Redskins vs. Falcons Post-Game Thread
Let's move the post-game discussion here
|
Re: Redskins vs. Falcons Post-Game Thread
I just got home from work. DVR'ed the game and just started watching , so I'll chime in in a little bit. I know we lost but I heard Cousins gave RG3 a run for his money.
|
Re: Redskins vs. Falcons Post-Game Thread
While cousins had some positive plays against a terrible defense, I think we saw a lot of stuff we've been eeing all season.
|
Re: Redskins vs. Falcons Post-Game Thread
I think the best thing that came out of this is that cousins didn't hurt his trade value much, if at all.
|
Re: Redskins vs. Falcons Post-Game Thread
Who cares?
|
Re: Redskins vs. Falcons Post-Game Thread
I highly doubt we will get a first round pick from Cousins He was superb the first half, but was shaky the second half. He will need to shine very bright to garner a 1st round pick. I think we need to keep him just in case Robert doesn't get back into 2012 form which might happen. Kirk will really need to light it up to get us a first round pick. Sorry, but if you really need a QB that bad, just draft one. Why trade at all? The shit teams like Jacksonville will have a high enough pick to get Winston and Johnny Football if he comes out, along with the kid from Oregon. Why would you trade a shot at those guys for a MSU guy?
|
Yeah kirk played well and also played shaky at times , he had 3 tds but also 3 tos
|
How bad is Atlanta when u barely beats a team w 7 tos
|
Re: Redskins vs. Falcons Post-Game Thread
Seriously now, are we that delusional and in denial about the state of our favorite team that we will believe a team will trade their first round pick in which they can get a Winston or Mariotta, or even that kid from Northern Illinois, to get a Skins backup?

Who would have thought Atlanta, Washington, and Houston would be scraping the bottom of the NFL barrel this year? |

Winston is a freshman |
Re: Redskins vs. Falcons Post-Game Thread
Cousins looked good. The DL looked good IMO. Other than that we looked like a 3-11 team.

Or that you could add up the wins by Skins and Gmen and still not get in the playoffs. |

this. I think everyone is baffled to some extent. You could even pt the Giants in there. What a load of diarrhea they are. |
Re: Redskins vs. Falcons Post-Game Thread
Also, we were moronic to think one player was going to turn this sorry state of affairs in our favor over the medium to long term, without much of a supporting cast. I say we because after last season I fell for the delusion myself. Thinking about what has transpired since 2000-2001 the greatest blunder was Snyder firing Marty, when he got the whole team on board with his system. My god they won with Stephen and Tony Banks at QB and other Norv retreads. Spurrier's system was a disaster as he didn't really tweak it for the pro game and Coach coming back gave us some playoff appearances, but no real shot at the title. Also, a couple of his drafts were totally whack. Zorn was well Zorn, a deer in headlights, and Shanny just had to bring in his lame ass son. Maybe he can get Kubiak in, if all that happens is that Kyle gets canned. I can't really blame Shanahan when the owner has clearly sided with his meal ticket over the HC yet again.

Oh man, I blew that call. I thought he was an upper classman. Looks like he is going to be the next 2 time winner then. But seriously, if you are a bottom of the barrel scraper, just use your first round pick to get a stud, not a second stringer from another bottom feeder. |
Re: Redskins vs. Falcons Post-Game Thread
What a game. Completely different offense when Cousins is in there. The play calling was aggressive, too aggressive as I thought Kyle sort of needed to dial it back on the one yard line on that Int. But for a guy that is making his 2nd start and hadn't played in a year, Cousins is just very impressive. That first half was ridiculous. I don't think Cousins is going anywhere. Call me crazy but he's going to push RG3.
Also Rak is playing himself into a new contract. He's been everywhere the last two weeks. Morris? C'mon man! Hold on to the damn ball! Also MS...kick the XP, play the percentages. I didn't like going for it but I guess he really doesn't give a damn. |

