The official cut Josh Wilson, move up Chase Minnifield Thread
Most transactions in the NFL are never this easy. What other big shake up moves need to happen this week? Discuss.
Let say we fired MS, and promoted KS only to fire him at the end of the season. Would that work? OL coach needs to go, LB coach needs to go, DC needs to go, QB coach needs to go, WR coach needs to go. This staff is terrible. |
Re: The official cut Josh Wilson, move up Chase Minnifield Thread
I wouldn't cut Wilson, but I would promote Amerson to starter to get him valuable experience. Who cares if he has growing pains when you're sitting at 3-8?

Re: The official cut Josh Wilson, move up Chase Minnifield Thread
Major shakeups aren't going to do anything but ensure total and complete disaster and make us look like an even bigger joke. We're already crashing and burning as it is. Firing/cutting people doesn't solve anything. At the end of the season go ahead and clean house.
|
Re: The official cut Josh Wilson, move up Chase Minnifield Thread
Josh should be cut or put on IR for a broken spirit. He has been beat like a drum for the whole season. Don't believe me, look back at the tape.

I dont know about cut, but inactive would work. Give Minnefield a shot or someone else. Not the end of the world, see what we got before the next regime. |
Re: The official cut Josh Wilson, move up Chase Minnifield Thread
Reports are he couldn't even put a shoe on earlier this week cause he was so badly hurt. I put this more on the coaching staff; get Amerson in there. Wilson was just getting crushed.
|
Re: The official cut Josh Wilson, move up Chase Minnifield Thread
Davis needs to be cut, he's wasting a roster space and I find it hard to believe there's not one FA TE that couldn't come in and at least block for us. Paul is fucking terrible as well.
Everyone knows I've hated Josh Wilson for years now. I'd rather have a dead guy out there playing than Wilson. I don't think the coaching staff (outside of Mike, Kyle, Haslett and that ST idiot coach) is the issue. I think we have a terrible O-line save Trent, although he decided to not even show up during the 49ers game. Some of these guys can't be coached; Robinson is inconsistent at best, Hank can't stay healthy, Paulsen can't catch, Polumbus is a turnstyle, Moss is old, Fletch is old, etc, etc. A lot of these players just aren't NFL caliber anymore (or weren't to begin with) |
Re: The official cut Josh Wilson, move up Chase Minnifield Thread
Have to make changes, things are not working out. Sitting around doing nothing is like saying, it's ok. It's time to bench people and give others the opportunity, make players accountable.
|
Re: The official cut Josh Wilson, move up Chase Minnifield Thread
It doesn't help that Biggers is playing safety. Minnifield is needed. Wilson should be benched. Idk how else but he season isn't salvageable and has long been embarrassing. Evaluate talent for '14

Re: The official cut Josh Wilson, move up Chase Minnifield Thread
Well, the thing is, unless the team is mathematically eliminated from the playoffs (and I don't think they are technically eliminated yet) you can't really sit players, because that's like waving the white flag. That's a sure sign that your coaching staff has given up (even though that could be true) you don't want to send that message to the players. However, Wilson being hurt would be a good excuse for allowing Amerson to start the rest of the year, and to bring in Rambo more as well. Once it's official that the Redskins are eliminated, then I see no problem with sitting starters down (especially the ones you want or "hope" are retained) and allowing their backups some game time. Would like to see RGIII not be killed before the season is over with.

Re: The official cut Josh Wilson, move up Chase Minnifield Thread
Amerson is better than Wilson . I was wondering where he was last night. Was he hurt ? He was a bright spot in the back end for a bit.
|
Re: The official cut Josh Wilson, move up Chase Minnifield Thread
The fact that Wilson is still on the field is amazing to me, I had 2 people call me last night and say the same thing
|
Re: The official cut Josh Wilson, move up Chase Minnifield Thread
Wouldn't be an inexcusable move from a football perspective, but from a locker room perspective, veterans taking the blame for the loss by losing their job before coaches do is poor form.
If Amerson starts at corner next Sunday I wouldn't be shocked. |
Re: The official cut Josh Wilson, move up Chase Minnifield Thread
Minniefield for Wilson would hardly be a big shakeup. Things could even get worse.

I don't think it can get worse. Wilson gets beat, Minnifield would get beat. Might as well, it'd just be a sidegrade at worst. If anything maybe Minnifield can pretend to look focused. Wilson looks like he's in Lala Land half the time. I've never seen a DB get so turned around like Wilson. He plays so far off the receivers, I can't believe Haslett is telling him to play that far off. He has ZERO catchup speed. If Wilson gets burned, he gets BURNED. Its like Justin Tryon is back on the team again. I could hardly believe people were defending him last season. He's always been horribly, horribly bad. |

Worse than what? Minnifield would be an upgrade, younger, faster. Give the kid a chance. |
Re: The official cut Josh Wilson, move up Chase Minnifield Thread
Wilson was beat bad and often last night... That being said, I believe his injury had something to do with that... My question is not the talent of Wilson, it's why was he out there to begin with? It was obvious he was not anywhere near 100%, not that he is a great player when he is... But we don't have anybody else?
Why was he kept out there? |

Why was he kept out there?
Wilson was injured? Come on, Shanahan's not stupid enough to let an injured guy play when he obviously stinks and needs to be sitting. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me... can't get fooled again. |

All I could think of last night as Wilson got spun around and around... was you D-Rave. I know he drives you to drink, did you have to get your stomach pumped last night? |

Everyone knows I've hated Josh Wilson for years now. I'd rather have a dead guy out there playing than Wilson.
lol i dont know why but this dead guy comment made me imagine a dead zombie guy playing in the nfl. he'd be super slow and always trailing the plays. He could bite people at the bottom of piles. an opposing player could tear one of his arms off then taunt him with it (which is flagable offense). anytime the qb would throw him the ball it would bounce off his face. he would spend an entire quarter just sitting indian style at midfield swatting at players running by. on topic - wilson made some bad tape last night. we need to upgrade CB with a solid starter, doesnt have to be shutdown. cap money will help |

I couldn't even drink. I was so disgusted. I take solace in the fact that the season is almost over and he's pretty much gone. I'm in car crash rubberneck mode for now; just looking at all the damage and collateral damage being done and being incredibly intrigued at how horrible it looks and curious as to how this all even managed to happen. |
Re: The official cut Josh Wilson, move up Chase Minnifield Thread
I honestly think he must be a real nice guy because Redskins like to play people that they like vs. who is talented and can help the team win.

We speak and the Redskins make it happen...

This kills me! Too funny. Coaching isn't the problem other our HC and three main coordinators. |

The guy I quoted, included other minor coaches like the WR coach, O-line coach, etc. Hence why I said I don't think they're the problem. The main coaches are. |

I know, it is just funny. Not hatin' |
Re: The official cut Josh Wilson, move up Chase Minnifield Thread
I have said that some of the minor coaches should be fired and I stand by that belief. Players at certain positions have not developed and even regressed. Why is it that Orakpo has only one move to get to the QB? That is a coaching issue. Why are WR getting bullied at the line of scrimmage and don't use secondary moves to get open- coaching, that's why. Why can't our draft picks like LeRibeus or Gettis sniff playing time, while our oline continuous under performs, that is coaching not developing them. Changes need to happen at ALL levels.

|
My two cents... I don't care who you put in at CB...just get rid of Josh Wilson!
