surprisingly i liked trung last year...... in the beggining, didn't he and ramsey do that flee fliker in that preseason game. That just makes me happy to know that we could throw the deep bomb with our QB.

I liked trung because in madden he was a beast. I would do flats with him and he would break outside.

The redskins are too good in madden its almost cheating. I was ranked 228/135000 people at that, i know i am to good no cheap stuff or glitchin or any of that crap that dallas fans do. Yet to lose to a dallas fan!!

Re: Bigger Bust????

I'm with Iventop. Shuler was the biggest bust. The guys you listed, Canidate was ok; and I didnt expect anything out of him anyways. Sanders was just a crappy signing, and he wasent even *that* bad with us. Westbrook sucked but had at least once ok year, and started for a while. Out of the list I'd go with westbrook, the biggest bust ever was shuler.

I cant believe he has that picture on there. I'd probably want to start over and project an image of success. I mean I tried a few businesses myself before I finally found success (or at least Not Failure) and I wouldnt put a picture of myself selling magazine subscriptions door to door on my company website.

Heath gets my vote, simply because he was so hyped coming out of TE. Trung was already a backup for a reason & did not get my vote simply because ST Louis knew what he was & wasn't & played the Skins in that deal.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That picture is hilarious! He's doing what every other washed-up, never-was is doing from the NFL. Selling real estate or used cars.

If we're talking about what YOU'RE thinking about, I don't even think I can decide.

Re: Bigger Bust????

Shuler......hands down.
Spurrier and Desmond Howard (4th overall pick that we traded up for in 1992......remember him?) are running a close second for me.

Re: Bigger Bust????

Shuler is one of the all-time busts in NFL history, so he easily tops the Redskins' list.

shuler was horrible, I was gona pick Deon because of the 40 mil contract and he jus robbed us

hahaha, thats really funny that he has a real estate company now. if he was smart, he made enough money to live the rest of his life on.

I remember seeing something about Shuler on TV and he's actually doing very well in real estate.

Trung Candidate? WE DIDN'T GIVE UP TOO MUCH FOR HIM. TO ME A BUST IS A FIRST ROUND PICK OR A GUY WE PAY A LOT OF MONEY TO AND HE DOESN'T PLAY GOOD.

This is like asking is France in Europe (we surrender)? Was Hitler German (Austrian)? Is Lucy Liu Sexy (hell yeah)? Is Dan Snyder short (5'6" tops)?

Heath "The Bust" Shuler takes this little poll hands down and without any effort.

Actually, that was Morton who threw the pitchback to Ramsey, who with LC's help made R. Lewis and Ed Reed look silly. Sad that it came in a preseason game, but that was one of the best redskins plays I've ever seen.

Personally, I think it might be useful to have Gardner around this year, as much as I despise the guy. Since he's playing the last year of his contract and auditioning for other teams, he could end up having a Mushin Muhammed type year - ok maybe not as good, but better than any of his previous seasons here. Gardner made some unbelievable grabs (along with some unbelievable drops) last year. The one in the first Giants game (a 50 yd pass play from Ramsey) was an incredible catch.

I dont know who had high expectations for brunelll. did anyone watch the qb challenge from last year, he overthrew everything. that didnt change once he got on the field, either.

Re: Bigger Bust????

I was pretty young when the whole Shuler thing went down. I remember him being a huge bust. What was everyone's opinion before he actually started playing? Did everything he would magically resurrect the team into greatness?

I'm not sure if I would throw Dan Wilkinson up there. He actually had a few decent years. If my memory is not mistaken, he racked up 7 sacks one year with us.

TheMalcolmConnection 03-30-2005 01:22 PM

Re: Bigger Bust????

Big Daddy definitely had the "biggest bust" of them all. ;)

MTK 03-30-2005 01:49 PM

Re: Bigger Bust????

Big Daddy wasn't worth the contract we gave him but he was an adequate starter for us in his time here.

Stubby and Spurrier should definitely go in the bust category.

TheMalcolmConnection 03-30-2005 01:54 PM

Re: Bigger Bust????

I'm torn between Shuler and Spurrier. On one hand, it's easy to bench a QB and hard to get rid of a coach (in most cases). On the other hand, Shuler was one of the biggest busts ever. I kind of think they carry equal weight. Both college products with proven records and both flopped when they came to the pros.

56FAN 03-30-2005 02:29 PM

Re: Bigger Bust????

for me it's between george and shuler and howard. i never thought shuler was a good choice. i wanted dilfer , at least he had played a pro style offense. they chose shuler becuase he could scramble. i expected more from george and he totally hugged. howard i also expected more of even though i didn't want them to trade up. i wanted to stay put and get troy vincent, can you imagine the secondary we would have had with green and vincent. that's what makes it smart more.:dallas: :banghead:

skinsfanthru&thru 03-30-2005 03:03 PM

Re: Bigger Bust????

What about Norv Turner? right now I'd have to say the biggest redskins bust in my lifetime would be Shuler, Westbrook, or Spurrier. None of them lasted all that long in the nfl and none of them lived up the huge hype surrending them so it makes it tough to decided a "winner". I guess I'm gonna go with Westbrook cuz we was a dud on the field most of the time as well as off the field which he showed when he sucker punched Stephen Davis. If Ramsey doesn't improve a bit this year he may start slipping down into this discussion in the future.

sportscurmudgeon 03-30-2005 03:40 PM

Re: Bigger Bust????

I wonder why no one has suggested Daniel M. Snyder for biggest bust?

He took over a team that was on the cusp of contending - made the playoffs in 99/00. Then he "added his value" to the mix and there haven't been any winning seasons since.

I'm not trying to say that Heath Shuler and Desmond Howard and Mark Carrier and Deion Sanders and Jeff George and Stubby and Mark Brunell were anything positive here. They were not. But I don't know that any of them had a major hand in a 5 year run of losing...

If you're not going to add anything meaningful to the discussions here either hold back on your insightful commentary or find another board to post on.

I can recommend some other sites if you'd like.

I think Skinz_Domin8 is somehow related to Mark Brunell-notice the number 8 in his username-hence the constant Ramsey bashing

Either that or he's just :Smoker:

If I am so wrong...........then prove it.

Re: Bigger Bust????

I think the onus is on you to prove your point, you're in the minority. I could quote lots of facts and figures, use bar/pie charts and prove that Ramsey is the better QB but you wouldn't understand and I'd have wasted my time.

SmootSmack 04-01-2005 12:59 PM

Re: Bigger Bust????
If I am so wrong...........then prove it.
Matty's not the one that has to prove anything. He's not the one who said Patrick Ramsey is the biggest bust. You did so you tell us why...People say Heath Shuler because for a top 5 pick the results did not live up to the draft status, or Deion because the results did not live up to the contract

So if you're going to say Patrick Ramsey is already the biggest bust ever, maybe some of us won't think it's nearly as ignorant a comment if you provided some info to back it up.

And before you think of posting it, just know that the whole more losses than wins argument is not a good one