Re: Redskins vs. Falcons Post-Game Thread
I thought it was a good game for a 3-11 team. Cousins looked pretty good but needs to work on his decision making. Too many passes being squeezed into dudes with guys all over them and throwing INTs. He throws grown man passes though; shit's a blur.
D-line showed up this game, which was good to see. Fletcher is still abysmal in coverage. This game was basically lost due to turnovers. Also, didn't like the call to go for 2pts instead of going into OT. But it's Shanahan. Whatever. |
Re: Redskins vs. Falcons Post-Game Thread
If this season was anything other than the way it was, I would have said go for OT, but I actually liked the call to go for 2. It's been that kind of season, why not just go for it?
7 turnovers is definitely difficult to to get past. Overall, the defense played fairly well with the exception of third down defense which has driven me crazy all season. Now, let me preface this by saying, RG3 IS THE GUY, but at any point was anyone like, "Wow, RG3 would have made that play!"? Again, this isn't me saying Cousins should be starting, but it's nice to see us have two legitimate options at QB. If he keeps playing like that, we might get first! Reminds me of Andy Dalton a lot... |
Re: Redskins vs. Falcons Post-Game Thread
I don't see the reasoning behind trading KC. I doubt we would get anything better than a 3rd at this point.
Teams need two quality QB's, just look at GB. Kirk managed the game pretty well and had some nice throws, as soon as ATL started planning for the rollout he was only marginal. Interesting that Mike Nolan was coaching ATL's D. We've had some bad games with him. |

I would trade him this off-season, especially if there's a new HC. And then just draft another young QB |

Anybody that trades for him is going to sign him to a new contract anyway because they are going to want him as a starter. But I hope we keep Cousins either way, unless we can get a ridiculous trade for him. Griffin is just too much of a question mark at this point with the way he played this season. I'm fine with going into next season with him as the starter, but if he doesn't show that he can get back to form in the first 4 or 5 games of 2014, I'm going to want Cousins out there. With the amount of QB problems the Redskins have had over the last 20 years, I don't want to give up a potential franchise QB in Cousins if Griffin doesn't live up to the potential that we all know he has. |

Plus, why pay franchise money when you don't have to just yet? |
Re: Redskins vs. Falcons Post-Game Thread
Why are people saying getting a 2nd rounder? I would ask for a 1st, someone will fork it out. Gabbert, Locker, Manuel were drafted in the 1st round, you guys think a team doesn't want an experienced QB rather than spend a 1st round pick on someone green out of college? If I was a team like Houston, Minnesota, Jacksonville or Arizona I would gladly give a 1st rounder for someone like Cousins.

He's probably not worth a 1st, I mean today he played good but bad also, his ints and fumble were ugly . Let's see what he can do the next two weeks first but I'd still say a 2 is worth it for cousins if I'm a team like jax |
Re: Redskins vs. Falcons Post-Game Thread
I say keep Cousins. Let them battle it out in the offseason/preseason and the best man wins the starting QB position. Yeah they gave up a lot for RGIII, but that is history. You can't take that back, but you can't let that dictate your future either. His injury changes everything, and there is at least a possibility he will never be the same player you thought you were getting. Bottom line is you field the best player, the player that gives you the best chance to win. If that happens to be Cousins come early September 2014, then hand the clip board to RGIII.

He is telegraphing the hell out of his throws. Who knows, maybe having Robert watch a few games will help him.....:twocents: |

Personally, I see a lot of Rex in Cousins. He does operate the offense efficiently, but he has turned the ball over at an alarmingly high rate. The fact that people seem to be overlooking that, simply because he racked up a lot of yards is a symptom of confirmation bias. He's got nine total turnovers(8 INTs, 1 Fumble) in 12 quarters of football. Until he tightens up that part of his game, I will be refering to him as Rex, Jr. |
Re: Redskins vs. Falcons Post-Game Thread
Did anyone catch that the announcer said he talked to Rak and he was excited to test free agency. I've also noticed that Rak has been playing harder the past couple of weeks. Before that it was like he was not even on the field for a few games. I would not be surprised if he is not gone after this year.
