he could easily slide in.
http://washingtontimes.com/sports/20050315-113848-4766r.htm Former Cleveland Browns defensive end Courtney Brown, the 2000 draft's No. 1 overall pick, is considering Washington as one of his two top suitors, while former Buffalo Bills safety Pierson Prioleau already may have reached an agreement in principle to join the Redskins. |
Re: Just incase no one noticed
Thanks for threading that. I put it in another post when I heard it around 9 this morning. How do you start a new thread?
|
Re: Just incase no one noticed
I wonder why we are trying to sign another safety. I wonder if there are questions about Lott and Bowen's recovery. I thought we were fairly deep at safety and with Franz leaving maybe we would pick up one late in the draft but not go after someone who could start in free agency.

Re: Just incase no one noticed
when you are on the main page, got to the icon forums at the top, the on the forums page, select locker room. then new thread icon listed right above all the threads. that will put your message at the top of the main page .... for a while at least

Prioleau played for Williams for a few years. |

if you dont know coach williams, he absolutely loves the saftey position. why do you think when with the bills, he went after lawyer milloy while having ... reese, prioleau and wire. those are four starting caliber safties. he thinks that position should be heavily talented. and with his rep as a d coach, i cant say that i agree more |
Re: Just incase no one noticed
A random aside, but I saw Todd Franz's wife on some makeover show that my girlfriend was watching. It was pretty funny to see him at the end being like "Wow! She has such a glow about her!"
Anyway, the safety talk just reminded me of that. Any news on Bowen's recovery? He was starting to look like a stud before the knee injury... |
Re: Just incase no one noticed
It's exciting really. Sean Taylor's talent is simply mind blowing. Once he is really schooled by Prioleau, who knows the system, our secondary will be fantastic. Looking at the stats on Prioleau. 5 11, 188. He seems to be more of a cover safety anyway.
|
Re: Just incase no one noticed
I am still not solid on Bowen. He is good at blitzing but he is terrible in coverage. He is like a little linebacker, I think Lott is much better in coverage.
|
On Prioleaux
Does this mean that Coach Williams needs guys big enough to attack from any angle, and to disrupt the other teams offensive flow, rather than just tackle, ala Ryan Clark?
And, just how big is this guy, Prioleaux? |
Re: Just incase no one noticed
So my mind begins racing,,, with all of these cover safeties, what ever shall we do with Sean?
Lets feed him the quarterback. |

Re: Just incase no one noticed
Looks more of a Special Teams player than a starting safety.
2004: Had two QB pressures and a hit on the QB vs. Jax. (9/12). Recorded one tackle at Oak. (9/19). Contributed three tackles vs. NE (10/3). Started at strong safety and had 11 tackles plus a fumble recovery at NYJ (10/10). In second consecutive start contributed another 11 tackles vs. Mia. (10/17). Recorded three special teams tackles at Bal. (10/24). Led team with four special teams tackles vs. Arz. (10/31). Posted a tackle at safety vs. NYJ (11/7). Added a defensive tackle and special teams tackle at NE (11/14). Added two tackles defensively and three on special teams vs. STL (11/21). Saw action at safety but did not record a tackle at Sea. (11/28). Led team with three special teams tackles. Had a tackle defensively and a tackle on special teams at Mia (12/5). Posted two special teams tackles and saw limited action at safety vs. Cle. (12/12). Tallied two special teams tackles at Cin. (12/19). Tallied five tackles defensively and another five on special teams at S.F. (12/26). Tied for team-lead with three special teams tackles vs. Pitt. (1/2). |

Re: Just incase no one noticed
I welcome anyone that is familiar with Williams system, and even more someone that Williams wants on his team.
|
Re: Just incase no one noticed
I may be the eternal optomist but this defense is starting to look sick. Coach Williams is going to be bringing it from every angle. There are going to be some monster hits this year just wait and see. I for one cant wait.
|
Re: Just incase no one noticed
They are looking at lott at cb. That leaves Bowen, Clark as the main competitors for the strong safety spot. Bringing in a guy with knowledge of the defense can only make it a better competition.

Re: Just incase no one noticed
i was actually thinking that a new safety wouldnt be a bad thing, and when i saw prielou was cut i thought hed be alright. he went to VT, my school right now, and hes pretty solid if he could come cheap.

Re: Just incase no one noticed
Big C... what's the best place to drink down there? I asked you a while ago and I didn't come back to the site for awhile and forgot where the post was. I'm heading down to see the GF this weekend and we want a good place to party. We walk to Macado's often and we went to Bogen's the other night...
|
Re: Just incase no one noticed
Ryan Clark is still in the mix too. :oink:
|
Re: Just incase no one noticed
Ryan Clark was great last year. I definitely forgot about him. He led the team in most games in tackles.

Re: Just incase no one noticed
Nah, not frats. The g/f and I are just out of college so we're trying to get away from frat parties except when we go back to Lynchburg College (where we graduated). My fault, I didn't know you were underage. Macado's is great to eat at. Great atmosphere too.
