Trick Or Treat
Woman swaps letters for candy in obesity fight - TODAY.com
Some children may be getting more trick than treat when they collect their candy this Halloween. According to reports, a woman in Fargo, North Dakota says she'll be handing out letters, instead of sweet treats, to children she believes are "moderately obese." Valley News Live In an interview with Y-94 Radio in Fargo, she explained her reasoning behind her letters. "I just want to send a message to the parents of kids that are really overweight," she said. "I think it's just really irresponsible of parents to send them out looking for free candy just 'cause all the other kids are doing it." Do you think she is setting a good example? This is pretty funny. |
Re: Trick Or Treat
I think people like this need to find a nice tree to park their car up.
|
Re: Trick Or Treat
LOL Everyone is thinking it she has the stones to do it. While I think the message could be handled a bit more tactfully I don't have a problem with it.
|
Re: Trick Or Treat
Jesus what a killjoy.
If you wanna make a difference lady, go be a PE teacher or work at a community center doing kids aerobics and quit bitching at little kids. |

Nothing helps turn a child around like destroying their self esteem. |
Re: Trick Or Treat
Well Hillary Clinton says it takes a village and Michele Obama wants to fight obesity. Seems she wrepped the two together very nicley.
|
Re: Trick Or Treat
It takes a village? Maybe. It definitely doesn't take ass-hats like this though.
|
Re: Trick Or Treat
A person like that is someone who takes joy from destroying the ideas and dreams of others , in this case children . If you like what she did then you have no problem with telling kids there is no Santa ,Easter Bunny or Tooth fairy ,so as I understand it no childhood at all .
If you don't like the holiday ,fine , turn off the light and put up a sign or just don't answer the door ,nope she has to call the kids fat and then think she should be thanked for it . |

Nobody said you had to be the village dick about it though. Like I said, be productive. Anyone can hand out leaflets and be a douchebag to little kids. |

Nice job, Summo!

Is that a threat? Jerk move...fat or not Halloween is a kids' holiday. Let them have fun. The parents DO need to be lectured but don't make the kids feel like crap because their parents are failures. |
Re: Trick Or Treat
odd how shots at Michelle Obama came about
|
Re: Trick Or Treat
blame it all on Obama
|
She got the fliers from the ACA website.

If something like this would destroy the kids self esteem then they allready have issues. If this happened to me as a child we would just go back and egg her house and get the last laugh. Or maybe they could do this on her front porch. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zK0JaEde4VI]The Pie-Eating Contest - Stand by Me (3/8) Movie CLIP (1986) HD - YouTube[/ame] |

Things like this could be just adding to their current issues. Parents themselves DO need to take accountability for the health of their children and if some screwball lady has a problem with that, take it up with the parents one-on-one. The kids themselves need support from the community not random village idiots tearing them down. |

Why would you egg her house ,you said children who have a problem with her letter already have issues , and children who answer that letter with vandalism have anger issues and other problems , so you are admitting to being one of those children who would be upset about the letter . hmmm . |
Re: Trick Or Treat
We get no kids at our place at all. Sucks.
At our first house we would get hammered all night, it was always fun to see the kids. |

Re: Trick Or Treat
It rained last night so we didn't get many kids. We put our candy in ziplock bags to make it more organized and so that kids don't do the whole, "you got more than I did" thing.
We handed out about 30-40 bags. Not many. |

I slipped into a sugar coma last night from reese's pieces, just can't stop with those. My only real weakness when it comes to candy. |

Re: Trick Or Treat

Re: Trick Or Treat
RP r way better than M&MS but give me KIT KAT over them all
|
Re: Trick Or Treat
I accidentally bought pumpkin spice Hersey's kisses and they are TERRIBLE, but for some reason I keep eating them. However, I dropped one in my coffee this morning and that was actually not too bad.

Re: Trick Or Treat
Snickers and Kit Kats get me. We are the only house on our street and we still had around 30 plus kids. I was happy to see plenty of people out sitting in there drive ways passing out candy. The other half had bowls out because they have children out TT. I was worrried moving their would not be any children my daughters age but it seems like every house has young children.

Re: Trick Or Treat
Good lord candy corn is terrible. Bleh
|
Re: Trick Or Treat
I like the first bite or two of candy corn, after that it quickly becomes sickeningly sweet.

Re: Trick Or Treat
If you have any Peeps ghosts, get some Nutella and graham crackers and make S'mores with the Peeps...you'll thank me.

I like them in waves. Maybe 2 or 3x a year I'll crave some but it's not often. I've never really been a sweets person. Mostly I like cookies and ice cream. Every now and then I'll crave sour gummi worms. And that's about it. Its rare for me to ever want candy. |
