Great player

Re: RIP Sean Taylor
RIP.
Hope his killers rot in jail. |
Re: RIP Sean Taylor
Man...heck of a player! Hardest hitter I've seen in years. RIP Sean!
|
Re: RIP Sean Taylor
Ah, the thought of what could've been...

Re: RIP Sean Taylor
The only person that I was never actually acquainted with, whose death affected me on a personal level...

I have to agree. I don't why but it truly did. Great player and has always left me thinking what could have been... Out safety position hasn't been the same since he left. Of course with one of the GOATs playing the position how could it be!?? |
Re: RIP Sean Taylor
He might have become the greatest free safety ever, and was certainly the hardest hitting one that I've ever seen. I still watch his highlights on YouTube, and perhaps my favorite Taylor hit was on Patrick Crayton to help preserve the Monday Night Miracle in 2005 (at 1:53 in the video). RIP Sean.

Agreed. Still to this day it sucks. I did meet him once when I had field passes in Tampa, a story I've told here many times; just an awesome dude and a great football player. Still very missed. RIP 21 |
Re: RIP Sean Taylor
RIP, what things might have been with him here. He would have been our RGIII on D and I mean that in a good way.

Yep. I hope his wife and daughter are doing good now, I imagine their pain and sadness is about 10 times worse than what I feel. |
RIP, what things might have been with him here. He would have been our RGIII on D and I mean that in a good way.
He already was our RG3 on D. I attended about 10 games when Sean was here - TV never did justice for how thoroughly he took away the middle of the field AND how fearful opposing receivers were venturing into his domain. I saw Randy Moss outright quit on routes over the deep middle to avoid Sean's wrath.

Hard to believe it's been 6 years. There is no doubt.....many receivers in the NFL are very happy not to face #21 on the field. He inspired an epidemic of alligator arm play when facing the Redskin secondary. Truly a great story for the NFL and sports in general. A life cut short in a home invasion gone bad......for money? A true tragedy. RIP # 21........ |
Re: RIP Sean Taylor
AND
....basically single handedly, his level of play would transform our D to an asset rather than it's current state. Although, no doubt under the current "Roughing" rules, he would be living in Roger Goodell's office....... |

Although, no doubt under the current "Roughing" rules, he would be living in Roger Goodell's office.......
The amazing thing if you look at his highlights on YouTube, most of Sean's big hits were led by the shoulder to the opponent's body, and not to the head. Today's pansy officiating would have ruled "Defenseless Receiver" for his hit on Crayton in the Monday Night Miracle, even though it was a shoulder to Crayton's midsection. Taylor would have been penalized for the sheer violence of his hits, even if they were legal upon later review. |
Re: RIP Sean Taylor
I remember not long before I became a fan, a buddy of mine (same guy who suggested I sit down and give the game a chance) broke the news to me when it happened, and I didn’t realise at the time just how significant a loss it was to the team/fans on so many levels.
Anyway, this same bud was pretty low about the whole incident, talking up how much he admired Sean as a player and how he was one of the few guys in the league he really rooted for. The most significant thing for me though is this guy is an Eagles fan, who rarely gets attached to any player. So to see someone from an opposing side be so effected, I guess really says it all about just how much of an impact #21 made not only to the entire Redskins Nation, but to the game as a whole and those who enjoy it the way it should be enjoyed. I was going to say Happy Thanksgiving to everyone btw, but I hope everyone understands it’s maybe not appropriate at the end of this particular post. RIP Sean |
Re: RIP Sean Taylor
I get that SP. It has been said many times on the WP(including me), that it is quite odd to feel so moved by the passing of someone who you had no relationship with. Many have felt the same. A person I did not actually know. I don't really idolize....anyone. ST was different somehow......I get it

Re: RIP Sean Taylor
My all time favorite football player. RIP ST

Will never forget that day. Can't believe six years have gone by.

Re: RIP Sean Taylor
Hard to imagine ST would be retiring or already retired.............

Re: RIP Sean Taylor
Im late.
But RIP to the GOAT. Not a day goes by.... 21 Forever. |
Re: RIP Sean Taylor
Glad to see justice was somewhat served. But there is never any justice in these types of senseless crimes that rob a daughter of a father....
RIP Sean... We all still miss you dearly |
